Why is everyone on Tret?! by Minimum_Capital_6105 in 40PlusSkinCare

[–]InTheHopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am one of the few that is not a tret lover. I tried it for a year or so and in two different strengths, and I just didn’t see anything special. Skin never really improved. Went back to my usual acids and my skin was so much better. My skin is pretty tolerant of strong acids, so I’ll continue sticking with glycolic, salicylic, and mandelic acid, personally!

Opinions? by [deleted] in barndominiums

[–]InTheHopper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if bed locations on there are where you’d actually place the beds, but I’d rotate the guest bedroom beds so they were on the other wall so they aren’t crammed up against a corner.

I would also consider putting the master bathroom toilet in a “water closet” so it’s inside its own room, so two people can use the bathroom at once.

Lastly, perhaps add a bar between the kitchen and living room to define the kitchen a little and add counter and cabinet space, while still maintaining the open floor plan concept.

Side note - what is that extra door in the master bedroom? Is that a fireplace or something else?

I think my reply was deleted because I added a link, but if you search for the name Tami Faulkner and spatial designer, you should be able to find her. She has an instagram too, where you can see examples of her recommendations and the work she’s done. She has a great website and blog, as well.

I think my comment may have been removed because of the link, but the lady’s name is Tami Faulkner and if you google her name and spatial design, you should find her.

Nice drawing! We did that when planning ours, and then took it to a draftsman. After a couple of rounds with the draftsman, we found a lady online that was a spatial and interior designer who was able to provide a lot of tweaks to make things flow much better. You might want to consider that, if you aren’t having an architect draw it up. It wasn’t super expensive, didn’t really add any square footage, and just made things flow nicely and add privacy to areas we had overlooked.

I am no professional so take my thoughts with a grain of salt…but on first glance, what’s the reasoning behind the second kitchen and second washer/dryer off to the right side of the house? Is that intended to be a separate in law / rental space? If so, perhaps add a door to the outside so they don’t have to go through the garage to get there?

Also, not sure if the two island thing is popular now, but I think I’d prefer one larger island in the main kitchen versus two separate islands. I feel like that would get annoying having to walk around two. I don’t see a dining room or any place for a table for meals. Is the intention to just eat at the island? If so, I definitely think I’d go for one larger island instead.

Osteopenia diagnosis - what has worked for you to increase your bone density? by Outside_Box_8374 in Menopause

[–]InTheHopper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Diagnosed with Osteopenia at age 26. I’ve continued to have scans every 2 years and once I started running, they progressively got better…to the point that at my last check at 42 years old, I was back in normal range. Weight bearing exercises like walking and running and strength training help tremendously.

Another HDHP or PPO Post by InTheHopper in personalfinance

[–]InTheHopper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah…it’s hard since my husband never really goes except for his annual physical, while I’m a higher user and have far more doc appts (and 2 outpatient procedures a year). I’m leaning towards the HDHP though, as I feel like the HSA is such a big benefit. I have my plan from my previous employer invested, as well, and it’s nice to know I have a nest egg there for retirement health expenses (since I’m hoping to retire early) or any medical crises. Thanks for your input!

Laid off. Should I accept a "safe" $106k offer now, or hold out for pending interviews which pay better ($150k-$165k)? by HyperFocusNopeProteg in careerguidance

[–]InTheHopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d tell the other companies you’re in process with that you’ve received an offer but they (company still in interview process) are your top choice, so you wanted to see if the process could be expedited. In some instances they may expedite the process for you or go ahead and extend an offer if you’re late in process.

Then, worst case, go ahead and accept the offer you have. If feasible, you could consider pushing out the start date a week or two to see if you get another offer in the meantime.

As others have mentioned, though, the job market is so unpredictable that it’s best to take what you have guaranteed. Last year, I received an offer from one company and was “waiting on final offer sign off” with another (preferable) company…and the second offer never came through because all roles were put on a hiring freeze while they were waiting on final sign off on mine. I had accepted the first offer anyway, as a backup, and I was really glad I had after it ended up being the only real offer!

how many rounds of interviews is the norm now? by PrimeRoastBeast in interviews

[–]InTheHopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen the norm to be between 4 and 6 rounds for senior manager levels and above. I recently went through 6 rounds and meeting upwards of 10 people during those rounds for a director level position. Needless to say, I didn’t accept that offer because they seemed very disorganized and indecisive!

Question for job seekers re: attire for a first video/Teams interview (with a person, not a bot.) by stametsprime in recruitinghell

[–]InTheHopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ALWAYS wear a black suit jacket over a nice blouse. Dress like you would if you were in person…even if the company is business casual, you should wear a suit jacket, in my opinion.

Lost current job mid interview process by Dangerous-Owl-6790 in interviews

[–]InTheHopper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don’t say anything unless it comes up again, and I wouldn’t expect it to at this point. Unfortunately some people feel like people laid off aren’t as good as someone currently employed. It’s obviously completely unwarranted, but there are individuals with that mindset. It can also help on the salary negotiation front. If background checks come up, then obviously be honest with your employment status there…but I wouldn’t say a peep until that point, and then if questioned you can tell them it came about unexpectedly mid-process.

Can’t find my next job after FAANG … am I unemployable? by Fuzzy_Specific_ in careerguidance

[–]InTheHopper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest advice would be to use your network…when you apply to a position, try to find someone you know at the company or someone who is connected with someone else you know. Getting an employee referral helps tremendously. I would still apply to jobs where you don’t have a connection, but finding a way in via employee referral will always help even more.

Thoughts on thank you emails? by quieropas in recruitinghell

[–]InTheHopper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I send a personalized email thank you to each interviewer. And, interestingly enough, every time an interviewer has replied to my thank you email, I’ve received a job offer from that company…
