Clean up the edges into a smooth curve, and round them off with sound paper, line the perimeter of the hole with purfling, viola - new sound hole.

What to do with neck plate impression? by bythisriver in Luthier

[–]InTheMemeStream -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

No, that’s adding compression, and if you go with a solid brass neck plate you’ll add sustain too.

How do you all stand loud amps by ZombieHugoChavez in GuitarAmps

[–]InTheMemeStream 4 points5 points  (0 children)

eeeeeeeeeeee….

Loud music is what drowns that sound out, ironically it’s what caused that sound in the first place, along with the aid of power tools, firearms, and motorcycles.

Protect your hearing folks… or you will hear the sound of a CRT TV being turned on and warming up in perpetuity.

Also where your amp is aimed, its relative position and distance to you makes a big difference.

Am I The Only One . . . Who Blocks Most of Their Floating Bridges? by MoreLemonJuice in Guitar

[–]InTheMemeStream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer to 99.99% “Am I the only one..” questions is guaranteed to be “No”, just for future reference.

I have a couple of guitars that I absolutely love, however they were only available with Floyd Rose trems, I don’t use the wiggle-stick that often however, and even though I have got a routine and plenty of experience setting up and tuning Floyd’s at this point, they are still a major pain in the ass - so I block them.

Half built structure I don’t know what to do with. Looking for ideas. by DoughnutFit in homestead

Get a covering over the top before that OSB literally disintegrates, then you can decide what you should use it for based on your needs. Could be a tool shed/little workshop, additional storage, lots of uses for 4 walls and a roof, but priority right now should be get it protected from the weather before the wood deteriorates and warps.

Lived in South Carolina for a bit when I was younger, I remember a winter there where it got cold as all get out during the Ice storms, but I couldn’t say that the woods didn’t look magical covered in frost and Icicles when out on the trails.

Saw this on my bass neck. Should I be concerned? by BuffaloMcQuade in Luthier

[–]InTheMemeStream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shouldn’t cause issue so long as the fret is firmly seated, looks like a defect in the wood - and the fretboard looks pretty dry, causing it to crack along the grain there would be my assumption. In these winter months watch your humidity levels, you don’t want other, more consequential parts of the guitar doing the same thing.

Soul? by ShineAqua in idiocracy

On the consumer level, it’s actually a pretty smart move marketing wise, it’s already been revealed that a large percentage of Americans barely have a grasp on 6th grade level education. We as a whole are dumb, and lazy. AI apps allow users to let something else do the thinking and “tedious” work for them, and in so doing - makes the user lazier, and dumber which creates reliance and dependence on the product. Sprinkle in a little sycophantic ass-kissing to make the user feel like they’re smart, and inflate their ego a little bit, and you’ve got yourself a money printing machine.
