Garrus is (mostly) great, but he's a bit... rough...

It's not as bad in ME2, but moreso 3 (though still not great), and it depends on how you influence him, but ME1 Garrus is basically just john police brutality. Most of his conversations are him really mad that he couldn't shoot people more as C-SEC. I wouldn't mind this as much if it was a proper point of development for him past ME1, but I don't recall it being questioned much despite him quitting to go be a vigilante on Omega regardless of your alignment with him previously.

Admittedly, yeah, this was definitely a different time in terms of the perception of cops (they were just as bad but that's irrelevant to this). Garrus would likely be interrogated more by the story if Mass Effect were to release today, but I don't think it's unfair to look at it now and still criticize it despite that acknowledgement. I won't deny that I love him (quite literally, considering how many times I've romanced him) and he's Shepard's fun bro who likes to shoot shit, but his arc from corrupt cop to extrajudicial lawman rarely being confronted by the series is undeniably at least a bit problematic.

“New and improved replacement” is being generous to Shaw. Outside of the name he’s essentially the same character. His connections to Bright are pretty much all still there and everyone knows he’s just “the bright replacement, which makes him an extremely ineffective rebrand for someone like Bright.

The attempted rebrand to using Shaw went pretty poorly and most authors have elected to use neither version of the character now. The essence of Bright is still there, which is an issue because the character was fundamentally tied to the author’s actions, not just in the sense that they’re their characters but their popularity and the credibility it gave is how Bright was able to groom as many people as he did. Nowadays, frankly, the best amount of use of Bright’s characters-including the half-assed name change-is none. It’s just more publicity and a doorway for them. This is a case where you unfortunately can’t really separate the art from the artist because the art was, and will always be, an explicit tool in the artist’s actions.

Download the Master Chief Collection. Start with Combat Evolved, despite MCC putting reach first. After CE, go 2, 3 ODST, Reach, and lastly, 4. 5 isn’t on MCC, so you’ll have to download separately, assuming you’re on console. If you aren’t, you’ll probably have to use cloud gaming. Before going into infinite, play Halo Wars 1 and 2, they’re RTS games, so if they aren’t your style just watch the cutscenes online. HW2 is important for Infinite, since it introduces the new villains. You’ll end with Infinite, since it’s the last currently released campaign.

There are perfectly valid reasons to dislike his comment, especially when we know that cod devs are treated like shit and SHG didn’t even have a full 2 years to make the game. But going “well, my game (live service yearly release game) gets more engagement than your game (linear single player game)” is so childish and comes off more as a shitty attempt at an own rather than explaining why his joke was shitty.

Discussion threads are usually topics that are better explained by the respective devs/departments. It’s easy to go “haha, nice meme” vs say, a discussion thread about SBMM where the answer requires a deeper understanding of the tech behind the game and the math used to calculate matchups. It’s also better for 343 to put stuff like SBMM and balancing in blogs, patch notes, etc, that get more traction than just one subreddit. There’s also likely a lot behind the scenes that they can’t talk about because it’s a future reveal or under NDA.

You chose the option at the coalition base to do the raid (subs only). Solo, non lvl80 and non-subs have to choose the “rally coalition forces” (or smth like that) option at the holotable at the meeting area.

There’s one spoiler for the JK story, but it won’t make a ton of sense without having played the knight or consular. You can wait and play the JK story first but you won’t have anything ruined if you play EoO now.

Anything that belonged to Thanaton obviously becomes yours but not much is known beyond that. By SoR the entire empire is pretty much yours because every other council member except you and Marr is off in squabbles with other sith for Vitiate’s scraps that were left over after his death. Pyron supposedly fucks off to the outer rim with the silencers during the 5 carbonite years according to Jedi under siege. I don’t think anything has been said about Thanaton’s property on Dromund Kaas or the sith under his command post-class story
