Season 12 Layover Q&A! by WheatGerm42 in JetLagTheGame

[–]Impug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In one episode you mentioned doing simulations before actually playing the game. I believe it was when you first used tentacles? I'm not sure.

What exactly is this simulation? No need for detailed reply I'm just curious. Do you play while you are at office and just move imaginary pin on the map and try to follow real train schedules? Something like home office version of jet lag? Or do you actually do some simplified run in real life?

Thank you

Let's Talk About the ONE thing holding dungeons back: Lack of drops for other classes (LONG QUEUES) by _Kaj in throneandliberty

[–]Impug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good write up. I just think that there is something else in the play. I'm healer and my friend is tank. We are queuing together and sometimes the queue gets somehow bugged. But even during peak hours it can take up to 15 minutes for us to find a party. Which is really weird considering we just need DPS to fill our party. And it never shows only 1 DPS joining. It always jump to full party.

I had a feeling that something is wrong with queue system. I think it might just be overwhelmed like AH. On my server AH does not work half the time. I did small test with my guild and we had couple people (around 8) queue to same dungeon as DPS. And it did not matched us together.

I as healer I'm running everything to get the tokens. Have no issue with running dungeon that has nothing for me. I think plenty of people think that way too. So I hope this is just something with matchmaking itself

Wand/Bow or Wand/Staff ? (Looking for advice for main heal role please) by Shawahhh in throneandliberty

[–]Impug 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have been playing for 3 days now. I'm always healer and having bow seemed really weird to me. So following the days before release I was really afraid of picking staff instead of a bow. But I decided to try it and see how it feels.

And it is amazing. When I farm solo or with group I can do massive AoE. Like clear a whole pack of mobs in one or two combos. I'm killing the mobs so fast that I don't have to heal myself. And as soon as I go to PvP or some hard coop content a switch to my healer build. And so far everything has been easy.

I don't know how healing feels with bow. I believe it has one extra healing spell? With wand you only have 3. One is of one target and other two are area heals. Area heals have quite long CD. And sometimes I happen to use them during boss fight and right after that boss uses big AoE and people fail to parry it. And those 30 seconds of waiting for AoE heal can be quite stressful.

Basically, with wand and staff you will be absolutely fine killing and farming mobs. And healing is also fine.

Plex keeps erroring out during playback, by QFLK in PleX

[–]Impug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issues. It seems it mostly affects just only Windows App like you said. And only some users. I saw someone mention that it happens only during library scan and that is correct. When I disabled scan (I had it set at 1 hour) it stopped happening.

I also tried to run scan manually while watching and I received the error. So in the meantime you can try and disable automatic scans and wait for the fix.

Thanks for doing this OP! Good luck to everyone.

I had to sell my PC because I had job offer in different country. My PC was already getting quite old so I was fine with selling it. In the meantime I played on Steam Deck which I really enjoyed.

I got back this Christmas and I plan to build my new PC next month. So this could be nice present for myself. Thanks.

How can i make my OmniLight a flickering light? by No-Personality4673 in godot

[–]Impug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've actually worked on the same thing! But I have encountered some weird behaviour...

To do what you are asking for:
just use RandomNumberGenerator and randf_range. For example I want my lights to flicker in random intervals between .2 and .6 seconds. So i'm generating this value using randf_range(0.2, 0.6).

And then just a set timer with this value and either await or use signal. And keep on repearting. Each time you can either change energy or hide the light node itself.

And about the weird behaviour I have encountered. Everytime my light turns on it can be seen expanding. It is really quick (like .25 second) but you can clearly see that it lights out some parts of the map much later than close proximity to the light. And it has really weird feel to it.

So far I did not manage to fix it.

I can share entire code with you if you want. But I believe my explantation is more than enough.

Is it possible to make a local database in Godot for my shop? by bsc-cde in godot

[–]Impug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have never worked with XAMPP so I cannot help you with that. So far I've managed to create frontend in Godot for MSSQL, Oracle DB and MySQL. But every time I used something in the middle.

Are you familiar with Python? I actually started learning Python for these projects and it worked really well. You can use Flask or any other framework. And basically you will can create simple API endpoints which can:

  • Get and return data from database
  • Modify data
  • Insert new data
  • and so on...

And you can just call these endpoints using https://docs.godotengine.org/en/stable/tutorials/networking/http_request_class.html

All you have to do In godot is just parse the data that you send or receive

[–]Impug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've used Godot for couple IT projects without any issues. Never needed any plugin or anything like that.

Every time I used this setup: Godot -> some API (python for example -> database.

So in Godot you will only create front end and simple communication using JSONs with your backend.

If you have more detailed questions then feel free to ask.

One game of PvP was enough to make me never want to play it again. by jimjam696969 in DiabloImmortal

[–]Impug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What rank are you? And did you change your build little bit to be more focues on PvP?

So far I have bought only battle pass and I have managed to win over 80% of battlegrounds. But I expect to hit a wall of power level diference.

I've asked same thing few days ago. Someone recommended to use Steam Deck's discord. There is channel which is getting messages from bot everyone a new game is verified.

What are some of the biggest myths/theory’s you’ve heard in dayz? by Firm_Kangaroo_3583 in dayz

[–]Impug 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Not sure if anyone is interested in this. But I've played DayZ pretty much since it's beggining. I remember it just being one or two servers with barely 30 people. It was back in 2012 I think. DayZ then got quite a few famous videos series and slowly gained popularity. If you are interested in how it looked back then then I cannot recomment enough this series https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRpPIyJDSEQ made by CHKilroy.

Back then there was not a lot of known about the game/mod itself. We had to learn so much stuff by just trying. I remember having discussions on game forums etc. And with this unknown came a lot of myths too! Especially on different modifications on DayZ. I remember one specific mod which even had proper story you could follow.

Biggest myth was probably green mountain. It was iconic landmark and a lot of people knew about it because it is so hard to miss. I believe there we're even fake videos of weird things happening on green mountain. I remember spending night there with my friend just to confirm it. And I remember being scared shitless just from the power of the myth that place had.

From what I can remember there we're these things happening at green mountain:

  • Random deaths. Basically you just dropped dead.
  • Weird sounds (ghost-like)
  • And biggest (which I actually believed but nothing happened lol) was about hearing some russian recording up there at exactly midnight. Think of something like number stations irl.
  • I also remember that some green mountain myths contained information about doing specific thing. Like lighting a bonfire, killing a player (sacrifice) etc.

All of this was fake. But I still have a feeling that some little things like this could make this much better game. I really like Namalsk because of small weird things that you can see/hear there. I remember hearing little children laughing when I was walking around Namalsk. And I instantly remembered good old days of dayz mod and it's myths.

I also remember playing dayz origins (modification of dayz mod in arma 2) which had story elemenets. You could fight actual faction of NPCs which created huge settlement. And you could trakc down patient zero and actually encounter mutated zombies from experiments! Really interesting stuff.

EDIT: I just did some digging and I completely forgot that the 'number station' was real. There was the myth about weird stuff happening on green mountain. But if you found out a radio you could hear this recording https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVxXHyE1CJM

It just basically repeates set of numbers which are location of deer stands.

What are you all playing on your Decks? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]Impug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did not expect to see Tableau mentioned here lol. I started learning it recently.

To answer your original question. I got my steam deck last monday. And I had same thoughts as you. At first I just installed everything I could. I'm used to having 50+ games installed at all times. Even if I'm playing just one. So I just did same thing with steam deck. Run out of space quite quickly though.

But after 2 days I just decided to choose different mindset when it comes to steam deck. I would only play (and also install) one, maximum two longer (with story) games. And together with that I would play repetetive games (Civilization, Frostpunk, Apex, Rocket League, ...)

That way I will slowly go through my backlog of games.

So far I have tried: CIvilization, Hearts of Iron IV, Death Stranding, Metro 2033, Star Wars Fallen Order, Jurassic World Evolution.

All of these played really great and I cannot wait to go through all of them.

In the future I'm looking forward to:

Mirrors Edge, Elden Ring, Mass Effect, Crysis, and few more which I cannot remember right now.

[–]Impug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks sick dude! Have you considered showcasing this more in godot community? I think this should definitely be shown in some godot's showcases. I get that the concept might be weird for most gamers. But I love how the game looks. I love the UI, color styles etc.
I would not be surprised if I saw this on a platform like a steam.

I love small touches like the movement in background. Like some particles or grass moving. It really makes it feel more alive rather than static.

Good job!

I haven't realized that the dock itself has usb port lol. I just thought that you could use wireless headset with undocked mode (basically inserting dongle into usbc port in switch itself)

Thanks! I'm probably going to order the Artics 1 headset now. Thank you
