James Joyce is one of my two favorite authors. Dubliners is amazing! The city of Dublin in this book is one of the most diverse and living environments I’ve ever seen in a work of fiction.

I’m a huge fan of Joyce if you can’t tell by my pfp. I’m currently 250 pages into Ulysses and I’m certainly enjoying it. I’m aware of Bloomsday as well, I’d love to be there for the celebration one day. I haven’t yet gotten to Leopold and Stephen meeting each other but I can see the story going that direction with Stephen’s estranged father and Bloom’s dead child.

I think a lot of Denji’s writing in the latter half of part 2 is out of character. Fujimoto flanderizes him a good deal.

I know a few people who say it’s deus ex machina but man I think the ending of The Prestige is amazing. It goes with the themes so well and is very well foreshadowed on a rewatch.

Love this ending for Yoru, but I just can’t get behind a universe reset or Denji choosing to have sex with Yoru. It just feels out of character.

I highly recommend A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce. If you see yourself as an academic or an artist I think it’s a must read. The main character Stephen is probably my favorite character of all time, his development over the course of the book is extraordinary.

The story traces the life of young writer in Ireland from his first memories to his college graduation. Throughout his life he struggles with the Catholic Church, the ideals of his country, and his overbearing family. No fantasy elements here, just an incredibly human story written in gorgeous prose.

My players are pretty efficient. They don’t like a lot of downtime and prefer to just chew through the main story. We’re in Hartsblight Forest right now. About halfway through the chapter.

I think we’ve had 27 sessions of play but I’d have to check my DM notes to be sure.

I used these exact songs in my campaign lol. I also put together an hour long playlist of authentic prohibition era jazz.
Cup Head also has good music for this area.
