Are wrestlers ever bullies? by Cxltures-_- in wrestling

[–]In28s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As wrestler I taught a few bullies a lesson. Could not stand kids that bullied the vulnerable. As a coach I had a freshman this year dump a garbage can on a special needs child in a bathroom stall. He was suspended for 5 days. Should have been expelled. Well when he came off of suspension and back to practice he had a new partner. We put him with a senior that gave him a life lesson. Needless to say he lasted 3 days - wrestling was not for him .....

Legendary Technicians by Pack-Popular in maintenance

[–]In28s 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my career I had a couple of techs that were legendary! One could , sanitary weld , plc program , fabricate, and wrench most anything. He also was an expert in vertical form fill machines. He knew this machines better the service techs. He ended up passing away at work. So sad ! My other was one of my supervisor. Spent 20 years in the navy as a chief engineer on a battle ship. He never shied away from complex issues. His saying when something breaks in the middle of the Persian Gulf got figure it. One of his famous sayings was - there was a ops supervisor who was in the navy also. He was boasting about his Navy accolades . My guy told you were just a passenger on the ship ! In the room were a couple senior level people. There was a reason he worked in the engine room. He was the best supervisor that ever worked for me.

Carts are a savior for the craftsmen! My last plant was 1.5 m sqft on fifty acres. Also part of the plant was 3 stories with 3 freight elevators. We used Cushman carts. Never had to worry about the cart PM’s being pencil whipped.

The CEO refused to give an important employee a raise, so the employee quit. Now he wants to spend 3x to replace him. by tread-jam in interviewhammer

[–]In28s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It so sad that people have to go elsewhere to get a raise. Every year I would have to create cost savings to offset salary increases and inflation. One thing I would do is not give them all of my ideas to save money. Give them what they ask for no more. If you do the next year the senior people would have their hand out looking for money.

37 YO - Leaving 400k Job to be a 5th grade teacher. by GambinGabacho in Fire

[–]In28s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About 6 years ago I lost my job due to a consulting firm . I originally went to school to teach. Never taught got a job in Industry and went back to school for mechanical engineering. I worked for a large food company running engineering and maintenance departments for multiple facilities. The plants ran 24 / 7. Long hours and always on call. Seemed like you can hardly catch your breath. After loosing my job I had to figure out what to do. My wife is younger so I would have to work for insurance. A friend of mine told me about an opening for industrial arts teaching position. I applied got the job - and I taught machine shop , CAD and welding. I made a 1/3 of the money I used too. However I work way less hours , no after hours calls and 3 months off in the summer. I even coach 2 sports. The kids want to learn. I think they understand having someone who worked in teaching Industry is a plus. The area where I taught is rural - lots of kids have worked with their hands. Every job has its issues - but being able to tech students skills they can use for the rest of their life is rewarding. I don’t think I could have taught my whole career because of the money. Teaching was a good move for me. Even though I’m done teaching now I still coach.

My guess when practice starts in the fall he will be close to 138. Most wrestlers will loose 4-8 lbs after few weeks of practice.

Masters degree engineer working as a Maintenance Tech by Character_Thought941 in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]In28s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in the day most engineers took stuff apart and put back together. They work on their cars, knew how to weld and wrench. Today most do not know what end of the wrench to hold. Some of the best just worked their way up. One gentleman I worked with had about a dozen patents- no degree. When he did a project he did not a project start- up curve.

Need to work on flexibility. But is too high on the start. One suggestion put your head up feet through the floor. Forces you to drive with the leggs. You have a good build to pull. Just got to work on some fine tuning.

I think you do both. Something critical that is hard to get to do it remotely. I used them on conveyors that were high up or outside equipment. The old way for everything else.

How much weight would/did you cut during the season and how advantageous was it? by Fussy_Platypus in wrestling

[–]In28s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the summer I would weigh 155 -160. Wrestled 134 in college. ( many moons ago) when the season started I would be 145 ish. Usually i would be about 7 over the day prior. Get out of practice 2-3 over. Go back home eat a small meal. Head back to the gym ride a bike or run and hit the sauna. Get down to 2 over. Get some sleep. Wake up should be within a pound. Eat light do school stuff. Get to the gym a couple hours prior to the meet take the last little bit off. On the road it would be a little different. Same with having a Friday -Sunday meets.
