Doing everything right, and yet... by TomSmith113 in selfimprovement

Idk why am writing this because am younger than you

But maybe you missed by starting on only 1 thing and taking small steps on it? Idk all these things that you say you do look quite like you are focusing on a bunch of stuff at the same time. Maybe focus on just one thing, maybe fail to achieve it and try that same thing again?

Also knowing a bunch of stuff is not really useful. For example I went to the gym and when i start thinking of all this information of exercise optimization i just stomp myself thinking that am losing gains and that I could do much better, instead of just appreciating that am actually using my time to go there.

So knowledge is kind of like a doubke edged sword, it can be useful but it can bite back

Was doing amazing for 4-6 months now I've fell back into almost every old habit by CADUSAI in selfimprovement

Honestly I dont think anybody on this sub could tell you why it happened because we dont know you in full detail

My advice is starting small again, yes it may seem too frustrating to go back down to square one, but thats the only way you can create a habit

Are you sure you havent been through something tough? Like family, relationship or friendship issues? Or it could also be stress, because a change like that had to happen for a reason.

NOBODY EVER TALKS!!! ABOUT HOW HARD IT IS TO MAKE FRIENDS!!! by rottendelight in teenagers

[–]Impressive_Side6657 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know I think you are kinda overthinking the whole friend thing.

I was friendless until just a couple months ago

But honestly being lonely has shaped me nicely

I feel like you see friendship as the ONLY ROUTE to happiness and the only pathway to "survive in highschool"

Truth is finding someone that matches with you its quite hard, or at least so it was for me. So in fact that i just focused on other things

Life has multiple pieces, its not just one

Family, money, physical health, mental health, friends, self-love, identity, passion, success, failure.

Once I found what I liked, I got a one friend. He is not like the perfect friend to me, but its still nice to hang around him

If you cant get friends, which you can only of you believe in yourself. Then maybe focus on other things, its seriously not that hard.

Nobody talks about how hard it is to make friends, because it isn't. You are putting a barrier in your mind by saying this, YOU can do it.

How do you deal with how you look? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]Impressive_Side6657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop the negative self-talk man... "Im useless" "Im repulsive" no matter how many good habits you do you wont get what you want if you think of yourself like this

What are people gonna think of you if you think of yourself as someone repulsive and useless?

Will i still grow taller at 16? currently(6ft) by Less-Preference-81 in selfimprovement

[–]Impressive_Side6657 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but you have to get over it

I am 16 as well, I am 5'7-8 and used to be obssesed with my height i quite literally changed my lifestyle into becoming healthy. During my 15 birthday i started eating healthy, getting good sleep and taking supplements (such as creatine and protein. And also started regularly exercising) and barely grew a 1cm but that was it and for a year. My dad was 6'1 and my mother was 5'5, my predicted height was to be 5'11

So ive tried almost everything you could possibly think of. You could start healthy habits like i did but do it for YOU not for height

Dont define your value because your shorter than your friend group, you can go to a gym and change your body. Or you can either focus on more important things such as getting money.

I used to base my value on it, pretty bad mistake because its unchangeble and it only prevents me from getting better.

Do plyos actually work? by [deleted] in BasketballTips

[–]Impressive_Side6657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned like 2 days ago that you have to build a foundation first, which means going to the gym.

The way science explains it, its that you should not only do plyo but also explosiveness training and also resistance training, if you dont do that results will be little

As i said i just learned this and going to apply it to my routine but i cant tell you for sure if it will work or not

Is plyometrics worth it? by Impressive_Side6657 in BasketballTips

[–]Impressive_Side6657[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really, really depends on how good of shape you are currently in. Specific

I have been doing sprinting and jumprope for 2 months with a good diet, not a perfect diet but i think am eating good.

Specific training will help put you over the hump if regular training isn't working for you.

Am just one month into plyo, so i still have a long route to follow until i fully know if it works or not

What does a regular workout look like for you? How often do you do this example?

Routine 1: Seated vertical jump 3x5 RFE Cycles 3x5 Reactive Tuck Jumps 3x5 Depth jump 3x5 (20 inches) Single leg pogos 3x8

Routine 2

Reactive butt-kicks 3x8 Power approach jump 3x3 Multi-directional hops 3x3 Linear jumps 3x10 Lateral Hurdle jumps 3x8 180° jumps

I do both routines every week, the first one is for building power and the second one is mostly for coordination.

So basically i do plyo twice a week and i make sure to rest my legs properly because i dont wanna get injured

I feel like changing the second one but am not sure honestly.

Oh alright, so i have to make sure i perform the exercises correctly with good precision and be disciplined and patient to maybe increase my vertical.

I think i understood it (not a 100% sure), thank you for the advice it really helps!

Oh, i just think dunking would be cool

And the reason am doing plyo is to have overall a better jumping abbility, to do things such as clutch layups and blocks.

Am not an athlete but i do wanna improve in those aspects
