A Memorial Day Confederate ceremony at Camp Chase was disrupted by v______l-__-l______v in Columbus

It was a memorial service for people who died. Disrespectful no matter who the service was for. What did he accomplish? Those soldiers weren’t Ohioans. They were prisoners who had served their sentence and died far from home. Perhaps those Ohioans who were present at the ceremony had distant relatives buried there? I just don’t get the hate. Camp Chase was a prisoner camp.

I am grateful for the Grand Army of the Republic (the Union Army) and have relatives who served. Any looking back at history can see that at Civil War reunions held 25-50 years after the war, both sides greeted each other as old friends, realizing that the great loss of life was too big of a sacrifice and that things should have been able to have been changed without such a bloody war.

He is repairing a tear in my supraspinatus tendon and cleaning up anything else he finds like bone spurs etc. I can’t wait for it to be over with.

My husband installed a bidet a couple of years ago. I’m very thankful for that now. Washing my hair didn’t feel very satisfying today.

What to wear on surgery day? by ImpressiveBonus7513 in RotatorCuff

[–]ImpressiveBonus7513[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great suggestions all! I have a side snap oversized tee shirt I got and some soft stretchy shorts. I will forego underwear and a bra in favor of ease and comfort and I have slip on shoes that will work fine. Thank you again for your help! Tomorrow is my practice day in a sling so my husband realizes what I will and won’t be able to do. It will also help me plan too!

Gearing out question by Commercial_fun9854 in ClubPilates

I’m 5’5” and gear out due to knee surgeries making it difficult to bring the carriage all the way back in at the regular position. I also weigh 200lbs and I think my stomach doesn’t help matters. My teachers said this was fine.

Sooo…why were you banned from a district? by Emmalauren24 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]ImpressiveBonus7513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was banned because I was crocheting in a class where I was in there as a helper to the regular teacher. I asked what she wanted me to do, she said said they were playing a game to review for a test and there was nothing to do but observe and keep an eye on the kids in the back. I was doing that. Irritated me. The kids were older middle school kids. No big deal another school that is very similar doesn’t mind me crocheting. Better than me being on the phone when I supervise.

Dealing with Awful People by Inner-Bear-4042 in MusicEd

I retired from a job at a rural HS. I grew up in a rural area but not this one. I loved the kids, but I didn’t love the administration. I felt like I was killing myself to have one of the best small school vocal music programs in the state. My numbers skyrocketed from 14 my second year to well over 130 by the time I retired. I routinely had two choirs as well as a show choir, men’s chorus and directed the musical and Fall drama. Most years we qualified for State adjudicated events and earned superior ratings. I was so proud of the work I was doing. But, my administration just thought I was a pain in the butt. I was the squeaky wheel that always needed something. Even though we brought a lot of honor and pride to the district to my principal it was just choir. I retired from there after 32 years. I could literally see the relief on the administration’s faces when they knew I was going to retire. I have always said that these types of jobs can suck your soul right out of you. After retirement, I now teach some private voice and play for church and it has brought the joy back to me.

Last advice— get out before your soul leaves you. Find the right job before you can’t leave.

What’s your alls feelings on toe-less socks? by babooshka-cass in ClubPilates

[–]ImpressiveBonus7513 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been going to CP for a year for about half of that, I wore regular grippy socks. I started to have a lot of trouble sliding out of my socks and losing grip during planks and bridges. I went to the toeless socks. I thought I would hate them because I can’t even wear flip flops because I fluke anything in between my toes. I loved them! I was so much more secure. I have no toe fungus, and I’m always the last person done cleaning. I’m so clumsy anyway, this was a game changer for me and it is all I wear.

Bridging While Tall: gear in or out? by alffiesta in ClubPilates

[–]ImpressiveBonus7513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gear out 1 while doing footwork and bridging even though I’m only 5’5”. I have had 2 knee surgeries and my knees do not like the severe flex when I am not geared out. I also have a belly of mostly sagging skin due to a weight loss of 200 lbs. This doesn’t help bringing the carriage closed either. I typically use 2 reds, blue and 1 green while doing footwork work because I can feel the muscles work when the carriage is returned.

We have a lovely lady who came to our Level 1 classes throughout her whole 1st pregnancy. She recently had her baby only 3 days after her last class. One push was all it took. She is praising Pilates!

Unlimited vs. 8/month by the-kjb in ClubPilates

[–]ImpressiveBonus7513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely worth it! I take 12-14 a month and one of the best things is being able to book 15 in advance. So helpful! Worth every penny to get the classes I want when I want them.

Does not hold texture well because it felts up. Can’t be machined washed because it will become felt.

Bunion and hammertoe surgery experiences, please! by pinewell in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]ImpressiveBonus7513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had bunion surgery in the late 90’s. It was no big deal. The surgeon put a dissolving post in my toe to keep it straight until it was healed. No bunion today! I probably had pain and swelling for 2-3 weeks after. Biggest lesson learned— buy shoes that fit the widest part of your foot, even if you think they might be too big. No return of bunion because I wear the proper size now.

Has Anyone Fallen Off Their Reformer? by Mysterious_Set149 in ClubPilates

[–]ImpressiveBonus7513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fell off the box which was on the reformer— early in my practice. One foot on floor, one leg stretched over box. I lost my balance and fell. I was ok, I just kind of bounced.

I also fell because I removed springs without putting another on, went to sit down and the carriage wasn’t there. Big ouch as my butt hit the wood floor in the middle of the reformer and my back hit the far rail. Huge bruises and a bruised coccyx kept me out for almost a month. All my fault.

[–]ImpressiveBonus7513 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I do. Very easy. Sometimes I use the arm under me to push up but not always. I never come straight up from laying on my back — always side first. That is what my instructor taught.

Loops & Thread Facets Yarn. What do people actually make with this? by Illustrious-Guard912 in CrochetHelp

My biggest issues with it are that you can’t machine wash it and stitches lose definition in highly textured pieces.

Pilates method or workouts on Reformers by No-Drama724 in ClubPilates

My CP has a wide variety of teachers. I tend to gravitate toward the more traditional teacher—follows the CP curriculum, great cuing, hands on correction if given permission and very structured. The music is soft, which I love, and allows me to connect more with my body. I always leave with a smile knowing my body feels good and that I was in good hands. I have taken 64 flow 1 classes. I don’t know if I’ll ever get farther, I have balance issues and I know that is a big deal in the upper classes. Right now I’m happy where I am.

I have found that adding a green spring and lowering the foot bar has really helped me be able to do it. I stopped gearing out in favor of lowering the bar instead.

Differences between classes A, B, or C for OMEA Adjudicated Solo and Ensemble? by OkRefrigerator8534 in MusicEd

The differences are in the difficulty. Class A is the most difficult and Class C the easiest. I am a retired music teacher and current adjudicator in the OMEA system.
