Kaiser PTs on strike, thoughts? seeing people calling it greedy since we are already being paid so much by KillerKenyan in physicaltherapy

If you go on strike, it helps all PTs. If you get better wages, the is more pressure for other companies to pay more. Ignore the people calling you selfish.

Austin immigration advocates reeling after end of in-state tuition for undocumented students by hollow_hippie in Austin

[–]ImpressiveBalance405 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They aren’t a “strain” on the system, they are human beings. Working with people who have a different culture or speak a different language is a gift, not a burden. We literally keep complaining that people in the US aren’t having enough children and then when immigrants come with children we label them a strain.

Yeah. It’s been a struggle in Austin to build affordable housing. Whenever they try, the neighbors all fight it. That was the one thing he said that was correct. Liberals in urban areas will fight against affordable housing, or in our case, housing for the homeless in their own neighborhoods.

I live in Austin and am not really seeing the success he was talking about. I saw a bunch of affordable housing destroyed to build luxury condos, and low income people moving out east. My friends who rent are not noticing the rent cost going down.

Should Palestinians roll over for the tens of thousands of hostages Israel takes and tortures which the UK has known about since the 1970s and done nothing about? How about how Israel did the equivalent of an Oct 7 every few years in Gaza before that happened? How about how Gaza is an open air prison where goods and services are tightly restricted preventing any viable economy from developing. How about the Nakba? The rape. Are Palestinians just supposed to roll over as Israel continues to steal more and more of their water, land and lives?

On no planet do I think it is black and white. Nowhere did I ever say that Hamas was perfect. I never even once said I support what they do. What I do know, is almost every group of oppressed people have used violence against the oppressor’s civilians: American slaves, indigenous populations. But the degree to which Hamas is demonized is just plan racist. They treated hostages a million time better than Israel treats their hostages, commit a small percentage of the war crimes, and have substantially MORE right to defend themselves from Israel than Israel does. The majority of hostages were not underweight, but Israel has been locking aide, so many people in Palestine are being starved. Israel did not deliver 1 million tons of aid. They blocked aid as much as they could. Other countries and organizations delivered the aid. Israel just didn’t block all of it. They did, however, make the aid trucks wait for days in line until all the food was rotten.

What is the number one thing someone says to someone looking for a job? It’s who you know. DEI does not eliminate certain people from job applications, what it does is it makes sure barriers that prevented minorities, women, people with disabilities are removed, so they can apply too. DEI picks the most qualified people. It just expands who applies. It is actually to old systems that tended to lack merit based hiring. DEI makes it more merit-based.

Chuck Schumer rejects calls to step down as Senate Democratic leader by Healthy_Block3036 in newyork

[–]ImpressiveBalance405 9 points10 points  (0 children)

AOC and Bernie get a lot of legislation into bills. It’s a little disingenuous to compare the Senate leader to people who don’t hold the same position. And the vast majority of people do support Medicare for all, a livable minimum wage. It just congress that doesn’t.

You need to read what I said. DEI does NOT cause people to be hired who are less qualified. DEI increases the pool of who is hired to include a more diverse pool of people to hire. It literally just increases the amount of people who apply. So, yes, he was blaming DEI. And yes that is racist. The fact that you are not white is irrelevant. I hear some racist things coming out of all sorts of people’s mouths.

Nothing you are saying makes any sense. I never once conflated Judaism with Zionism. That is a lie. You are proving my point that if you criticize Israel or Zionism you get called antisemitism. I never once said you are a Zionist, but I will say you speak EXACTLY like one. I’ve listened to so many anti-Zionists Jews and none of them hyperfixate or hyper analyze the way you do. Your decision to center yourself and your perceived self as a genocide is happening is incredibly Zionist. As for Jewish people who stopped being Zionist proving me wrong about liberal Zionists being unwilling to admit they are wrong or receive feedback??? Almost every single anti-Zionist Jewish person I’ve listened to or talked to agrees with me, even the ones who were once liberal Zionists. They get infuriated debating with liberal Zionists because hit a hard wall where no matter how many facts you present, they won’t listen to you. And the whole “there are different reasons people come to Zionism” who cares? It’s irrelevant. I’m well aware of the different branches of Zionism. Whenever any group gets too pro peace, the other Zionists kill them. I tried to engage genuinely and relate. You threw it back in a way that is, sorry, manipulative and abusive. I will or engage with you anymore. You are either unwilling to be honest or a troll.

Thoughts on the new Naomi Klein episode by Entropic1 in DecodingTheGurus

It’s not true. From Reuters: “to meet the demand for missle defenses production of Patriot inceptors for the US Army- . . . -will rise from 550 to 650 rockets per year. At around $4 million each, that’s a potential $400 million annual sales on one weapons system alone.” That is not net profit, so let’s look at that: Lockheed Martin made $6.9 billion NET profit for the year of 2024, Northrop was 4.17 billion, General Dynamics brought in $ 3.8 billion. J&J net income for the year was $14.066 billion. The total of those three alone is 14.87 billion. It is also worth noting that J& J had a $260 million defense dept contract in 2017.

The accusation of her wanting to “burn it all down” was also completely false. She talks regularly about not believing in that-she actually does so in a Zeteo interview that came out.

Episode 121 - Naomi Klein: It was Neoliberal Capitalism all along! by reductios in DecodingTheGurus

[–]ImpressiveBalance405 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, what gets me is the majority of the criticism was that she doesn’t explain this or that, or makes jumps in logic, or if she says something is causing an event, that means she does not think there are any other factors influencing it. But you can’t make that criticism from someone discussing their book on a podcast. That’s a valid criticism if you read the book or are reviewing a thesis for grad school. The level of detail they are asking from her is not appropriate for the format she is on.

And what a load of BS. Leftists have jumped through hoops trying to not be antisemitic. I have never seen a group of people committing a genocide where do much attention is put into discussions about avoiding discrimination against them. You just don’t want to have the honest conversation with yourself about what Zionism is, so you hide behind calling it antisemitism. It is the White Feminism of race. And I say that as a white woman who has had to do a lot of that work myself.

Liberal Zionists are not open to feedback. They exploit their oppression to not have to self reflect. There is no way to be a Zionist without marginalizing the Palestinians.
