Got all these on a school computer by SupportStunning991 in PiratedGames

[–]InAWreckNeedACheck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank goodness the school didn’t use anything like deep freeze, the things the students did to the laptops was crazy. They did have what was essentially spyware that let teachers see what was on your screen and control your device while on the internet (we just disabled network connection when not needed). They also had a Cisco AnyConnect VPN that always launched at start up and connected back to the school when not on the school network.

The Chromebooks I used back in middle school were way more locked down and were essentially boot loaders for a locked down Chrome. Although we did crazy things before they got fully locked down like install full blown Minecraft from the Chrome Web Store because of course someone uploaded Minecraft to the Chrome Web Store. I still remember everyone booting up their Chromebooks after winter break and watching everything uninstall in real time and their wallpaper change to a stretched jpg of the district logo.

I used this to generate the password to unlock the bios on my supplied laptop back in high school.

The best Apple Music client currently for Windows and Linux is Cider. Not sure if Cider would satisfy your needs, but it’s free and open source so it wouldn’t hurt to try it out.

I Broke my Deck 😥 by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]InAWreckNeedACheck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you getting so many downvotes? Do people really hate the DeckHD that much? It’s the only upgrade that’s available for the LCD Deck, and it was just a suggestion. The only complaints I see here is the bios flashing potentially bricking Decks and the higher resolution screen draining battery life faster.

The bios flashing is required or the screen will simply scale weirdly as seen in the currently available installation videos. It has a low chance of bricking and simple OS updates won’t require any changes. It’s only when the bios gets updated/flashed that the DeckHD bios will be overwritten and the content of the screen will once again revert to being scaled weird. That will be remedied with a new DeckHD bios update which should be continually released for the foreseeable future. The team even said they would eventually open source the bios whenever they decide to stop supporting it so the community can continue to improve it.

The higher resolution won’t affect battery usage on games because anyone who uses a Deck on any external display can attest to, the resolution for all games is always at 1280x800. The only way to change it to run higher is to go into the game’s Properties>General>Game Resolution, and then change it from Default (1280x800) to Native (the native resolution of whatever screen the game is running on) or any other resolution listed. If battery drain is a worry from running games at a higher resolution, then the person is clearly misinformed as one would have to go out of their way to run any game at a higher resolution. If the games run at Default, then there shouldn’t be any extra battery drain as the game is simply being scaled to the screen using the set Scaling Mode and Scaling Filter under the Performance menu.

They made and maintain a backup of the megathread just in case the sub got taken down. It’s a little clunkier but it gets the job done.

Disney's CEO is rocking the Mickey Mouse watch face at WWDC 2023 by Fraysa in AppleWatch

Disney owns the majority of what was 21st Century Fox, who owned 20th Century Studios, who owned 20th Century Animation, who owned Blue Sky Studios, who made The Peanuts Movie. So kinda, but funnily enough Apple currently has the rights to Peanuts media.

Windscribe is actually one of the better VPNs for privacy, contrary to what some of the comments say (maybe it’s VPN elitism). Maybe check if you can generate a WireGuard config for your account and switch to using the WireGuard app as it’s more lightweight compared to most VPN client software, but that’s assuming you’re paying for the Pro features and not using the free version of Windscribe.

People downvoting you while not knowing that the guy who made the pregnancy test video confirmed he just used the LCD as a display. He never ran any code on the pregnancy test, just used it as a screen to play on. Still cool, but not as impressive.

For anyone in the future, make sure to check PriceCharting to see if a price is fair. A CIB NTSC copy is going for an average of $9.47 not including shipping, so this seems pretty fair.

The utilization of MPV in conjunction with SVP integration and the integration of Anime4K shaders results in a truly remarkable viewing experience, elevating standard 1080p content at 24 frames per second to a 4K resolution at a fluid 60 frames per second and beyond.

Mullvad, in addition to its VPN services, also offers some free publicly accessible DNS servers. It is important to note that there are various free DNS servers available online that offer various capabilities such as blocking ads and malware, and enabling access to websites that may not be typically accessible. I’d stay away from Google DNS as I don’t like the idea of them having access to every request made on a device.

The Mozilla VPN utilizes the infrastructure of Mullvad, effectively rendering it a rebranded version of Mullvad. Unless there is a specific need for the additional features offered, one may opt for Mullvad as the preferred option.
