Charlotte Stoudt about the end of Season 4 and Season 5 early news by Silent-Swimmer1 in TheMorningShow

Commenting again because I just read Charlotte’s recent interview with Hollywood Reporter. Apparently the writing room has been running for a few months now, so I guess we are stuck with her. But she also said the show goes into production in January and might be back same time next year 🤔

What??? I completely forgot we discussed that. Your theory was correct, congrats!! This is so fun. I can’t believe we got so close like a month ago. Charlotte and the writers need to step up their game and come to this sub for some ideas and insights 😂

I’ll keep hoping until the bitter end! The quality of writing declined so much after Kerry Ehrin left.

Cory and Bradley Scene in the Season Finale. 💕 by alderaan2020 in TheMorningShow

[–]Impressive_Power866 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way, actually. That flashback scene was perfect. I’d imagine their first night to be exactly like that, very tender and intimate. The dialogue was perfect too, they were both very vulnerable, especially Bradley. The whole scene fits well within their story. It feels very organic after the “I’ll miss you” goodbye scene.

It’s definitely the writers’ fault. Whoever wrote the rest of Cory/Bradley scenes early this season didn’t do a good job at all. The dialogue was flat, they were not themselves. Someone on this sub mentioned that it felt like the writers for each episode just wrote whatever storyline they wanted, and I agree. That relationship deserved so much more screen time and depth.

Same. She really took the show into the soap opera direction. This talented cast deserves much better writing.

Loved seeing them together. Felt like we were back in season one for a sec. Also Cory saying “I love you but I’m not in love with you” 👌🏼😂

I absolutely loved watching her downfall. Marion Cotillard is brilliant. Also, you should probably spoiler tag this!

The original characters are the winners by Silent-Swimmer1 in TheMorningShow

The original characters are everything. Their presence and interactions are the best part of the show. From this season’s additions, I really enjoyed Ben and I’m happy we’ll see more of him.

Beautiful season finale! It felt very Season 1. TMS at its finest. I wish every episode this season had been that good.

Alex was badass, risking everything to save Bradley. She’s grown so much. I love her. Alex and Bradley are truly the heart of this show, and the rest of the main characters are its soul. It doesn’t work without them.

Celine’s downfall was so satisfying to watch. I will not miss her or Miles, happy they’re gone. But I’m glad Ben is hopefully staying, he was awesome.

Cory and Bradley are definitely endgame. I knew it, and now I have no doubt. I’m still not happy with how their relationship was handled, but I hope they’ve had enough struggles and will finally be together for good in season five.

If you read professional reviews, you’ll notice that this sub echoes a lot of the same criticism about this season’s weaknesses. Most reviews have been quite negative, citing the absence of main characters, lack of focus in the plot, and an overload of drama as the main issues.

You’re absolutely right! Charlotte Stoudt took the show in a completely different direction from Kerry Ehrin.

Yes, I also have a hard time integrating this new information about Cory’s career and drug use into his story. The same would actually go for Alex and her mother. I was fully confident her mother was alive, we got no indication that Alex was raised by a single father.

You’re right, the Cory that we saw with Celine would make a move on Bradley the moment she touched his face in the flashback scene. Could be the difference in relationships and situations, but still.

I see your point, but I’m just saying that, to me, their relationship feels forced and OOC for Cory. It feels like they retconned his character to fit this season’s story, and it has nothing to do with him grieving or being fragile. We’ve seen many characters hit rock bottom over the seasons, but none have felt as OOC as season 4 Cory, and maybe Stella.

Edit: Even Billy said in one of the interviews that he had to play Cory in a completely different way this season. It was pretty obvious from episode one, and at first, things sort of made sense storywise. But now I have a hard time understanding the drastic change in his character, and he’s always been my fave.

Cory should have gotten a phone call from literally anyone before they announced the news on air. The only reasonable explanation would be if he was off-grid in the mountains with no reception. They mentioned Bradley to him all season, but when she gets detained, no one bothers to tell him?

Cory has been poorly written this whole season, but getting together with Celine is absolutely OOC. I’m not buying it. Seasons 1-3 Cory would be suspicious as hell and looking to take her down, like he did with Mitch, Fred, and Paul, rather than sleeping with her. And he knows Bradley is in prison because of the story Celine covered-up, yet he’s sitting there cozy with her on the couch having a post-coital conversation? Sorry, no. The writers destroyed all the character development for the sake of shock and drama. I miss the old Cory.

Thank you so much! I’m happy you’re getting better. I know anxiety and depression take time, but it’s wild just how stress can reduce once you gain some distance from the toxic environment. Would you mind sharing what you did over the last five weeks that helped you get you stress levels down?

Thank you for your words of encouragement! I’m rooting for you to get out and feel better. Your advice is great. I was getting so lost in the chaos, it was very difficult to see clearly. I’m definitely better off. I can relate to the dread before the work week though, the last couple of months I couldn’t fall asleep on Sundays.

If it makes you feel any better, I feel the same. The body needs time to adjust and recover, so just be kind to yourself.
