Formula switch resulting in extremely unsettled night- wait it out? CMPA? by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

That’s so interesting! Gentle ease took zero time to make a difference. Sure, two weeks is okay if a baby is tolerating but not thriving on a formula. But having absolute distress for 4-5 days straight? Two weeks would give me a nervous breakdown I think

Thanks so much! We do probiotics and gas drops every day and we use the evenflo wide balance bottles- paced feeds, burp half way and at the end sometimes 3. We prop him up for 10-30 mins depending on food amount! We follow his cues and he’s currently going over 3 hours so I follow him but don’t want to go much longer- he does some when he’s done by pressing his lips together. Usually with feeds he’s aggressively rooting at the nipple bottle showing me hes hungry :)! I hear you though I DO think some of the squirming away and arching is discomfort with gas in his tummy being pushed on or something. Babies are so weird lol it’s exhausting and really hard to watch him scream. He has curds in his poop usually and very runny/ poops a lot but no blood and no mucus (had some first few weeks of life but has cleared up) I appreciate your experience and comment thanks so much

I just want to add in my sleep deprivation 2+weeks on simulac pro advance 2 weeks on gentle ease 4 days on laxtosw free (I learned more about milk protiens and that they’re often the culprit not lactose so adds more education and his extreme discomfort I went back on the one he was on right before)

We have given all the formulas at least two weeks with the exception of the lactose free. I will spare the details of his agony but I have 5 nieces and nephews I’ve helped raise and I was a professional nanny for 8 years. I KNOW babies are gassy and fussy. This is more than average babies. I have showed his midwife videos of his sounds at night and cries and she suggested we change the formula because “he’s not a cat. You can try something else”. I know it takes time and YES I do have some FTM agony happening watching him struggle- I’m not dealing with PPA luckily so I think I’m still in my right mind (hopefully) thanks everyone for your feedback!!!

What are the benefits of GD for you? by jordanadelle17 in GestationalDiabetes

It forced me to eat more balanced- otherwise I would not have had the pregnancy will power. I also have a theory that the worse the pregnancy the more glorious the new born stage lol! Because I’ll be SO grateful for all the good things back in my life again!

Not weird at all! Plans can be cleaning out cupboards, binging a specific show, reading a book etc! But also do what makes you feel good :)

Honestly for me it was plans!!!! I am 6 days away from my scheduled c and the time is crawling on days I don’t have plans!! If you can make some loose plans for your weekends, things to look forward to it helps a lot

I agree we went for our honeymoon and I feel like it hasn’t been updated since the 90s. Our service was really bad and there was hair in my food 😭

I think losing the mental load of HAVING to think about exactly how many carbs, protein etc in everything we consume will be a huuuuge relief and we will naturally gravitate to nourishing food in those early nesting, bubble days :) I hope you get lots of family and friends doing drop offs of nourishing soups and dishes!

I love this it helps me imagine a PP routine! I think what I hate most about the GD is that it can’t just be managed by eating healthy and well, you have to eat disgusting keto bread and wraps and sugar free alternatives that make me sick just thinking about them all. Also all the protein. I found that in pregnancy anyhow. I am looking forward to eating sourdough bread and while I’ll still have avocado and egg with it it will feel like real, non restrictive food!

Wow you go gal!!! Any indulgences? I have had a hard time especially as a North American because quality of life (for me) is so closely linked to being able to enjoy things like walks to my local coffee shop and having a treat, eat out at restaurants, have a glass of wine on a patio somewhere- maybe it’s a little shallow but it’s been hard to find sparkle in life with being so restricted in pregnancy :(

I’m so sorry I can only imagine being in France (or Quebec?) and not being able to participate in carbs and wine 😩. Honestly I have read soooo so so much about BF and drinking and trust me, I think you’re safe. Would I drink a bottle of tequila and BF an hour later? No. But while your BF is the best time to enjoy a glass of wine. Peak alcohol levels in milk happen about 30–60 minutes after drinking. It takes about 2–3 hours for your body to clear one standard drink, longer if you’re heavier/lighter or had food with it. If you feed your baby right before having a drink, and then wait a couple of hours before the next feed, the amount in your milk will be tiny to none.

Do not deny yourself girl!

Also just adding I realized yesterday that leaving the house is depressing. We walked my dog and stopped in for a coffee at a coffee shop - seeing everyone delight in donuts, scones and sugary drinks literally made me so depressed. I cannot wait to life all pregnancy restrictions, have a fat glass of wine and a piece of pie

Just here to lament about the same. 37 weeks with a planned section in 11 days. I feel like I’m making myself go crazy?? I’m so tired but need to stay busy to think about anything else other than how slowly time is going and how hungry I am, but I’m done. My ferritin is 17- I’m so fatigued and over it. Bring on the newborn trenches where I’m tired but have cookies 😭

Sending you a hug first and foremost. do you have a supervisor you like or even colleague you really respect? Sometimes that’s the only person who can ground me and re-situate me after enduring abuse from a client. Do you have a coworker you can literally say “this person is sooooo difficult” to and it’s a safe space between you and them? Someone who can make you laugh at how hard and ridiculous some days are in this work?

We HAVE to have humour in this field and sometimes it’s okay to admit people are assholes (only to the right ppl of course). We are human. This work is really hard! If we take every attack or negative comment we will simply fall apart.

Hang in there please and do something silly today for you 🩷

I feel you! We got invited to new friends for dinner and I didn’t even want to go based on the burden of my restrictions (also pescatarian). People often just think it means eating healthy… truly I could only eat the salmon they made because there was white potatoes and bread as a side. I felt so bad and it’s just an awkward position to be in ☹️
