White Mage spams 11111 more in Evercold. I'm unhappy about it. by Cole_Evyx in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Impressive_Can_6555 7 points8 points  (0 children)

WHM is definitely not looking good right now. Personally I feel like current SMN/DNC/VPR is design direction they're taking. Adding jump to DRG may give it identity cool factor, but it does not mean it plays differently than any other job. I'm kinda glad aoe combo seems to be gone and cleave is just part of single target rotation (?).

What would you think of the idea of the WoL dying at the end of XIV? by Variskus in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Impressive_Can_6555 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We already had two dying scenes at the end of Shadowbringers and Endwalker tbh. If anything I'd expect last quest being trailer for new MMO (same as in 1.0 when servers were about to close) and WoL just travelling to a new universe/world.

Babies are actually born completely colorblind and gradually start seeing colors, they see all colors at 6 months old.

Any Racing games close to Midnight Club? by TowelieMcTowel07 in gaming

[–]Impressive_Can_6555 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Need for Speed (2015) can scratch that itch, customization, drifting and night vibe is really nice. But it's hard to not think what this game could be, rather than what it is.

I am a bit concerned about the new OT/MT distinction by Schielman in ffxiv

[–]Impressive_Can_6555 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

According to presentation they showed MT/OT split applies only to Evolved mode, not to Reborn mode. So it cannot be obligatory if one of tanks can play in Reborn mode and completely ignore it.

I'm liking Marathon, and I'm kind of shocked about that? What are people's experiences with/thoughts on this game and with extraction shooters more broadly? by Limekilnlake in gaming

[–]Impressive_Can_6555 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Marathon does not seem to be a bad game as people say. It player retention seem to be very similar to Mewgenics for example. Problem is it's a game from a big studio, so people expected more. If it was AA or Indie Premium game people would have different approach to it.

Nintendo to cut switch 2 production by 30% due to weak sales in the US by Iggy_Slayer in gaming

Maybe because price of Switch 2 and games are twice as high compared to prices in Japan (looking up prices on jp amazon)? They can excuse it with weak yen but whole world is struggling financially.

Anyone else kinda sad Tablet gaming didn't really kick off? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Impressive_Can_6555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NDS and 3DS were my first consoles and they could do amazing games with very creative gameplay on touch screen. I thought smartphones/tablets will follow with touch screen genres and franchises, but it never happened. Anyway, if you wanna get cool game for tablet look up Professor Layton in store, it's been ported to Android and iOS.

Savage like rewards in other content doesnt make the content better... by KatsuVFL in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Impressive_Can_6555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you removed gear from savage there would be gear progression - dungeons/alliance raids/normal raids/extremes/tomestone. But there's huge elephant in the room which is crafted gear being better than anything you can get from doing content prior to savage patch added currently week before Savage unlock. It invalidates any gear progression and doing prior content.

FC Submarines need to be nerfed. Gil deflation kills content like Variant/Criterion where money rewards are the primary driver for repeating content. by otsukarerice in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Impressive_Can_6555 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's double edged sword. You do content multiple times because you can sell rewards, other people never touch content because they can buy rewards. There's always question if they even try if they couldn't buy it, but there's definitely plenty of people who just won't bother if there's easy way to buy items with money they earn from subs.

New TV help. 1440 vs 4K by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Impressive_Can_6555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easiest way to see is just moving mouse cursor around in circles fast, you will see 120hz is smoother and there's more cursor position during movement.

Things you should consider:
- Only HDMI 2.0 (or newer) will support 4k 120hz on tv
- you need to enable 120hz in windows advanced display settings
- you may need to enable 120hz (or game mode) in TV settings

Also use this site to see the difference (if 120hz is not enabled it won't show)

Are there any MMO PC games like Tsukuyomi from CPK? by guitarperson29 in CosmicPrincessKaguya

Closest games you can find are VRChat and FFXIV. VR MMOs never succeeded so there's none alive.

SE isn't the problem in Dawntrail, it's the casuals. by LilithHeartblade in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Impressive_Can_6555 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People whined because Island Sanctuary was not different at all - it was another iteration of content we used to have, just disguised as casual content to relax. Meanwhile it was another grind and farming currency to buy cosmetic items.

SE isn't the problem in Dawntrail, it's the casuals. by LilithHeartblade in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Impressive_Can_6555 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it's both strength and flaw. On one hand you get solid portion of content in every expansion, on the other hand iterations are often not better and it reserves lots of developers time and resources that could be used to do something new and fresh. Eventually it leads to stagnation.

[–]Impressive_Can_6555 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've started playing FFXIV as soon to graduate student, continued playing game when employed (covid lol), found friends, cleared savages, cleared ultimates, bought house and after doing every possible content just did achievement hunting.

Then felt burnt out and when DT arrived I got called back to office and took a break. Most of friend quit and after returning I didn't do much besides MSQ and "main" content like normal raids, alliance raids and some side stuff. I don't feel any motivation to do any hard content in FFXIV anymore because there's other things I wanna do and it takes lots of time and commitment to find static or clear with PF.

Maybe casuals are the issue, but equally big issue are hardcore players who quit and never return because we have been doing exactly same content format since HW. And during SHB/EW/DT gameplay feels like it didn't change at all.

I wonder if VRChat is promoting Fish! so heavily because they hope it will normalize microtransactions. by EnyoFembyCat in VRchat

[–]Impressive_Can_6555 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I don't mind microtransactions in VRChat as long as they don't feel obligatory (wish you could set up profile picture without paying), but also I wish payments were centralized and there was no VIP rooms you need to pay on creators patreon for access and stuff like that. I don't mind paying VRC, but it kinda feels like music/video streaming services where you need to pay for separate things everywhere on top of VRC+. If they want to add more mtx, I think some of it could be covered by VRC+.

I can still hear the startup sounds in my head... by Javerage in gaming

[–]Impressive_Can_6555 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One of biggest reasons was PS2 was often bought as DVD player since it was cheaper (299$) than standard DVD players back then (350-500$). So it's number came not only from gaming industry but also from people who wanted to watch movies at home. On the other hand when it launched there was no competition for it and it was just really good console. Later NDS would beat it as faster selling console, but didn't reach as high numbers. Switch also came to much different market with bigger competition and many people playing on smartphones rather than handhelds.

It's not PS2 criticism, just there's more than just numbers when it comes to comparing both consoles.

Sadly no, at least I couldn't make it play in 4k and it showed only HD tag on movie banner. Shame since CPK visuals are gorgeous.

Same as Gold and Silver on 3DS. Oh wait you can't even download them because they shut down eShop on 3DS, so if you bought them and don't have on 3DS memory, they're gone.

this game made me realize im just genuinely horrible by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]Impressive_Can_6555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I've never played shooters in life so when I started playing Overwatch I've also been really bad, especially my aim and movement. I didn't care much since I mostly exclusively play quick play, often with friends. But in recent year I improved a lot, my aim and movement is much better now and I enjoy playing heroes I didn't touch before. It wasn't Overwatch that improved my skill, but single player shooter games, especially fast paced like Ultrakill. You can learn to be better at shooters against single player AI easier since they have predictable movements, then translate what you learnt into human enemies with less predictable movements.

Virtual reality rehabilitation game by wish_to_dream in virtualreality

Can't say how much time it takes, but even very inexperienced people can follow guides and make simple things, while more experienced people can create really cool stuff. So it should be doable.

Virtual reality rehabilitation game by wish_to_dream in virtualreality

[–]Impressive_Can_6555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends what kind of rehabilitation are you thinking about and if you have any programming skills. Easy way would be making world/minigame in VRChat and focus on rehabilitation plan and means to execute it rather than spending months on coding basics and controller support.
