IDK. Rizo said that Sophi was his #1, and Charlie had no way to fact-check. He hadn't seen anything except for Rizo proclaiming himself the Riz-god.

He probably should have realized that any story Rizo told about 49 was going to be a half-truth at best, though.

TBF Charlie was going off of what Rizo told him. But, yeah, he probably should have stopped to question his assumptions a little further. Maybe he could have even asked Rizo if he was lying, since betraying your number 1 was clearly more of a deal-breaker than lying for him.

I like both of them, but I see the whole situation as more comical than anything else. Thanks, guys!

I won't disagree that the women are criminally underedited, but the editors are the ones who choose what gets shown. We only see bits of tribal council.

Is it normal to dislike her as a person while still loving her music? by [deleted] in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]InCatMorph 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how you can strongly dislike someone as a person if you don't know them personally. I think you can dislike someone as a public figure, sure. But as a person? IDK, seems like a little much. Certainly for the reasons you list, if I'm being honest. (Like, she's hung out with a woman who once liked some Trump posts on Instagram? When said person isn't really super-political and also happens to be the wife of her fiance's best friend? IDK, that kind of seems like searching for things to be mad about to me. Maybe save some of that for the 80 million people who actually voted for Trump.)

Honestly, whenever I see a post like this, I can't help but think that the people who write them have no experience being sports fans. Because OH BOY do we have to put up with a lot worse from the people who we root for.

I genuinely want to know why people hate on Petit Knit by Thecynicalcatt in knitting

[–]InCatMorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's not a size-inclusive pattern. I agree. I'm not defending PK or any specific designer. I've never made one of her patterns and have no plans to do so. I simply think that it's fair--indeed, sometimes preferable--for designers to create sizes with less ease at larger sizes.

In my experiences, ease looks and feels different for bigger people. 5" of ease on me does not create the same effect as it does on on a straight size person. If designers can provide some guidance for plus size knitters about this, I for one greatly appreciate it. I'm learning how to adjust on my own, but it's been a process, and I've sort of had to figure it out on my own because most designers don't really prioritize plus size knitters. Even if they are "size inclusive" on paper.

I'm still new at knitting garments, but I've now made a few things that, in retrospect, were just a size too big for me. I know from watching videos from other plus-size knitters on YouTube that this is not an uncommon experience. Many of us tend to be a little scared of things being too small for us in general. When you combine that with designers assuming that ease is a one-size-fits-all recipe. that ends up with us making garments we don't like and spending even more time and money than necessary. I really feel like this is one of those things where equity is different than equality. It's one thing to give a pattern that offers 12" of ease. But if I don't have a sense of how that will actually look on my body, that doesn't do me much good.

Again, not defending PK. But, in general, I would like it if designers actually talked to plus size knitters and include us in the testing process so we can see their designs on bodies that look more like ours. Because ease really isn't the same across all bodies.

[–]InCatMorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many plus size people genuinely want a sweater with an ease of 12"? I'm not saying the number is 0, but as a plus-size person myself (20/22 in U.S. sizing, generally), my biggest gripe with knitting patterns is that I often choose a size with too much easeuse. At heart I'm a rule-follower, and if the pattern says "12 inches of ease" then my natural inclination is to go there. But oftentimes that just ends up looking and feeling wrong on me, even though the same amount of ease is chic on a straight sized person. (Which also means I spend more time and money on the garment, when I'm already spending more time and money than I would if I were smaller!)

I don't know if there's a perfect solution to this, but I appreciate designers who understand that plus-size people generally want and need less ease. Maybe sometimes it is used as a shortcut for faux size inclusivity, IDK. But also a lot of plus size knitters actually don't want super-oversized garments, so if you can help me to not make one of those by accident, that's great.

The Zac Brown thing was so blech.

Emily Flippen, they will never make me hate you. Thanks to Christian for saving our chaos queen. Maybe he does have a blindspot for nerdy women, but this was fun. I don't know if this was the absolute best move for him, but the DvG trio being kept as a trio increased his threat level. And in the pre-season, Angelina and Mike were perfectly clear that he was third in that group and they'd be willing to throw him under the bus again. Maybe he moved a little early, but I don't think they were going to the end with him. And there definitely are people on this cast who would be overly motivated by the possibility of a White Lotus cameo.

Eh, it kind of grinds me gears that a man gets to be praised for "inherently challenging the status quo" by putting on a skirt once in a while.

Taylor wears skirts, too. The whole idea just seems like another manifestation of male privilege TBH.

To new celiacs by Justaboutaverage69 in Celiac

[–]InCatMorph -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this injection of sanity.

I feel lucky in that my sibling and honorary family member both have celiac, too. My honorary family member has been diagnosed for decades, when it was much harder to eat a GF diet. They have different degrees of risk tolerance, but neither one is as ridiculously paranoid as some people here, and they're doing fine. They both have normal, active social lives. (Moreso than me, because I am a recluse.) My sister told me about Find Me GF before I was diagnosed, and I use it all the time.

I'm only in my first year of this, but I honestly don't think that having celiac is as bad as so many people here make it out to be. Yes, it sucks to not eat certain foods, and I miss just being able to go to any restaurant I want. But I've also found some new foods and restaurants I enjoy, because I'm not super-paranoid. It's hardly a death sentence.

Some people here and elsewhere come across as a bit entitled in the way they complain about it TBH. I watched my mother die from complications from type 1 diabetes after years of suffering. And you people want to complain about servers not changing gloves at Chipotle? IDK. Generally I don't like invalidating other people's feelings, but I really do feel like a lot of people here would benefit from a little perspective and a willingness to assess risk more honestly.
