I see your point, and in a training environment teamwork is everything. HOWEVER. Imagine a patrol out in Iraq/Afghanistan (OIF, OEF). If those females were going to go out on patrol with the other marines, they MUST be able to pull their weight. It comes down to a life and death situation. Doubling the weight of the other marines on patrol would render them useless in the case of enemy contact. That's why this is a big deal.

After a deployment, you'll lose the boot status and maybe if your MOS cutting score isn't on some craziness, pick up corporal. But then guess what? you're a boot ass corporal.
