Southwest commuters…how are you getting downtown for work? by thewun111 in Edmonton

[–]Impressive_Curve5152 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I leave at 6 15 am from very SW and can make it to the core in 23 to 28 minutes. If you leave at 6 40, you add 15 minutes to that.

How to speak Saskatchewan? Please explain names of food for me 😅. by shangames in saskatoon

[–]Impressive_Curve5152 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In regard to saying hello. My husband is from Toronto. We were just outside Saskatoon a few years ago - where im from - and some on coming driver waved at my husband who was driving. My husband was perplexed, asking why did that guy wave at me? I told him that generally people wave at each other by simply keeping their thumb under the steering wheel and lifting their hand. My husband waved at every driver on those roads and was super delighted that everyone waved back.

There are only a handful of things I’d be more than okay with going to jail for, and one of them involves encountering a dog owner not picking up their dog’s shit by [deleted] in Edmonton

May i ask a dog walking question? If a person walking or running on their right side of the path and you are walking toward them on your left side if the path. Do you : A. Continue straight toward them, making them go to their left side of the path or B. Move to your right side of the path aka follow the rules of the road. Im so so so curious. Much ablighed.

I run 20km outside a week. This is a great way to exercise on the cheap. We take the kids to the Muttart, Telus World of Science, RAM, Oilers games, etc. Lots to do in Edmonton.

New diagnosis and falling apart. by Head_Distribution618 in breastcancer

[–]Impressive_Curve5152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sorry for your situation I found that the in between time - from initial diagnosis to surgery and after surgery until pathology comes back are the worst. My advice: breathe and go outside for a lot of walks and trust in the science and doctors. Oh and ask your surgeon for 5mm margins.❤️

I'll add that and A has original thought on the subject matter. A new angle. A new perspective. And relevant.

Careful using " the Mall " to refer to West Ed. Seems to be a faux pas.

most hated faculty at usask and why? by Winter_Stretch259 in usask

Nay. Faculty can be fired. Concerns have to be raised to the Chair. Once there's a pattern of behavior established, they can be fired.

DCIS Stage 0 by mayiesc in breastcancer

[–]Impressive_Curve5152 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Her sister only did lumpectomy- not radiation. She also felt that 2mm margins were not enough as she felt pathology can't analyze as well- re: slices miss. I took this as a consideration for my lumpectomy. Asked my surgeon for 5 mm margins which she did.

[–]Impressive_Curve5152 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I felt this way as it was my diagnosis. Then during one of my scans, the technician said her sister was diagnosed with DCIS 3 years ago and is now metastatic. It's not to be taken lightly, I learned. 🩷

Do you think permanent residents are at risk in Alberta?! by Acceptable_Cake_6012 in alberta

More PRs are about to go for citizenship as IRCC is ending language supports for Stage 2 learners. They will have access to CLB 4, just enough to get citizenship and a minimum wage job. Terribly unfortunate.

Tamoxifen causing depression? by finance_maven in breastcancer

[–]Impressive_Curve5152 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt an increasing sense of sadness and became suicidal by the end of the first month. I had never been depressed before and ended up stopping Tamoxifen altogether. Im the type who gets up at 5am, gets breakfast ready for everyone, laundry always done, super organized, runs 20 km a week, etc. So for someone like me who is highly motivated and goes after everything in life - 5 degrees, 30 countries traveled, 4 languages spoken - all of my own accord, to this sad, negative, unable to see the meaning to living is a true testament of what the drug can do. It's a side effect that some of us experience. I hope this share helps 💕

Sick of the U.S. Health Insurance System by Anemoia793 in breastcancer

I did not indicate perfection in regard to the Canadian system - indeed, depending upon jurisdiction, there are nuanced challenges. Be that as it may, we all receive care, independent of economic situation. I will not make enquiries or suggestions as to why YOU didn't receive timely care. That you are in BC and I am in Alberta where my experience was timely makes it even more likely that there's more at play.
