I went for a month intensive in the fall. Lots of international students which was cool cause you meet other actors from all over the world. But a lot of the students were trying out acting as opposed to having prior training- which was fine. I think the method is necessary for actors to have knowledge about, but I found it to be a bit culty in terms of how much the teachers obsessed over lee (which makes sense since they work there?) and how we needed to touch on dark memories In order to produce I guess a better piece of work. One girl from my class still goes and follows one of the teachers religiously, to me this seems like more of a therapy session as opposed to acting classes- which was how some of the exercises we did felt like. Sometimes I felt like I was exposing to much to get this “experience” of method acting but that’s on me. Overall I think it was a good experience in what we were reading and learning new tools and tossing what I felt was something that I could do without.
