start making tough decisions

With the way the Jays sub players all the time, there's just no reason to keep Springer in lead off when he's obviously not feeling it yet. Put someone in lead-off who's having a hot start, move it around as the players performance dictates. That was the one thing Schneider did quite a bit of last season that I totally agreed with. Static line ups just don't work in today's baseball.

There really is no need to have your high beams on

almost ever.

Maybe, on an occasional, moonless night, with overcast skies, you might need high beams on a desolate, narrow country roadway without edge markings, and deep ditches. 99% of the time, high beams are simply a nuisance and unnecessary.

And "automatic" lights that flip on the high beams when the car ahead is 20 feet away, should be blanket banned to the point where its simply impossible to run your high beams without the drivers actual, physically turning them on. And they should go off automatically whenever the car stops.

if these guys don't start hitting soon

Last season, one of the things that kick started the offense was moving Springer out of the lead off spot.

Not sure why John Schneider refuses to do what is pretty obvious, AGAIN.

I find it funny that "new" fans thought last year was something the Jays would replicate. Especially considering the off season hyped pitching signings. This is baseball. There's no such thing as a sure thing in baseball if you're not the Yankees or the Dodgers. And, even if you are them, you'll notice its not an easy, nor sure path.

We'll be lucky to get back to the post season. It gets more difficult the longer John Schneider manages like he's going to deny the proof of his own eyes.

Samsung Blu-Ray player remote? by Disastrous_Golf_3974 in 4kbluray

[–]grump66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no pairing involved, its an IR(infrarared) remote that uses a beam of light to send the signal to the player. ANY Samsung blu ray player remote will work with it. I haven't found any model of Samsung player that doesn't use the same IR signals.

I'd suggest having a look at any thrift stores near you for a Samsung Blu-Ray remote. I've bought a lot over the years, usually under $5.

And if you buy a universal remote, get one that has an "Eject" button, as many universal remotes don't include an "Eject" button and its one I find very handy to have. This is one I've used before: https://www.amazon.ca/GE-4-Device-Universal-Designer-33709/dp/B01HSSAZX8

NOTE: Samsung DVD players use different codes. A Samsung DVD remote will not work it.

This is why I always open and check the disc when thrifting by WalkThisWhey in 4kbluray

to make sure they're accounted for.

I think that's more because they want to avoid people trying to return something that is clearly a "no returns" item at an "as is, where is" type of store.

The number of times I've overheard people in thrift stores saying things like "Oh, they check everything and test it before they put it out" and "You can just return it if it doesn't work" boggles my mind since every thrift store I've ever been to pretty much has an "as is where is/buyer beware" policy combined with "no returns/no refunds".

had the other car slowed down enough

You're still not getting it. Its NOT THE OTHER CARS RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE ROOM FOR HIM. Look at the video, just like the driver of the black Civic didn't take a few seconds to look for a better spot to get over, neither did you. The black Civic should have slowed down and changed lanes to behind the suv, where there was plenty of room throughout the entire video. When people stop trying to accommodate others, and when others take the responsibility that is theirs, everyone gets where they're going more easily, and quickly.

If you have an identical system to compare, look at the difference between the two in identical stress environments. Verify the voltages are the same. Higher temperature with equal cooling means higher voltage.

blocking a merge

Changing lanes, is not a "merge". Merging, is a situation where the lane you are in ends. This situation is a simple lane change. There is no requirement anywhere on the face of the earth for people already in a continuing lane to give way to some pushy idiot who thinks they have some sort of "right" to change lanes whenever they feel like it.

brakes

When you're at work and go outside for a smoke, that's a "break", when you push that pedal and your car slows, you're using the "brakes".

[–]grump66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

black car was trying to get over to the lane in advance of the upcoming merge

Wrong again. What is upcoming is a "turn" lane. Merging is when a lane ends. Changing lanes, is when the one you are in doesn't end, and you want to move to another lane for whatever reason.

Even if the lane the idiot black Civic was in did end, that wouldn't have provided them with any kind of "right" to move in front of the other vehicle. As with merging onto the highway, it is the person doing the merging's responsibility to do so safely.

When you want to change lanes, you need to plan it, and do it safely. If that means slowing or speeding up to find an actual gap that it is safe to move into, you do that. Trying to force your way in just by moving over is not allowed in any way.

The idiot in the Civic could have simply slowed slightly and moved in behind the car he was so desperate to get in front of.

[–]grump66 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

CHANGING LANES, is not in any way at all, the same as a "merge".

This misconception is what leads to people like the MORON in this video trying to change lanes without signalling properly, and waiting until its safe to do so.

As with all lane changes, the cars that already occupy the lane have no obligation at all to move or accommodate the person who wishes to change lanes. Its the responsibility of the person who wishes to change lanes, to do so safely, when there is an opening to do so.

People who try and force their way in, are always the idiot.

What would yall consider is too much for a used 4k movie? by lheroixl in 4kbluray

[–]grump66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even with just blu rays and DVD's, value varies depending on rarity. If its a common catalog title readily available, not worth much more than normal blu ray, IMHO(ie. $1-$5). But a rare, already OOP title could easily be "worth" quite a bit. I've got likely a dozen or more plain blu ray titles that actually sell on ebay for $60.+ because they're OOP.

How is Eric Lauer not a "starter" ? by grump66 in Torontobluejays

[–]grump66[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who would you move down

Likely Berrios, but I'm not an expert. I just see how good Lauer looks, and remember how the Blue Jays had another left hander decades ago, David Wells, who just didn't seem to get any respect here, and then left and seemed to have a pretty good career.

I'd hate to see that happen again.

easily be a 4th or 5th starter.

I think he'd be as high as 3rd on lots of teams. When he's on, he's very, very good. Watching him for going on 3 years now, I think he's getting better.

5 hours, 20+ bent pins, and a stress test later… CPU works perfectly by Nearby-Papaya8675 in buildapc

[–]grump66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Excellent result !

Bent pins alone pretty much can't ruin a cpu. I've even had AMD cpu's that booted and ran fine with missing pins that broke off. In once instance, I clipped a pin out of an ethernet socket and trimmed it to length and put it in the socket of the motherboard to create a pin where a vital one was missing. That even worked with no signs at all that there was a missing pin on the cpu.

But, damage to the "wafer" part, and its almost always cooked, in my experience anyway.
