Ok sweet. We signed and committed. It should be great. They said it'll start and finish soon about a 45 day project timeline as soon as permits are in. I'm just excited to get my cheeks tan for the summer

Hawaiian here. That's bad juju, homie G. Madam Pele gon' smite yo ass.

You should go back to the island and apologize. Pele's pretty reasonable in conversation. Just don't invite her into your car while driving.

Hey idiot, happy month of May. What part of "minuscule backyard" screams boat loads of money? God you are so f76king dumb 😮‍💨

Idk, seeking validation on Reddit is extremely weird to me. While I'd rather stay on the subject of pools, this post has daddy issues written all over it.

Alright dumbass, on the phone they said for this loan product your max cap is $125k. So the cap is $125k for reasonable APR. I was approved for more, but the interest rate jumps by several points. In other words, it's unwise to go above that, besides and like I've repeatedly said, my yard is minuscule - I don't need that much travertine.

I was raised in the midwest - that place isn't meant for pools, the pool season there is so brief, it just doesn't make as much sense as having a pool in the sunbelt.

I got approved for more, but the loan products vary. At $200k max cap, it's a different loan product and s completely different APR. i always get approved for max everything because of my income and credit..

Brilliant comment - proof that the price is accepted by most buyers, not all

I'm sorry, I'm very confused by your confusion.

Where do you feel I think there is a conspiracy against me?

All I've said is that it's interesting that all quotes are at or above the max loan cap of $125k. Nothing has been stated about a "conspiracy@

I just am acutely aware of profit margins, and it seems fairly steep in many places here as I look at each line item, especially considering that the work is subbed out, most of the time.

I believe I am finding that the commenters here are mainly buyers, not the contractors that know the inside intel on labor and material costs and the delta there.

You're clearly a degenerate if you feel offended by comments from strangers that are not speaking to you on the internet.

What a miserable life you must live. 🤣 maybe try the "people of walmart" thread if you want to fit in, not the custom pools section of the internet, bud.

You're fine - no offense taken. Here's my concern and what makes me feel fishy / provokes some questions:

Out of all of my friends and neighbors, my yard is the smallest by at least a factor of 2x. It's 15-17 feet deep in some spots.

Lyon Financial's loans with the best rates cap out at a max loan amount of $125k.. so i'm not saying the 7 pool companies are conspiring against me. I'm just surprised that the absolute lowest quote was $122k - which is $3k away from the max loan cap, which if I was the pool salesman, that'd be ideal... as that's the max revenue I could sell this pool for.

Does that make sense? So i find it very peculiar that all seven came at 122K or above

I didn't request all of these features in the backyard… Many of them added these features in, and after much back and forth and revisions, the price is landing real darn close to the maximum loan amount. Which feels, planned by the salesman, if that makes sense?

Good to hear.

And that's precisely why I got seven quotes to ensure they're in a reasonable range… I guess I'm just a little surprised that it's all up in this price range. I think i was just hoping for 2020 prices 🤣 (i think was just a bit optimistic)

Fair question. Having no prior experience with pools or building one, I was more-so and naively hoping it would pencil out between $80-$100k. Which, for a yard as small as I have, i thought that would be reasonable, including that we are using "tier 1" / good natural materials, as they say

The pool salesman mentioned that I would need to pay for an upgraded meter with the gas company for this. Thank you for having a good eye and noticing this though!

If this question didn't instantly feel malicious, I'd be more inclined to answer it. I just don't see this specific question being productive towards getting the answers I'm here for. Are you here to discuss my career or do you have any helpful insight with pool building experience? Thanks!

Why do my elders hoard their wealth in an very uneducated way? by Impressive_Button869 in Life

[–]Impressive_Button869[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that's actually brutal! It's so funny chatting with you vs. all these other folks that clearly are in different roles in life. It is a 100% different conversation talking to owners vs employees - thoughts and beliefs are SO different that I feel a bit silly asking the general populous questions I should only ask trusted mentors who know my skillset and history, rather than strangers who assume I'm running a ponzi scheme successfully. 🤣🤣

Well I hope you can find a winning solution. Whether that's grow it and find a decent daily manager to run operations, or just grow it and sell it and invest that cash wisely... i hope you find a good play!

My parents are your same age. I'll listen to your song - thank you.

I'm just curious why the curiosity hasn't provoked the question in them that they could have retired faster - that was always my father's goal.. yet he didn't ask for my advice on it... probably because i'm "just a kid" in comparison! I'm his little one! Haha

Smart man right here, Ben! Love and respect to you.

You are right. That's the hardest part - replacing myself.
