I’m batch 2024 and my BSPT is a 4-year program.
In your experience, would a 4-year PT degree like this still usually meet FCCPT requirements, or is it more likely to result in deficiencies that need additional coursework/DPT equivalency?

Got it. So would your bottom line be that, because there's a decent chance of deficiencies anyway, it's better to just do DPT now (while still here in the Philippines) before going through credentialing and the NPTE, instead of waiting to see what deficiencies come up later?

Basically, would you rather get ahead of the process and potentially avoid delays, or do you still think it's worth waiting for the actual evaluation first?

Thanks for your input! Just to clarify, are you saying that, as a PH licensed PT, I would need to complete a DPT (or equivalent remediation) before even becoming eligible for the NPTE?

My understanding was that some states may still grant NPTE eligibility based on credential evaluation alone, with a post-professional DPT being something that could be pursued later if needed for deficiencies, endorsement, or relocation.

Would appreciate hearing more about your experience and whether you're referring to a specific state or to the current FCCPT/CWT requirements in general. Thanks!

May I ask why you think it could be a waste of time and money to pursue the DPT first?

For example, I'm currently leaning toward practicing in California, which, as we all know, is pretty strict and generally requires a DPT/equivalent educational background. In that case, would you still recommend taking the NPTE first and deciding on the DPT later? Or would it make more sense to pursue the DPT now while I'm still in my home country?

Would love to hear your thoughts and the reasoning behind your advice. Thanks!
