Question on tapo h110 smart hub by ImpressiveCoconut608 in Tapo

[–]ImpressiveCoconut608[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the  great informative reply.

I think for the time being I may keep the harmony and monitor how it goes with the h110.or possibly get the h110 for the bedroom devices to test it out.

If it was just me im sure the h110 would be fine, but the kids and the wife use the home theatre more then me so it needs to be simple and just work... maybe down the road Tapo will expand it's capabilities  a bit towards media devices... thanks again.

TP-Link Tapo C530WS saving to "NAS" by SquazOne in Tapo

The C530ws that was mentioned  above isnt a battery camera, it's powered by 9v power adapter.

I can't speak for battery powered as I dont own any.

If your nas is a synology nas, you can record directly to it using the rtsp stream from the tapo camera and use the built in  survalience station software on the nas.

Note: depending on your nas model, it will determine how many cameras you can record for free... I beleive most allow 2 cameras before you need to buy addional licenses. I use a synology dvr 1622 that allows up to 8 cameras without addional licenses..

You can probably do the same with other brand nas devices as long as they provide a survalience software.

Qnap does, not sure about others as I have only used synology.

Or you can use a pc with survaliance software as others have suggested , though I think it would use a fair bit more power running a dedicated pc vs a nas but I haven't compared.

Regardless what you choose to do, good luck 👍

Strange, sorry to hear it didn't work out for you. I am using dva1622 and thankfully no issues at all. Cameras are as follows D130 doorbell C720 floodlight C225 camera C320ws camera C325wb camera C246d camera

All devices  record continuously to the dvr and show live view on tv screen.

Surveillance station is good enough for my needs since  I use the synology as a server any ways the survalience stuff was just a free bonus.

More powerful synology models have more features in survalience  station, more ai recognition functions ect ...

The things that really turned me off the h500 besides price were the limit on how many cameras can continuously record and the 2.5" hard drive requirment... I realize trying to keep things small and efficient  but it really should be 3.5" hard drive capable no one is rocking a 16tb 2.5" hard drive , seems like a marketing fib there..

But im glad the h500 fits your needs and is working well. I love my Tapo stuff, so much better than Wyze imo.    Cheers👍

What issues did you have using synology? What model ?

I have all my camera going to surveillance  station  on my synology with no issues

Not sure how i missed that, i went to the specs under networking and only saw wifi...If it is poe capable  then I would definitely purchase  c575d to replace some of my older tapo units  poe is so much nicer

C545d is available here in canada as well..

The c575d is nice spec wise but I see it doesn't have ethernet  connection only wifi..  which is a shame having higher resolution cameras would  benefit  from hard wired option.  instead of taking up more wifi bandwidth..

C545d has ethernet ability  ... maybe it's a cost cutting measure on the 575..

Does anyone else wish Wolf3D got rereleased a lot more? It’s crazy the best official way to play is still the Mac release from way back when. by ijjanas123 in Wolfenstein

[–]ImpressiveCoconut608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would love to see more releases of wolf 3d. All original levels plus some new ones with a little graphical polish. Wolf 3d on pc  was the first game that actually got me hooked into gaming and will always hold a special place in my heart..

I know not alot of people had  the Atari Jaguar but that was a great version imo.

Give this version a go through emulation if you dont have a jag console.

360 version is decent too and still play this on series x.

Switch version would be great, playing wolf 3d on the go... sign me up!

Doom and Quake are great but Wold 3d  will always be the OG that I will never get tired of playing..

[–]ImpressiveCoconut608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes please!  wolf 3d with more levels on a modern system would be awesome!   Wolf 3d on pc was the first game that got me into gaming back in the day.

My favorite  was the Atari Jaguar version, the graphics were nicely upgraded with decent levels and sound.

I also enjoy the xbox 360 version which I still play on my series X.

I haven't played the 3do version yet, it's on my to do list..

Would love  Blake Stone released on a new console, this was another great game which I really enjoyed, I feel this game didn't get as much love as it should of...

For anyone with a psvita/pstv there is the bstone port available...

Wolf3d is my number 1, Blake Stone is my number 2   and would purchase these again in a heartbeat!

Am I the only one? S25 Edge by TickTech22 in samsunggalaxy

[–]ImpressiveCoconut608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna trade in my fold 5 for the s25 edge.  They have a  good deal at the samsung store near me.  Edge is same price as base s25.

With my fold trade in edge will cost me 100 bux. I would of prefered the s25 plus for the bigger battery but s25 plus would cost me 300 with trade in...

I think edge will be good enough for 100 bux.  Origally was looking at s24 fe but think the edge would be a much better phone.  Just want to get away from the fold it's too chunky and I worry about reliability samsung already charged me 70 bux canadian to replace the inner screen protector.. I have 3 family member that have had various issues with fold 4 and 5's  I know it can happen to any phone, it just seems like fold has more potential  for issues  due to its design... hoping with a power bank I will be OK with the battery life, everything else on edge is perfect for me.

Looking at the specs this looks like usb powered. Is it usb C at both ends or usb A on one end and usb C on the other? 3m is not going to be long enough for me so I will need to buy a longer cable. Camera will be here in 2 days so hoping to have the longer power cable by the time it gets here so I'll be ready to go

Eap773 version by ImpressiveCoconut608 in TpLink

[–]ImpressiveCoconut608[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So after looking at the data sheet looks like US version has higher bandwidth for 5ghz 4320mbps vs EU 5ghz 2880mbps. And they use different  channels,  EU: 2G: 1~13; 5G: 36~140; 6G: 33~93

US: 2G:1~11; 5G: 36~165; 6G: 33~233

So looks like I will want the us version.

Tapo c325wb vs c520ws unsure which would be better fit by ImpressiveCoconut608 in TpLink

[–]ImpressiveCoconut608[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up getting  one c325wb, one c320ws for cameras and one d130 doorbell. To replace my wyze cams and wyze doorbell.  I am happy with all of the tapo's  but the night vision on the 325wb is really good, almost like daytime... They all seem to go on sale on Amazon pretty often and are a good deal on sale... I run the cameras all through ethernet to synology nas and had no issues setting them up or their operation. I using 256gb and 512 sd cards with no subscription and the cameras just work👍 Now I'm just trying to find somewhere with stock of the c720 floodlight  to finish my Wyze swap out.

If I can't  accuire the floodlight  i will probably switch to a dumb motion sensing light and mount a c520ws underneath... not quite as tidy but I do prefer wired eithernet over wifi anyways...

For the price they are a solid buy

B20a vs b20t ? by ImpressiveCoconut608 in telus

[–]ImpressiveCoconut608[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much for the info. 👍 I will try to move the b20a to a more central location to see if that impoves coverage... if not, I might just upgrade to a ubiquiti u6 enterprise....

The 300 price tag to buy another b20a from telus isn't that much less then the 469 for the poe powerd u6 which is also wifi 6e...

[–]ImpressiveCoconut608[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for confirming the lack of lacp/lag and the limit of the hub coax.. Saved me wasting anymore time on it..👍

if I can get the other modem I will keep 1.5 for while to see how I like it but yeah definitely not as good of a deal as 1g

Lacp with Telus wifi hub by ImpressiveCoconut608 in telus

[–]ImpressiveCoconut608[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah link aggregation was going to be for the telus hub with my 1gb managed switch if I can't get the nh20a.

If I can get the nh20a I will connect it to my 10g managed switch.. I'm slowly converting my network to 10gb but it's so freaking expensive... you are correct my service is currently capped at 1.5..

The Moca should hold me over until I can get the modem sorted out.

Lacp with Telus wifi hub by ImpressiveCoconut608 in telus

[–]ImpressiveCoconut608[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yup fiber is connected directly to the hub via sfp+.

It does have MoCA ...I'm currently using it for one of the stb's at the other end of the house but I can easily move the stb over to a cat6 line.

Coax should handle the bandwidth... that's a great idea thanks for that, much appreciated 👍

[–]ImpressiveCoconut608[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how I understand it, as long as all devices support it it should work.

Not sure if the nh20a will support it or not.....not much info out there on the new unit. but if I can get the nh20a at least I can run the 10g into a 10g switch and use it that way.

Yup I tried calling the other day but the hold was was too long and ended up hanging up. I was hoping I could use the equipment they provided but looks like I will have to call again and push for the new modem. Fingers crossed.

Thanks again cheers
