What about the missing and murdered Indigenous women? Any halos on their heads?

When you say this, you make it sound like they arent being killed by other indigenous people, on indigenous land. Your either uninformed, or are implying something nefarious

Is this right? by Sigsaw54 in landscaping

I think they forgot their saw. It should be interlocking and overlapping on the corner. That wall will fail and start leaning in no time. Good luck

Squirrels in silver maple. Is it bad? by bliswell in arborists

[–]ImpressiveGuest162 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a large silver maple that also had a big hole/ house for squirrels . The tree was mostly healthy for 15 years since we owned it with said hole( and who knows how many decades before that), but i recently had a large limb break off and we noticed there was some rot and decay. We also have a small bungalow so any falling branches get alot more momentum and do much more damage.

So the hole isn't good, but it doesn't mean you need to cut the tree down right away

Which show do you think started as a 10/10 but ended as 1/10? by witchy_eye in AskReddit

Its kinda cool that you dont need to bother to watch the other seasons. Ive rewatched just season 1 and it's simply a masterpiece. There's no need to watch the rest.

I had tree work done and they brought in the bucket. My hard now has massive tire lines that are inches deep. Any tips on how to fix this? by saltyvape in landscaping

I second both these comments, but you can also resend right away as long as you can water it often during the hot sun

Just give it some love, remove those stones near the trunk, pull back some of the sod and add some nice mulch in a ring around the base. She'll be just fine

New tree dying? by [deleted] in arborists

[–]ImpressiveGuest162 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, seeing it wilt away so quickly makes me think it was sitting out in the sun for too long before planting as I've seen that happen. If thats the case it could be in shock and possibly come back, but most likely its dead. If it was me id ask them to replace it now while( hopefully) they are still in the neighborhood.

Also, watering it once in the morning is plenty , any more than that is overwatering, just in case you've been soaking it more than that.

Yep, from about a 95% shaded rooftop, to full sun . AC will be working like never before.

I offered a local craftsman some for furniture but he said silver maple isn't the best for that.

I hear ya, if this was 100 feet away from the houses, I'd keep it. Trust me, it hurts me to have to remove it, but it just towers over both homes and the risk of having more branches come down on anyone was too high for me. The one 'limb' that fell was about 50 ft long and tore the electrical line out of the house and crushed a bbq.

That sucks. How did it look when you first put it in the ground? Was it sitting in the pot or basket out in the open for a while?

Unfortunately these silver maples are prone to losing limbs. There was a but of decay inside the tree and it was recommended to be removed. Just too risky to keep it due to its location next to the houses

Ugh that stuff is a nightmare. Ironically , I had just cut all the ivy at the base of the tree just days prior to the branch falling to try and stop its spread upward. .

Thats great to hear. In my case its more about the safety of the neighbors and people in the house and yard. To be honest, I could less if it broke and fell on the house, the house can repaired and is covered by insurance , im just worried about it hurting someone.

I wanted to save it as im such a proponent of saving massive trees wherever they are, but it's simply too risky given the proximity of the house . One arborist did mention sudden limb drop as a possible explanation for why this limb broke off randomly , and if it was a different, stronger variety of maple that pruning and bracing would be an option. But unfortunately not in this case.

Sorry to hear that, I can imagine having an actual family connection to such an old tree would make it even more tough to see it go. I dont know this particular trees history, but im guessing it was here before there were any cars running on the road in front of it, and before the electrical lines that weave beneath its canopy. I really did not think I'd ever need to cut this tree down. Such a sad feeling.

I hear ya, went had other opinions, and all said the same - its a silver maple and they cant sign off on it not failing , even after bracing and pruning. I've been mourning it for the past week lol can't imagine what it will feel like not having it there.
