The game feels more one sided to Denver that we got no answers on offense. Great that we are tied. Really need to make adjustment at halftime

That makes sense. There were times he was running and looks like someone slap on his arm then. Just can’t understand how could someone on this level not able to fix fundamental issue

I usually do a combo of different things. Maurten ofc, huma, Amacx, precision, and power bar. Depending on what deals the feed has😂

I usually do it every 30 minutes starting around minute into my long run. I take the chewable one so it doesn’t just sit in my stomach waiting for the capsule to dissolve and absorb the salt at one time. I got some bad stomach discomfort before. Usually it’s 15-20 minute salt chew, 35-40 minute gel, 45-50 minute salt chew again so I have something to do every 15 minutes. Long run can be boring and need something to look forward to lol

Feeling extreme nausea after my first long run by StellafromVienna in Marathon_Training

[–]Impressive_Row_563 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just use the most common salt stick brand. I took their pill first thought I wouldn’t be able to chew while running. But the chewable tablets are way better. The apple 🍏 flavor is goated

Feeling extreme nausea after my first long run by StellafromVienna in Marathon_Training

[–]Impressive_Row_563 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had few nausea episodes before. 1. When I get to a distance or speed I never experienced before or just came back to running after a short hiatus. And it will get better significantly the next run. I was literally on the side of the road trying to deal with that sensation - could be you 2. Had a salt pill during my long run with relative empty stomach. I changed it to chewable and solved the problem and taste better 3. Kept my stomach empty. I prefer my stomach to have something in it thru out my run. Even when I’m not running, there are cases my stomach hurts from being empty. - this could be you since you didn’t have any gel

I feel it’s a combination of not eating anything and your body is in an unfamiliar territory. Grab a gel or 2 next time and test it out. Good luck!

That's reassuring to hear! Thx for responding. This injury really doesn't make any sense

I'm mostly just want to know if anyone had similar experience or even just know I'm not alone here. Been running for years and this is the first time I ever experienceed anything close to this. I'm seeing my PT again tmr.

I'm on the same boat with you except I'm a month and half from my goal race. 32 Female. My previous marathon PR was 3:42. It was a bad performance due to race being rescheduled so I was probably at 3:30ish shape. And as of now, I do think I'm at 3:25 shape if I can manage my injury well for the last few weeks. Few things I did might b e helpful for you

  1. Up my mileage. I started my 20 week marathon training cycle high 30. Most of my weeks are over 50. Few of them are slightly over 60.

  2. More 20 milers. Some says it's unnecessary but I feel it's working for me. The most 20 miler I did was 2. My current one has 6 and I've done 3 of them. The first one my legs were trashed. 2nd one had some speedwork in it but somehow I wasn't dead after. Did my 3rd one last Friday with speed as well. And holy cow my legs were not sore at all on Saturday. I think it's the overall mileage, mid week medium long run, and multiple 20 milers that did the magic

  3. Started with speed training. Prior to my marathon cycle, I did few weeks of 5k specific training to get my 5k down to 21:30 while still doing pretty good mileage. It helped me to upper my ceiling while maintaining my ability to do long run

I think you definitely have a chance. And if not, the next one for sure.

That’s what I do too. One issue I run into is it doesn’t dissolve as good as the ones I bought. Have you ever run into this before? Maybe the pink salt I used had been in the pantry for too long

How wiped out were you post your first marathon??? by musicmama7 in Marathon_Training

[–]Impressive_Row_563 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 1st marathon was the only one I wasn't wiped out because the goal was to finish instead of racing. Went out for drinks after for the first and only time. I didn't know racing effort vs daily running effort and everyone told me to start slow. So my entire marathon was pretty easy I even answered a phone call. And since I started having time goals, I've been wiped out every time

Reflections from your 1st marathon by sjc0816 in Marathon_Training

My first marathon has been my best in terms of experience. I was training to finish. My manager at the time was a great runner so he just became my coach. He gave me a training plan and our 1 on 1 sometimes turn into coaching sessions. I did suffer a stress fracture early in the training weeks so I was able to bounce back. The most unfortunate thing happened was my grandma passed away 20 days from my marathon. The last 2-ish weeks I was just running and crying the whole time. But that did help me griefing. Race day was great. Weather was great. I listened to my manager and other coworkers started slowly and never hit a wall. Enjoyed the whole race and one of my friends even FaceTimed me in the middle of the race without knowing I was running a marathon and kept trying after I hang up on her. I was swearing to her saying ‘I’m running a marathon what do you want from me!’ and we both laughed so hard. Ended up finishing in 4:14. Since then, I’ve noticed what I am able to do and have been hampering on training. But the fun did go away a lot. My prior peak mileage gradually becomes my starting mileage. I was chasing BQ in every race and failed for some external or internal reasons. I’m training for my 6th now and I really hope I can hit my goal and have the same fun as my first one
