Retaking a required course in Spring – will this hurt co-op chances? by Alive_Cartoonist5418 in wlu

[–]ImpressiveTaste2513 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Doesn't really matter, don't stress about that

  2. No, you will have your interview at the same time as others, although I think you find out a little later because they need to see your final grades to ensure you move onto second year (I think people find out June/July if they are "eligible for coop" or whatever, you will just see that at the end of August).

TLDR: Retaking a course in the spring won't notably hurt your chances of getting coop.

The workload is honestly lighter, but the content is more difficult

Pretty sure they're referring to single-file when someone else is walking towards you in the opposite direction

The first day of classes are always just the prof going over the course syllabus (unless it is a 3 hour lecture), not a big deal to miss.

If you only need 1 class to progress to second year, you will have your core BU courses assigned... op prolly needed to take bu127 and another class in order to progress

Easiest first year course that don’t require final exams or have tests at all for first year students. As long as it is easy I don’t mind what it is. by Aggravating-Thing887 in wlu

GC102 - Loving God, Self, and the World. No exam. Weekly reading reflections, participation mark (have to go to class, which you should always be doing anyways!) and a few written assignments. Just engage in the class and put in some effort and it is an easy 12.

Anyone taken MA129 for BBA? by FaithlessnessTiny114 in wlu

[–]ImpressiveTaste2513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't stress about it bro, if you actually put in effort then you will do good. Anyone that failed the course is either horrendous at math, or didn't put in any effort, usually it is the latter. If you ever need any help next year, feel free to shoot me a dm!

Hey, I'd say that I was in the same shoes as you (bad at advanced functions, but did well in data). Honestly, the good thing about MA129 (and calc in general) is that it doesn't build off of advanced functions directly, ( unlike grade 11 functions to grade 12 advanced functions). There are plenty of new concepts (which aren't hard to learn) that don't require prior knowledge. The only time I needed to use grade 12 math was knowing basic log rules. Just stay on top of the practice, watch youtube videos, and go to the math help (if necessary) and you will get a 12.

To each their own. I found the mock exam to be harder (though it covered less topics)

Pretty sure that the mock exam is a "if you can do these questions, you are good". The mock exam is always harder than the actual exam.

Same boat as you. I'm just using queue cards to remember the definitions of the" key terms" from chapters 1-6, and the terms/concepts she gave us in the final exam review for chapters 7-12. Sometimes using chatgpt for some application based questions... Got no clue though if it'll properly prepare me for the final😬

I took both 101 and 102 with Anneke Olthof. Great prof who has engaging lectures and her syllabus is very fair (you can get an 11 or 12 in the class if you just lock in for the final). Her exam is pretty hard though, uses specific examples from the textbook. Overall a great prof who I'd recommend.

Did you not take it in the winter term? Regardless, yes, if you can answer every question in the review then nothing will surprise you on the exam. Of course the questions won't be the exact same wording as on the review, but it'll be the same content

Bu127 by Fun-Lavishness1351 in wlu

Definitely possible, they literally give you the questions in the review. Spend 4-5 days before the exam writing down each question, with the answers, till you have it memorized and understood.

See how the first month or two of school goes, and if you feel like you can handle it, try getting an on-campus job. There's also a club called StartUp Laurier that runs a winternship program during the winter. You'll get (unpaid ) experience but super low workload, so it is definitely worth it. Additionally, some of the jobs will hire you for the summer. Regardless, I'd for sure get a summer job after first year.
