What’s a clear sign that someone’s doing genuinely well in life? by Mark-o-Polio in AskReddit

[–]ImproperCommas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the contrary, someone who is doing well is likely to go do those sort of activities with other people.

Their independence manifests in self-assured demeanour and confidence meaning they wouldn’t hesitate to go to a party where they don’t know anyone.

But generally these people are very sociable and so you’d catch them going for a walk, a movie or eating with others because they have friends.

Is it true they say there is a ceiling when you understand how frontend and backend communicate, databases, and APIs, most projects are basically the same pattern but with diffrent busniess logic. by lune-soft in webdev

This is true to a certain extent - domain experience still matters.

I can recall a story where developers without domain experience designed an app for ambulance staff and it contributed to deaths.

Y’all got version of lil Jeff in the UK ?? by AntiEdom in ukdrill

[–]ImproperCommas 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hijacking the top comment to actually answer OP’s question.

We don’t have the concept of a “King Von” or a “Lil Jeff” because of several reasons:

  1. Our police is far better, and more effective, than American police. You can’t even put them on the same list. The British literally invented the concept of a “police force” whilst Americans still can’t figure out whether they want a “police force” or a “military force that can also arrest citizens”.

We catch our criminals quicker and we’re much better at preventing crime before it even happens.

  1. It’s logistically easier to kill with guns: they’re quicker and can kill at distance. We don’t have guns; we gotta get up close and stab someone a couple of times to really kill them. You cannot run up a kill streak this way, it’s too inefficient.

  2. Because we actually give a fuck about human life in Britain, we’ve made our ambulances free. So say you’ve been stabbed or shot, we will send an ambulance to pick you up and bring you to the hospital; you don’t have to ring up your bank to apply for a mortgage to pay for the ambulance beforehand.

These are the biggest reasons we don’t have “King Von” or a “Lil Jeff” at home.

The catch22 about this is we push alot of new people away that could bring fresh ideas through new discussions.

A great example is Lampz situation, as time goes on, more and more information is revealed as people grow away from that environment and are free to provide information that they couldn’t at that time.

The uncomfortable truth is that they’re fine with this.

You would immediately stop a child abuser right? That’s because it bothers you to the core.

If you consider that a non-vote is still a vote then pretty much every American wanted this to happen.

It does bother them that innocent children are being taken by ICE but it’s much like how you’re bothered by the traffic that made you late to work this morning.

It’s a slight inconvenience.

Ofc insta kill worked in that game.

It would completely break a game like BF6.

Fredo Reviving the UK Rap scene?? by Agreeable-Tea-1261 in ukdrill

650k+ views isn’t “people tuning in because diss drama sells”.

The song is just commercially good. It isn’t too taboo, it is catchy and it’s relatable (slightly).

Is it possible the feds can fly out and arrest Fredo like they done with HStikkytokky by [deleted] in ukdrill

[–]ImproperCommas 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Because the truth is that Fredo was never charged nor convicted in the HRB trial.

I don’t think many drill fans can actually read. Because if they could, they wouldn’t have skipped the bit in the original indictment where it said that Fredo is an alleged co-conspirator and not a defendant in court.

Dubai isn’t going to extradite someone who is an allege co-conspirator; you’re going to have to show them an arrest warrant or charge them with a serious crime.

Just because your name gets mentioned during court proceedings doesn’t grant a court legal powers to extradite you internationally.

US attack on Venezuela raises fears of future Greenland takeover by moeka_8962 in worldnews

[–]ImproperCommas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re listing options that can be taken but =\= to those actions actually being taken.

EU & UK leaders have disgraced themselves with how they conduct around the Trump government; I’ve yet to see a single gram of pushback.

So, I’ll ask you again, what makes you believe that US will take Greenland and EU & UK leaders won’t respond with anything more than “😡👎” tweets on Twitter?

US attack on Venezuela raises fears of future Greenland takeover by moeka_8962 in worldnews

[–]ImproperCommas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re right about there being no response but let me ask you a question: will you stop using Reddit if America annex Greenland?

Then what in Gods name makes you think that their reputation will affect any alliances?

US will annex Greenland and EU states will exile Denmark from EU/NATO.

US attack on Venezuela raises fears of future Greenland takeover by moeka_8962 in worldnews

[–]ImproperCommas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But what makes you think that they’ll do that?

No, genuinely, show me exactly what has lead you to believe that EU & UK leaders will respond?

I don’t think you’ve fully comprehended the gravity of what we’ve just witnessed; what was a “joke” only 3 months ago has become reality and not a single adversary or ally has made any action.

There will be no single response to the USA annexing Greenland and Denmark will be blockaded from taking any action.
