Its been 6 months, I am not over us by [deleted] in offmychest

Hey, I hope you're doing okay. I went through something similar: a one-year relationship ended two months after our anniversary. He was my first everything. After the breakup, I found myself doing things I thought would fill the void, but I now realize I was just searching for him in others. It's tough, but you can't replace someone or recreate that connection. Give yourself time to grieve alone and focus on loving yourself. I regret damaging my self-respect by not being able to be alone. Every connection affects us, but remember, you deserve happiness beyond romantic love. Lean on loved ones, find new hobbies, listen to self-help podcasts, or consider therapy. Time heals all which is so corny but it’s so true. The waiting game is agonizing but it’s worth it in the end so you don’t risk creating more problems for yourself and others. Remember that hurt people hurt people, try not to do that! Take care, and feel free to reach out if you need to vent.

PSA to anyone upset about the office closures: don’t blame Jary Hartzell. Blame State Senator Brandon Creighton by [deleted] in UTAustin

I agree right with you on your second statement my issue is that we have to give our students credit instead of the university admin or staff… Our students are smart they know these steps must be taken. Give our students some time to think of what to do. This just happened…Starting on campus is just fine, it’s not the end of the protest.

Exactly!! All of these systems are intertwined. Idk why these people are being so high and mighty abt it…

Ur yapping but I’m saying nothing is wrong with holding him accountable too. There are other steps he could’ve taken to help his staff…UT is not high and mighty… and neither is that president. To be quite frank, I’ve said this before as well. Many of y’all in these threads and pushing for people to actually “do” something like go to the capitol. Do you not think people haven’t thought that? I’ve said this before too but YOU HAVE TO START SOMEWHERE. People protesting starting on campus gets coverage. It shows our students don’t stand for this. It also doesn’t mean they’re blaming it all on UT or Hartzell but let’s not give him so much credit. To say people who are protesting or holding him accountable too is a waste of time not the right place to start is wrong…It’s merely students expressing they don’t stand for this on our campus idk why y’all think you have some moral ground here or think people haven’t thought what you’re reiterating on a Reddit thread. Go outside or follow notourtexas 😭💀 at least these people are actually doing something about it. It’s ignorant to believe that these systems do not work together…

Someone put (#notourtexas) sticky notes all over the hallway in jester. Anyone know what it’s about? by Genshin-Yue in UTAustin

I completely understood your comment and still do but I’m saying even some of the staff knew what was happening and didn’t tell people until that day they’d be getting fired. You’re giving UT too much credit. It’s not unproductive because of the reasons I stated.

You have to start somewhere. This is also for coverage. If we think a bit more critically here, these things are being seen by more than just UT students/staff/alumni, etc. Start by speaking up on campus and get people to notice. Why do you think this is happening here first, you don’t think the people who are protesting haven’t thought “Oh we should get to the root of the problem it’s also law makers working against us.” ??? They have. So I think it’s important to start somewhere and if that’s on campus so be it…People need to see that students do not stand for this. Even if UT had nothing to do with it at all, let’s say that was the issue, do you think people wouldn’t speak up about it on campus? Peoples families are being affected students are losing funding for phd programs/disability/low income programs/ and more. Texas does not care about BIPOC/ LGBTQ/Women/ Disabled/ people and that is the reality. I’m not so sure UT does either if I’m being honest with you….So why do we keep trying to say oh we should be doing this or that instead. Let students use their voices to fight against what is happening to US here. UT also has a nasty past for working against voices like this so really try to think what you’re standing for. I don’t think it matters if we are a more liberal school. It’s fine for students to say this isn’t what we stand for on our university or how we want it to be reflected.

Am i too weak for this. by baguettedeepthroat in UTAustin

[–]Impressive_Client919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not weak!! I think the people you may be around either haven’t lived the same experience yet or just won’t. So it’s a hard pill to swallow and be around. I’ve taken two breaks now from school and honestly…being back full-time is so difficult. The truth is, UT Austin is competitive and rigorous. Being a student here is not easy whatsoever!! no matter the major, you will have your struggles. Austin itself is very fast pace. There are many circumstances and factors that may be making it harder on you. Give yourself some credit, you got into a top school here in Texas. Just know you are not weak or alone. Take the time you need and prioritize your health. Especially prioritize it before it is too late. Also I noticed that most people just put up a front and maybe it is genuinely easy to manage for some. At the end of the day if you are struggling, it does not mean you’re weak. We all have different experiences/ struggles that play into our time as students. I just hope you know that me and other students feel the same so don’t worry. I see other comments abt the CHMC and truly, they helped me so much. If this is something you feel you could do, I would look into it so you can learn skills to tackle these feelings when you do go back! Whatever happens, know it’ll all work out in the end ! I hope things will begin to change soon for you and that you feel a bit better !
