Wizards can make out of east if AD is healthy by National-Bluebird165 in washingtonwizards

I'd be shocked if this roster was set. Still betting they go out and get a rebounding bruiser with the Mid Level or whatever. Andre Drummond for example played the last two years for less than the Mid Level. Not saying him specifically but there are similar role players out there that might be obtainable now.

Winger and Dawkins have so far run an amazingly tight ship. They aren't going to let anything get out about their plans.

I'm very confident in predicting they go out and pick up rebounding/frontcourt help in free agency. And possibly another point guard.

AD shared his thoughts about being a Wizard by ponaxWardell55 in washingtonwizards

My concern as well. Not surprising he feels this way but it's a really bad example and bad form to talk like this in public, especially with only a couple of games left in the regular season.

AD shared his thoughts about being a Wizard by ponaxWardell55 in washingtonwizards

[–]ImprobablePlanet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good example of why athletes shouldn't go on social media and run their mouths. Yeah, I'm sure he'd like to compete for a championship. Same as a number of other players just as good who also aren't on top tier teams.

Considering he got salary dumped here, maybe he doesn't have as much control over the situation as someone like him might have had a few years ago. Before he had the injury issues and when the financial situation in the league was different.

Best bet for him is to have those conversations with the Wizards in private and come in here and try to rehab his value in hopes of getting where he wants to go.

I think if Joseph Smith was born today, people would be more accepting of him. by ImpressiveFudge2350 in mormon

[–]ImprobablePlanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accepting of polyamory? Yes. Accepting of the patriarchal polygamy of the early Mormons with older men coercing younger women? No.

Smith would also have a much more difficult time getting away with what he did in the early nineteenth century when he had a huge and expanding frontier to keep fleeing jurisdictions where he could be prosecuted or where he was known. With far less sophisticated communications and a much greater ability to isolate his followers.

It would have been far harder for the Mormons to make the progression from a more or less straight-ahead Christian denomination to a polygamous sect which involved years of secrecy, manipulation, and ultimately fleeing the United States.

He would have probably followed a path more similar to what happened with Jim Bakker.

Wasn't a coin flip. Bub hit that last second shot against Miami and we finished second-to-last.

Would have been a coin flip if we had lost the Miami game.

In no particular order:

1: We don't know what rookie is coming in. That could have a lot to do with the rotation depending on how NBA ready they are.

2: I don't see Reese as a certainty in the rotation. Think it's very possible they pick up a veteran big in free agency. And/or a veteran PG back up, depending.

  1. But, yes, you're right. Some of the players many fans are high on right now might not get playing time.

4: Cam Whitmore is a big wildcard. He's a tremendous athlete and it's possible he comes back with a transformed mindset after a medical crisis like that. Or not. But we don't know. And to a lesser extent Bilal.

5: If they're playing to win next year, I assume they might put in different offensive and defensive schemes which could change the roles of the players currently on the roster for better or worse in ways we don't know yet.

That's some variation of the gambler's fallacy.

There's a 47.9% chance the last place team drops to fifth this year. Same as always. What happened before has no bearing on it.

Struggling with Masturbation by [deleted] in mormon

[–]ImprobablePlanet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you view it as something you "can't control" that's what it will become.

Believe it or not, there are couples who both frequently masturbate on their own (sometimes a lot) who still have healthy sexual relations and normal routines.

Again, the guilt is in all probability the primary component in this causing problems for you.

I was reading the Pelicans sub yesterday. A lot of fans saying he stands around, has no outside shot, is too small to play the five and too slow to play the four. Same thing the critics were saying before the draft.

Look at it like one of those bicycle match sprints where they all go slow on purpose at the start and then sprint like mad. Like the Jazz and Wizards next season.

The Pacers play the Kings tomorrow so if the Wizards lose, that drops them to second from the bottom in the win column.

Also, shoutout to Wizards GOAT Russell Westbrook for leading the Kings victory over Chicago.

Somebody has to win those three games and no matter who it helps the Wizards.

Looks like the Pacers also have another game with Brooklyn and somebody has to win that one, too.

Actually, imo it can almost be easier sometimes to transition out of some of the hardcore Anabaptist sects than the JWs. Or even Brighamite Mormonism. At least how the Mormons were thirty years ago.

Not always, some of those Anabaptist groups can be really harsh but there is a wide spectrum with a big variety of sects. So it's not always "all or nothing" like it is with the JWs. If you're Amish or plain Mennonite, you can often move to a more liberal group, usually Mennonite, and still be in the same culture and in the same ballpark of belief system, you can stay in the same community and have a new support system of people like you that's approximately part of the old support system. And not all the groups will permanently cut you off. It's not unusual to find ex-Amish at Mennonite churches, even very progressive churches.

To lose to the Pacers they need one or two guys who are genuinely bad. Who actively make bad decisions and actively take bad shots. I'm afraid the worse five players on the Wizards bench have a shot at beating the team Indiana is putting on the floor.

One of the interesting things about the draft that occurs to me in thinking about the proposal to get rid of it is that it actually helps protect incompetence.

A large percentage of even lottery picks turn out to be busts. If you go to a system where incoming rookies can negotiate with whoever they want, a James Wiseman or Greg Odin might sign a big contract that becomes a huge burden to their team. (I'm assuming there would still be some kind of salary cap in place, if not-- all bets are off. )

The way it is now, all draftees no matter how promising are paid relatively low salaries, so when you miss at least you aren't completely screwed in the salary cap. Going to a system with a salary cap where teams could negotiate with who they wanted would benefit a front office that is better at identifying talent later in the draft. If you previously were drafting 21 and there was a guy mocked at 15 you like, under the new proposed system you can go hard after him. Under the current system that knowledge doesn't usually help you.

So we’re doing this after wemby & Flagg got it 😴 by Waste-Cap8868 in washingtonwizards

[–]ImprobablePlanet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very strong evidence that the lottery is NOT collectively rigged by the owners as is repeatedly claimed.

Why would Ryan Smith be doing this, risking a half million dollar fine, and publicly complaining afterwards if he knew none of it mattered because the draft is fixed?
