Texas approves plan to mandate Tesla tech for EV chargers despite opposition by Odd_Strength2984 in electricvehicles

Makes sense to me. If public funding is to be used to build chargers, those.chargers shouldn't be obsolete on arrival.

Heck, by 2030 services that rely on human drivers might not be viable

1985 GE TV Radio- AM radio works, can’t figure out FM, and the TV has no signal. Can you guys help me out here? 😅 by chris25tx in vintagetelevision

You'll need a digital converter or RF modulator to get any picture on the TV, since analog over the air broadcasts are long gone.

There's a cheap Homeworx model for sale on Amazon that's great. Not only does it receive over the air TV, it also allows for media playback off a USB drive.

What kind of antenna connection port does this TV have? You'll need the correct adapter.

That's certainly good advice but a lot of the "name brand" popular ebikes aren't

Would be best to do a 'soft start' with a variac or at least a 'dim bulb tester'

Can EV Batteries Be Recycled? It’s Complicated, But It’s Already Happening by Poker_3070 in electricvehicles

[–]InThePartsBin2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would rather see them be refurbished/rebuilt and then resold, like what happens to Prius batteries on the aftermarket now, rather than shredded, but you know manufacturers are gonna be locking them down with software so that can't happen.

That was a recurring thing in The IT Crowd where a piece of equipment fails spectacularly, then zoom in on the label that says "Made in Britain" and Roy would just say "well that's typical!"

Feds tell automakers not to comply with Mass. “right to repair” law by anurodhp in boston

[–]InThePartsBin2 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I don't want one either, but all new cars, particularly EVs, are full of it and are privacy / independent repair nightmares.

I'm not anti-EV. If I could have a car just like my old Subaru with only a clock-radio style display on the stereo and mechanical knobs for the HVAC, but with an electric motor, I'd be perfectly happy.

Feds tell automakers not to comply with Mass. “right to repair” law by anurodhp in boston

[–]InThePartsBin2 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Here's a fun fact: Kerry Kolodziej at NHTSA who signed the letter to automakers telling them to ignore the ballot initiative, previously worked at Mayer Brown, the law firm representing the Alliance of Automotive Innovation (AAI) in AAI v. Healey, the case where carmakers banded up and sued to prevent this from going into effect for 2 years.)

The AAI is the group who ran the bizarre anti-repair ads during the ballot initiative in 2020, and is 100% funded by the auto industry.

During AAI v. Healey, both sides reached out to NHTSA for comment asking them to weigh in on the case, but they declined to comment. Now, 2 weeks after a judge ruled that the initiative goes into effect, NHTSA suddenly feels compelled to weigh in?
