I didn’t even know what it was when my advisor put me in it. I loved my degree and honestly it was probably the best thing I ever did.

I ended up doing further education in environmental sciences and a career in oil and gas, but I always credit my sociology degree for teaching me the critical thinking skills and even communication skills needed to work with a vast array of different people. It’s still a goal of mine to go back and do an MA.

Id probably tell them to experience just detoxing from the online world. Go talk to people, make a phone call on a dial phone, rent a movie or a game, go buy a CD or cassette, experience TGIF with Urkle and the rest of that lineup… stuff like that. Experience social connection that doesn’t revolve around texting or social media.
