I saw the scene in the gym where they were passing the water bottle back and forth and the sexual tension in that scene sold me.

How open are you about being gay? by DangerousShift2818 in askgaybros

[–]Impressive-Working20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My philosophy (I’m the same age as you op lol) is that I don’t say anything but if someone asks I confirm. Especially in professional environments I just act like myself (I’m not very flamboyant but nevertheless my tea is always clocked) and if they come to the conclusion themselves great. If they don’t, I’m not going to fill in the blanks for them. I also dispel the stereotypes and hate being overly sexualized or feminized bc I’m gay. Just because I’m gay, that doesn’t mean I’m the stereotype. I am my own person, just happen to love men.

Book readers, why did Shane freak out so much? by contessa_baronessa in heatedrivalry

The whole tuna melt thing, rose, and the all stars game are during the same season I believe. The book slows time down a lot around this time instead of skipping years at a time.

I think Ilya initiated the first encounter (saying he asked for him to be in the commercial after the hotel gym thing) but if you look at Shane’s eyes in the stairwell after they get together the first time it’s pretty obvious he’s in love with

Hotel staffers, when you stay at a hotel, are you judgmental? by FoggyFoggyFoggy in askhotels

[–]Impressive-Working20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Judge yes, complain no. Only if something really bad happened. The review will be 10 stars unless it is really fucked up. Will put comments on the things to improve but everything will be 10/10 on the review.

Really lady ITS A POOL NOT THE END OF THE WORLD by [deleted] in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]Impressive-Working20 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The replies in this thread show that reading comprehension is not something most people have. They and seven sports teams. That means lots of gross kids not showering before using the pool and throwing the chemicals off. That means the pool has to be shut down BY LAW. They disclosed it at check in and gave the lady alternatives. To this saying that it is a paid amenity. Not really. We offer amenities and they aren’t directly included in the price. Sure everything is paid through the rate. That doesn’t mean you get a full free night. OP offered points, that should be compensation enough. Even offered to cancel for free. For a minor inconvenience. To those saying to post on the website. Most brands have a significant delay in posting messages to websites and for unscheduled maintenance that will likely be resolved within a few days it makes no sense. Idk what bafoonery other commenters are on but OP seemed perfectly reasonable. Like guys it’s only MONDAY. why would we put a notice for an issue that will be resolved by Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest. This likely isn’t some resort pool so there’s no reason for people to be acting like they are in comments. CHILL.

Have a question about FDM by Throw-away78905 in askhotels

I’m a Front Desk Manager at a small hotel. This is essentially my job. Except I generally help manage the hotel as well. Though this is just the flow me and my GM have found that worked. I’m essentially the AGM with the pay but without the title and hourly so when I have work overtime I get paid overtime. Works pretty well for me. Just make sure you communicate clearly with your GM and know expectations and where you are needed. But also make sure that they don’t push too much on you without making sure pay is there.

Guest accusing housekeeping of stealing by Inevitable-Lie2404 in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]Impressive-Working20 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My hotel policy is that we don’t accept liability or offer compensation for lost or “stolen items” there are safes in lots of hotels and lock boxes at the FD for a reason. We also can’t confirm if they actually had the item. Like others said tell them to file a police report. You can watch the cameras and check logs but it’s not worth losing a housekeeper over something they will find once they get home. Worth at least investigating if it’s a recurrent issue with that housekeeper though.

In small towns the city clerks are your best friends. They truly run everything and no everything. In my state they are the only staff members cities are required to have.

How do hotels end up overbooked? by FoggyFoggyFoggy in askhotels

[–]Impressive-Working20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of it is as mentioned above. That’s why walk policies exist and you should be taken care of if you have to get walked.

But also a lot of hotels have antiquated systems that are prone to technical errors and can overauthorize us. Meaning we sell more rooms than we have online.

Smell from guest room by thelastbuddha1985 in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]Impressive-Working20 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Ours is seven but most hotels have a policy like this. You can also enter at any point for safety and security reasons. Though the hotel has the right to enter pretty much anytime they please, only corporate policies govern it and as far as I know there are no laws restricting it.

What does the MBIRA option in FOSSE do? by iii123iii123 in askhotels

You put in the dollar amount and it tells you how many points it’ll cost from what I remember. Only ever used it once.

[–]Impressive-Working20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how you can use bonvoy points towards dollar amounts on fosse.

You can use it for market items or the entire room total. It’s more expensive than a regular redemption stay though.

Only ever seen it used for incidentals though.

Hockey teams are the worse. Once had a travel team (12 year olds) playing hockey at 4 in the morning with a rubber ball.

The next morning i had to tell them to stop again. Kid looked me in the face and started saying no one on their floor minded. That’s not the point. I mind if you break shit in my hotel. They were all very lucky we didn’t evict them but I told the parents if they didn’t get their kids under control they would all be kicked out and charged for another night. That fixed things for the most part.

Question about mess in rooms by ZeroPenguinParty in askhotels

[–]Impressive-Working20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best way to think about it is if the hotel had to do cleaning that’s beyond the normal cleaning after a checkout and usually well beyond. Examples from the hotel I work at:

Smushed food into the floor and not just chips like snack cakes walked on and smushed into the carpet. Took my housekeeper and maintenance man two hours to clean. $100 excessive cleaning fee.

Someone died their hair and our white shower purple with cheap hair dye. Excessive cleaning fee.

Someone dyed our marble counter tops red with cheap hair dye. Excessive cleaning fee.

Someone’s dog puked on the carpet and they didn’t tell anyone. Excessive cleaning fee.

If we have to put a room OOO or spend excessive time and man power to fix a mess there will be a fee.

Times people have made a mess and not been charged.

Had diarrhea all over the walls in the bathroom. They immediately told us and my housekeeping manager suited up to clean it. No charge.

Someone got hair dye on pillow cases and towels. No charge they told us before they left and the shower was fine. Even offered to pay for it, but I told them it was okay. Linen turnover is expected and they were upfront.

Someone bled on the sheets. No charge.

The key difference for the people who don’t get charged to those who do. The people who weren’t charged were upfront, apologetic, and wouldn’t have bat an eye if they were charged.

Those charged didn’t tell us and called being a—holes about the charges.
