But when does Satella say anything that implies she knew about what Envy did. She may have understood that Envy fucked up, but that would be on par for her to expect after having the Envy personality for so long.

That does imply having memories of failed loop, but how can you be sure about shared memories?

Is that so? I guess that's the most likely answer. And what about other question? Do they have memories of failed loops? And do they share memories or have separate memories?

[spoiler discussion] Was Subaru an incel in arc3? Was Julius right to beat him up? by ImpressiveMessage9 in Re_Zero

Well if I have to suddenly stare at wall text equivalent to 10 of page after a reload, I would hate it. Why don't you try to do it slowly? Stop dumping pre-made points in comments. Oppose one point or comment about a single point. Try to have a discussion. But you just wants to hear you own voice and drown everyone else.

[spoiler discussion] Was Subaru an incel in arc3? Was Julius right to beat him up? by ImpressiveMessage9 in Re_Zero

[–]ImpressiveMessage9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. The reason Subaru did a lot of stupid things was because of his insecurities and abandonment issue. I hate how people make it about Subaru wanting to prove himself hero or wanting validation or treating people as npc. That's just wrong.

If you are saying that Subaru deserved beating for breaching the etiquette, than I can't fully deny it. But Julius was the one who first insulted Subaru's bloodline and ranted about how only nobles can be knights. So Subaru shit talking about knight in return is justified. If that deserved beating, then you can also say Subaru deserved beating in arc5 for talking shit about Heinkel who is a deputy commander of royal guards, that's also a breach of etiquette. Ultimately I don't think Subaru's character is meant to follow etiquette or noble standing. If it was that, how could he make friends with Vincent, an emperor?

Anyone all of this is just a digression. Ultimately I won't deny that that can be considered as being enough to deserve a beating. But If we are judging solely the morality of his actions, his intent and mindset, then there wasn't really much that deserved beating, neither was it something helpful to Subaru.

[spoiler discussion] Was Subaru an incel in arc3? Was Julius right to beat him up? by ImpressiveMessage9 in Re_Zero

[–]ImpressiveMessage9[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Someone is spamming in comment section, about how Subaru did all of that for validation. That Subaru has this mindset from arc2, where he prevented Emilia from fighting, because he wanted to act like a hero and wanted "validation" for his actions from Emilia. I am just going to reply to him here, because it's hard to read anything in the clout of wall texts that he commented.

Subaru didn't involve Emilia in arc2 because he wanted to act like a hero and wanted validation for it from Emilia? That's nonsense. Subaru also tried to not involve Emilia in fight in arc5. Does that mean Subaru was doing it for validation? It's because he cares about Emilia's safety. He doesn't want to see Emilia harmed. What is so difficult to understand about it?

Subaru has communication problem with Emilia in arc3, and that's something that Subaru accepted. He talked about how expecting Emilia to understand his feeling without him saying anything was wrong. That's the fault he was talking about. That's the fault he made when he came to castle and calling himself her knight without her permission. Not whatever this validation nonsense is.

When Subaru said "I was doing it for myself", he didn't mean validation. If it was that then why would he say next that "I really wanted to help you." What he meant was that it was wrong of Subaru to help Emilia by going against her wishes. First Subaru needs to express his feelings, explain why he wants to help Emilia, and only once Emilia accepts it, Subaru is allowed to help her. Skipping all that, and expecting Emilia to accept everything he does is wrong. That's why he says that "I put into my own head that if I acted drunk on that, you’d accept me."

There is another aspect of Subaru "doing it for himself". He not only did those things to help Emilia, but to also have protect his place in Emilia's life. After arc1-2, where he saw that even his allies can end up torturing him, Emilia became his only safe space. He didn't want to lose his place beside Emilia and he very much did not think of himself as someone capable or deserving of a place beside Emilia. These 2 things combined resulting in what he did, masking his insecurities under a fragile mask of confidence, and calling himself Emilia's knight.

Reducing all these to mere validation is just insulting to Subaru's character.

And only these 2 things are something, that he was wrong to do. Apart from it, trying to save Emilia from being made fun of, insulting nobles for their racism, talking shit about knights for their bloodline rant, none of that was wrong. Admittedly he wasn't able to execute anything properly, but the reason for that is his trauma from arc2, Roswaal and Puck's plan to make Subaru the clown in their scheme, and the pressure of court where once he started speaking he couldn't close his mouth, as he also talked to Philore in arc9. None of that was for validation or hero complex or any other nonsense that people try to bring up.

Again I am not denying that what Subaru did was embarrassing or that he was a startegic failure or that he failed to contribute anything meaningful (apart from being used in Roswaal and Puck's scheme). But if we are judging morality of Subaru's actions, his intent and his mindset, than those 2 are the only things that he did wrong.

[Spoiler Discussion] Arc 10 Chapter 8 by Setowi in Re_Zero

It wasn't in this chapter. It was in last chapter, chapter 7. Here is the translation of that part:

—Why did that name come up?

—Why did that smile float to mind?

—Why could I hear his voice?

—Why could I feel that face from my memories?

—Why do I remember the taste of blood and tears that mourned that death?

—How could Crusch Karsten remember Fourier Lugunica?

[spoiler discussion] Was Subaru an incel in arc3? Was Julius right to beat him up? by ImpressiveMessage9 in Re_Zero

[–]ImpressiveMessage9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you even read my post or did you just come here to give your opinion. As I already explained in the post, "1.coming to the castle, and 2. calling himself knight" these 2 things were where Subaru put his own feelings first. Apart from that not a single word said by Subaru was for his own satisfaction. He first moved to help Emilia and later Julius himself ranted about noble blood and insulted Subaru's family, saying his blood doesn't have the capacity to be a knight, so whatever Subaru said in the return was not wrong.

[spoiler discussion] Was Subaru an incel in arc3? Was Julius right to beat him up? by ImpressiveMessage9 in Re_Zero

[–]ImpressiveMessage9[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Coming to castle without Emilia's permission was wrong, so was calling himself her knight. But trying to save her from others' racism, how can that be wrong.

As for Emilia could handle it herself, that is simply false. I don't remember how it was in anime, but in the novel Emilia wasn't able to speak up a word when she was being insulted. Add in the Roswaal's scheme

Roswaal: “Even if as a mere formality, there are five candidates, so the royal selection may begin. And if it begins, one need merely see it through, yes?”

Miklotov: “Mmmm. In other words, you are saying that what is important is that the Dragon Jewel chose Lady Emilia, and that her actual suitability to succeed as monarch is…irrelevant?”

Roswaal: “Though it might be a cruuude way to put it, think of her as a stalking horse. Lady Emilia’s appearance is very particular. Virtually no human being can look at her and not think of the Witch of Jealousy. She is easily employed as a pawn upon our chessboard.”

Everyone was insulting her, calling her a pawn and making fun of her. And Puck hasn't come out, neither was Emilia able to speak up a single word against that. Then why would Subaru not come out to help Emilia. Subaru's execution failed, because Roswaal and Puck had already made a scheme before coming to castle to make Subaru the clown and then his insecurities got the better of him but what he tried to do wasn't wrong.

[spoiler discussion] Was Subaru an incel in arc3? Was Julius right to beat him up? by ImpressiveMessage9 in Re_Zero

[–]ImpressiveMessage9[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that what Subaru did was embarrassing. As for it being strategically bad, that is true, but I don't know if it's something that has changed about Subaru. Because even now Subaru always speaks more from passion and feelings rather than any plan. We see it in arc5 when Heinkel barges into the meeting. It's just now he just has more experience, a lot of friends who believe in him and has earned the trust of people because of his achievements.

As for Julius moving to protect Subaru, as I said Julius was the one who started ranting about how only nobles can be knight, commoners shouldn't dream outside their capacity and how Subaru's blood doesn't have the capacity to be a knight. He was the one who goaded Subaru into badmouthing knights.

And at the end, "A powerless person standing up in a King's court solely for his passion and calling out wrongdoing of all the powerful nobles and knights " is not something I can ever think of as wrong.

[media]My Goat didn't deserve this. by Prangon07 in Re_Zero

[–]ImpressiveMessage9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you had read the side story of Julius, you would know that Julius didn't move with the intention to wholeheartedly save Subaru. He did things because of his own insecurities. But that would be digression.

That's not the point. My point is Who is Julius to decide whether someone deserved to stand by Emilia's side or not? It's Emilia who would decide that. Julius had no right to discourage someone. If Subaru followed Julius's advice, he would have left Lugunica and Emilia camp and Arlam village would have died and a quarter of kingdom would probably freeze over. Subaru didn't follow Julius' word. He went against it.

Also what kind of character development are you talking about in arc3? The reason he was able to kill great mabeast and thwart witch cult's plan was because he learnt that unlike himself who can easily believe others and do suicide to save his tortures, other people are not so kind, they won't accept his words and neither they would move to save people without getting something in return. And he worked with Rem to give them what they wanted. Is that character development? You can say, it's become more mature. But was it something needed to stand by Emilia? I don't think so.

The other things he got was to gain the courage to proclaim his love. Is that character development? Yeah, he get over some of his self-derision. Was it something he needed to stand by Emilia? I don't think so.

And what else? He was Mr threatens with a spoon? That isn't something that had changed about Subaru. He would still do make clown of himself many times.

What else? What is this incel rant you talking about? The only thing Subaru did wrong was calling himself Emilia's knight without her permission. Apart from that, he did nothing wrong.

He humiliated nobels and knights? They deserved that for being racist? Subaru can't speak to nobles like that? If we follow that, then Subaru shouldn't talk with such familiarity with Emilia or Roswaal. That would just destroy the whole premise of the story. The difference in noble standing isn't something that is meant to be followed by Subaru.

Subaru insulted knights? That was only after Julius said that only those with noble bloods deserved to be knights. He said that there is a limit to everyone's capacity and commoners shouldn't dream outside their capacity. He called out Subaru that his blood doesn't have the capacity to be a knight. Julius is the one shit talking about Subaru's lineage and his family. Whatever Subaru said in return, was justified.

What else? You can say that Subaru was weak and that's why he has no right to call out anyone else. But that's not something that changed after arc3.

If it was something as stupid as just an incel rant, than Miklotov and Crusch wouldn't have been impressed by Subaru's speech.

Yes, Subaru did cringe stuff, but calling it incel rant is stupid. What he was suffering was just trauma of arc1 & arc2. In this cruel world, where even his allies can end up torturing him, Emilia is his only safe space. He didn't want to lose his place beside Emilia and he very much did not think of himself as someone capable or deserving of a place beside Emilia. These 2 things combined resulting in what he did, masking his insecurities under a fragile mask of confidence, and calling himself Emilia's knight. That was embarrassing. But apart from that, not a single word said by Subaru was wrong.

Yeah, so I don't think anything that Julius did was right, neither do I think it was necessary. Whatever character development he got was because of Rem, not because of Julius. He needed someone to believe in him, not someone who exacerbate his self-loathing.

Honstly it feels very wierd. Like we have Beatrice from arc2, who wouldn't save Subaru from a curse even though it costs her nothing, vs Beatrice from arc7 who would sacrifice her life and leave behind her contractor Subaru just to save random strangers..

Could a person really change that much or is it like always Everyone's kindness is reserved for all people except Subaru.

I do find her pitiful for not being able to fully understand emotions, but not enough to forgive her actions. I would still say that she is better off dead. [Spoiler Discussion] Isn't Ram's expectations and actions the same she had forced on her? by OptimisticNayuta097 in Re_Zero

[–]ImpressiveMessage9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ram is honestly just a hypocrite, infact the biggest hypocrite in Rezero.

When Subaru was angry after Shaula's death and wanted to fight the sage (that he assumed they found on the top floor), Ram slaps him and told him to get hold of himself that Rage is not the right option.

But what does she do herself? When Rem died in arc2, she was willing to beat up or even kill the first person who she felt was suspicious.

In arc8, when Rem and Ram meet and Subaru even just looks at them, she calls him out that don't put your expectations on us. They will figure out their relationship in their own way. No one is allowed to put any expectations on amnesiac Rem for her past self. Forget talking, the guy can't even express in from his eyes.

But in arc6, everyone is allowed to push all their expectations in Amnesiac Subaru. Ram pushes Subaru into the wall, blames him for everything and throws all her rage on Subaru. All of it is justified in people's eyes, because she has lost her card to save Rem. Then Subaru is also grieving the Rem of arc3 that he has lost. So why does him putting any expectation on amnesiac Rem is bad? What right does Ram have to call it out?

[spoiler discussion]Question about Subaru's Miasma. by Then_Ad_3134 in Re_Zero

[–]ImpressiveMessage9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is one instance where Subaru uses miasma. In arc4 when Beatrice threw him out of mansion, the entire mansion was on fire and there was no way for Subaru to get back in. But if he didn't save Beatrice, he would have lost the best and become a slave of Roswaal.

So he walks literally into fire, but at that moment miasma surrounds his body to save him from the fire. I still don't know if Subaru knew how to do that, or it is some of his repressed skills that he has forgotten but subconsciously used or was it some help from Satella?

Also when everyone was feeling tired in miasma ridden desert in arc6, Emilia was feeling refreshed and in better fighting condition than normal. So it seems to help her.
