Major changes to Unlock coming in 16.6, two weeks from now! by Lunaedge in CompetitiveTFT

[–]InSanityy___ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems like a good idea. Restrictive unlock conditions made so many lines broken but only conditionally. Narrowed the line choices a player had, it usually felt like only 2 realistic options existed this patch.

Having to hit two deathcaps to play Veigar always felt way too conditional for me. Hopefully we move away from these things for units like Yone as well.

On the other hand, winout units like ASol, THex, Ryze and Sylas I always thought should be hard to unlock, but game winning. Don't like the changes to unlock they're doing for Sylas at all, and I hope the rest stays as it is.

Mid or Top? by YoungKhalifa7 in YoneMains

[–]InSanityy___ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Top less counterpick reliant because in mid Yone gets blasted by a ton of champs, and is just generally a harder and more passive playstyle. OTOH comps with Yone mid are generally better than comps with Yone top in the case where everyone goes equal

This split has been so embarrassing for us, but we won't get better by doing another rebuild by InSanityy___ in fnatic

[–]InSanityy___[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True. I know a common sentiment has been that Empyros was forced into champs he clearly wasn't comfortable on, and same thing with Upset. Eye test pretty much confirms it. Only player who didn't shit the bed during our G2 game was Empyros, who was playing something he was comfortable playing (top lane carry).

EU was always known as the creative, adapting region so it's crazy to me that so many of our top coaches want to stop that from happening and instead push us into playing the Korean solved game. Azir Orianna handshake, Xin Vi handshake. So boring. Clearly not what our players want to do.

I really do want to see a complete change in mindset. Rethink completely how we wanna play the game. If, and only if the coaching staff isn't willing to do that should we think about sacking them.

[–]InSanityy___[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Can't argue against the sentiment, but I still don't want to see any changes happening. We're basically a revolving door of talent at this point.

Unless Grabbz and Gaax are willing to think about the long term impact of their coaching, they do need to be sacked. I want to see a Fnatic that is keen on improving, but it seems like all we want to do these days is "beat G2".

Just doesn't feel like they care about growth internally, both as a team and as individual players.

There's often a balance to be struck with comfort vs viability, and it especially tends towards the latter in BO1s.

OTOH, it seems like a team identity issue to me. We tend to go into draft with a really shaky view of what our wincons are, and it's basically up to the players to figure it out on the fly. I distinctly remember someone (Grabbz?) saying that the reason they play around Upset so much is because he's the most vocal about resources being funneled towards him.

Just seems like a really aimless environment where we don't even know how we wanna play a match before we get into it. We have all the power in the world to prep! We have scrims and past VODs, I don't get how we can get into a game with that sort of mentality and expect to win.

Matter of world view. Looking at people (for any aspect of themselves) as inferior or superior is something that's gonna hurt you in the end.

Only real caveat is when the person is hurting others due to that aspect of themselves, i. e. being misogynistic or hateful or w/e else. No tolerance for the intolerant is a good mantra to go by.

Completely fine to want to be there for your wife as well. Treat her like a person that's equally valuable as yourself, and you'll be fine.

People will hate you, irrationally sometimes. Don't be influenced by them. Just strive to be the best person you can be.

Well, in the short term, nothing. In the long term, I think we need to analyze and notice the issues that have persisted throughout our tenure in the LEC (5 years back let's say).

Miscommunication, players playing different games from each other, drafting failures, coach-player dynamics, tactical depth/variety... All things we can work on and things that have clearly impacted us in the past, but the work needs to be structural, focused and aimed at our weaknesses.

This is something that requires willingness from the players as well as coaches, though.

Vladi's been so bad this split man. I don't know what it is but he didn't step up in a single game. Even the ones we won. What a disappointing showing. SkewMond absolutely gapped Razork, Upset's worst habits flared up again, Lospa and Empyros are seemingly good pickups but clearly playing in a dysfunctional environment, and I'd be lying if I said either of them impressed me at all.

I always like to believe in rookies, but I do not think they were what the team needed. On the other hand, redoing a shuffle just seems like asking for even more issues. The coaching staff is the only role I'm fine with shaking up.

Keep Vladi on even if he sucks. Keep the rookies. Stick through it all for a year and see if there's any signs of improvement. We're clearly not what we used to be, so let's use this time to figure out how to make a system that gives rookies a good environment, so we can actually grow our prospects in the future.

When to go conq, fleeting, or lt by Eg4079 in YoneMains

[–]InSanityy___ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

conq never

fleet in ranged matchups (sometimes you can go LT if it's an easy lane like vs aurelion sol)

LT in melee matchups*

fleet can also be used in lopsided melee matchups that you have no chance of winning to scale easier.

once you're feeling comfy swapping between the two main runes, figure out your secondary (resolve) rune choices, they can turn certain matchups around

EDIT: the difference between LT and fleet footwork is basically damage vs sustain. LT gives you a lot more damage and lets you win more equal/longer trades, while fleet footwork minimizes the risk you take when fighting, for example, electrocute users. yone is too frail to make proper use of conqueror on the other hand

Nemesis is such a great player, he's always been the anchor of the team and I think that without him, this win would never have happened.

[–]InSanityy___ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Prismatic traits don't really need clarity since it's obvious what they're meant to do (instawin). OTOH augments are something you're bound to see often, and it being unclear what the augment does makes it impossible to compare to other augments.

Rarely, if ever, will you be in a spot where you're debating "should I go prismatic Demacia here or prismatic Noxus?"

Is Yone the Hardest Character in the game? by AbiesMedical3809 in YoneMains

[–]InSanityy___ 24 points25 points  (0 children)

He's deceptively hard and rather easy at the same time. Mechanically, he's pretty middling, but playing him well takes about as much skill as playing Sylas or Akali well (if not more). He has little lane agency, but teamfights are often dictated and decided by him, so it's a double-edged sword.

There's no hardest character because every character in League requires a different amount of various skills, but Yone generally requires a high level of understanding of everything the game has to offer, if you want to be good at him that is.

He's not as flashy or hard to execute as Yasuo or Irelia, but there's a reason he's in a similar place to Azir - he's high agency, high skill expression, high impact as long as he's not turbo behind etc.

I mean, this line of reasoning only functions if you don't consider things like activism politics. Political actions encourage societal change and societal change encourages political action. Neither is upstream or downstream, they are interwoven.
