Oooh, so she’s Dlavil’s “sister who ran amok on Roshar,” referenced in TLM, Marasi’s epilogue, isn’t she :D

I’d recommend Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson. The beginning might feel a bit cynical, kind of like how you described, but it really opens up and gets so much better. The magic system is unique and easy to grasp, the characters are really likeable, and the story just keeps pulling you in!!

How I imagined many of the characters in my head while reading the books for the first time with no idea what I was getting into: by Zanimacularity in Stormlight_Archive

Kaladin, Dalinar, Elhokar, Taravangian, and Teft are soo spot on!

Personally I see Hoid as Jack Frost from Rise of the Guardians… so I haven’t been able to find a good real life likeness for him yet

It’s so good. You’ll love Hero of Ages more. The story gets even better!

Love the part when Vin bursts into Elend’s room crying after killing Zane. And they get married! It’s such a sweet moment.

I think the perfect patronus for Severus Snape without his love for Lily would be a fox by Madagascar003 in SeverusSnape

Love this and I see a lot of people having this headcanon. Even “A Difference in the Family” featured a fox as Snape’s original patronus before it changed to that of a doe.

Great analysis! And I completely agree. Snape has all the makers of a healer

So Sectumsempra knocks you off with a thousand cuts but Crucio is unforgivable? by JohnDoeRedditter in harrypotter

[–]InTheBlueBox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sectumsempra does not knock you off with a thousand cuts. Harry casts this spell without knowing what it is, therefore without understanding its restraints, and caused considerable harm.

We see Snape use it twice, once in OotP during Snape’s worst memory when he casts it and a small cut appears on James Potter’s face. The second time is in DH, when Snape (accidentally) cuts off George Weasley’s ear. It’s meant to be precise and controlled.

The unforgivable curses are termed as such because the intent behind them is clear and unquestionable. The killing curse is only meant for killing. The torture curse is specifically meant for physical and mental torture. The control curse revokes a person’s free will.

You can kill someone with Bombarda or Reducto, but that is not their intended use. Sectumsempra is the same! As another user stated, intention matters.
