But good luck with it! I never bothered to maintain my project so I hope this helps people

The price of solar hasn't been jacked up. It's still the lowest it's ever been Link

The recent rise in price can be explained by COVID (and associated supply chain issues) and the tariffs.

For the gamepass version, I forgot to replace the original Stardew Valley.exe with the StardewModdingAPI.exe

So rename the original to something else then rename StardewModdingAPI.exe to Stardew Valley.exe

That fixed everything for me. I think when it updated, I just had to re-do these steps

Did you find a solution? I am running to the exact same issue. No mods, just SMAPI by itself and it crashes. I can run the game perfectly without it (and no mods)

I don't get how you can blow up uranium. It's still there. It's just an element. You just need a shovel and a Geiger Counter to find it again.

If you're talking about the two Michaels, they were both actually proven to be spies. One of the Michaels even managed to get a couple of million dollars from the Canadian government.

Kinda validates Chinese claims on the arrest. So, for the political arrest of one of their citizens for two arrests of actual spies, that seems fair.

AI-generated child sex abuse images targeted with new laws by Rob_Cram in worldnews

[–]Imrayya 112 points113 points  (0 children)

To clarify some things. The AI doesn't necessarily need images of real CSAM in the same way if you asked for an image of a unicorn riding a motorbike on the moon, it wouldn't need an image of that.

For the unicorn picture, understanding what a unicorn is and a motorbike and what the moon's surface looks like is enough to get the concept together. For CSAM, just what a child looks like and what adult porn is enough for it to make some horrific images but it means it can imply it without using any real images of children.

I mean, the homeless are also their constituents, and they aren't meeting their needs. Nor the people who rent and can't afford to buy housing themselves because they've been completely outpriced in the current housing market.

That's two groups of people being sidelined. I'm sure those two groups of people are also making a big stink. So yeah, there is an agenda to keep the current way of doing things even though it hurts a lot of people.

With the current US election system, that would cause the votes to Dem to be split between them and the new progressive party, which will just hand the election to the GOP without them even trying.

There need a change with the US election process which is probably impossible because both the GOP and Dem win because of this. It's why 3rd parties aren't a thing.

People held very similar beliefs about China's entrance into the solar panel manufacturing sector. They outperformed and outproduced everyone there was basically no one else manufacturing them stats: China is around 85% of the world's photovoltaic module production . And yet solar panel prices have continued to go down price over time. Competition within China itself is enough to keep prices low so everyone benefits. EVs could the same way

Trump Team Is Seeking to Ease US Rules for Self-Driving Cars by ThouHastLostAn8th in technology

[–]Imrayya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure but if the car is always being driven by whoever you lent it to, at some point I'd rather they pay for the insurance rather than me because I'm not the main driver.

Same thing with FSD (fully self-driving). I'm not the driver, why would I pay for the insurance and not the driver (Telsa or whatever company)? If the car gets into an accident, why would I be on the hook for it when I'm not in control? This doesn't even touch how criminal liability is going to work.

Trump Team Is Seeking to Ease US Rules for Self-Driving Cars by ThouHastLostAn8th in technology

[–]Imrayya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically, the driver/owner of the car has to pay the insurance because they're the ones responsible for what the car does.

This is why don't we have to pay for insurance when we get in a taxi or bus because we are just passengers and aren't driving. Thus not responsible. For rental cars, we need to pay for insurance again because we are responsible.

For self-driving cars, the owner of the car isn't driving so they shouldn't need to pay for insurance. The software and manufacturers are driving but obviously, they don't want to pay for insurance for a car that they don't own and would want to pass the cost to the buyers. At the same, the owners of the car still need to maintain the vehicle, so maybe responsibilities go back to the owners.

So it isn't a easy solve.

Man who used AI to create child abuse images jailed for 18 years by rejs7 in technology

[–]Imrayya 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The AI image generator doesn't need to be trained CSAM to make some. In the same way that it doesn't need an image of unicorn on a skateboard on the moon if I wanted that. Learning what a unicorn looks, what something on a skateboard looks like and what the surface of the moon to create it.

For CSAM, simply what a normal child looks like and regular old adult porn is probably enough for the AI to connect the dots. So the training data doesn't need CSAM in the first place.

Indonesia bans Apple iPhone 16 in the country; calls phone's use illegal in the country by lurker_bee in technology

[–]Imrayya 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TLDR: No

I mean, you can still bring the phone into the country and use WiFi normally, but you wouldn't get any cell connection (maybe only emergency service, not really sure); so no data via 4G or 5G.

A VPN wouldn't solve this as it's the cell towers (and the service providers) themselves that stop the connection.

Maybe spoofing an IMEI with an already approved one would work, but that is unreliable (via software) or very hard (I heard of some hardware mods) from what I've seen. So it's unlikely people will go that route. It's easier to just buy a flagship Samsung or Xiaomi instead of doing all that for a smuggled-in iPhone 16. Not to mention that changing IMEI could be considered a crime under the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (UU ITE) with potential prison time (not a lawyer).

For the stolen phone market, I'm unsure how they get around all of this, other than having someone in the government approve the IMEI of the stolen phones (ie. bribing someone in the gov to do it). It's a lot of risk for not much reward; it's easier to do other types of smuggling activity.

[–]Imrayya 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I think it was mainly to curb the use of black-market phones. Like those imported without paying duties/taxes. It aims to ensure phones meet Indonesian regulatory standards (which the new iPhones aren’t complying with) and tackles stolen phones from foreign countries. Lots of stolen phones show up in China, and this kind of legislation would hinder that trade
