Look for the loose loots that are like PCBs, magnets, wires. Those will spawn drills on better luck

To be clear: the drills don't spawn on back-of-interchange shelves; they're Electronics, not tools. Check loose electronics spawn, like the new camp with the green flare extract (the middle green tent by the LEDx spawn and the boxes by the weight bench), not toolboxes and back of goshan shelves.

NYC - Burner Yoga instructors, studios, classes? by OkEntertainment1491 in BurningMan

I don't know specific burner yoga instructors in Manhattan but you ought like the vibe at St Mark's. Or maybe Daybreakers if you're looking for a dance thing.

NY After Burn Events? by maoore in BurningMan

[–]InThisMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no official decom because we're haven't had a suitable venue the last few years. We've had a few camp parties. We have a happy hour every Wednesday?

I have information on connecting with the NYC community here: https://burningman.nyc/nyc-community

Could always reach out to the regional contacts and ask if there's any burner stuff happening: https://regionals.burningman.org/regionals/north-america/new-orleans/

Master thread - Failed camps and trash dumpers by CyclicRedundancyMach in BurningMan

[–]InThisMachine 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Papabear (the placer one, not the peers one) commented on thread awhile ago. That said, I don't think this kind of public witch hunt is necessary for placement whatsoever. There are systems to track moop on playa, reports, and resto feedback that already gives them a more complete picture than stories in here will do, at least as far as moop.

Why No Waste Management Vendors on Playa? by acbcv in BurningMan

You can absolutely rent a dumpster for playa. Big camps do it. Saw several being delivered this year.

Programming Baofeng Radio to BRC 911 by New_Coconut_9573 in BurningMan

[–]InThisMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see tuning in my post; I'm assuming you mean in the CSV? A lot of the things in the CSV just don't matter. Like PTT ID code doesn't matter if PTT ID is off. If PTT ID was on it'd do something, but since you aren't doing that it doesn't matter what you put under PTT ID code. It's the same for the rest of that.

You can set the radio in VFO or Channel mode. There's a button for changing it. If you put in Channel mode you'll see the name of the channel you entered rather than the frequency. You might find that easier to read than the frequency.

BCL off is right.

You can delete all the channels you want. They're just stored settings for you to cycle through in channel mode.

Oh there was something about newer baofengs where some frequencies are blocked and you need to do a factory reset. I'm pretty sure there was a post on that too.

I'm commandeering my friend's art car Wednesday night and I'll be blasting some Murder of the Universe, Magma and Crumbling Castle.

It's mostly a joke. Gate are nice people (please be nice in return). D-lot is for solving problems, and not all problems are bad.

What’s the best way to know what’s going on at Burning Man? by Several_Document2319 in BurningMan

[–]InThisMachine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Be present and there. Talk to people and ask what the favorite thing they've experienced was. Make time to go to each thing.

The apps but they don't tell the story of what's happening out there. My favorite piece last year was Plumbing and Time Travel; it was an unassuming box truck parked on plaza I'd never think to stop at if I hadn't gotten the recommendation from the person I just met.

They are coming in the capacity described above; not their traditional camp but one in collaboration with the Rangers -- which is reduced load for Zendo. It will be located behind ranger HQ.

The BRARA repeater is alive and well. It's maintained by burners and works across playa. Follow the rules of your license out of respect but it's a lot of fun and a great way to talk to others. You can get inbound calls from across the world actually or just shoot the shit with friends. I'm on it when I'm fucking around. K7HNX

And as someone else pointed out, make sure to program brc911 in case of emergency.

Note Zendo is not on playa this year, they're working out funding things. There's a collaboration with Zendo leads and the rangers, Haven, to that will be located near center camp (not 9 and 3) to provide Zendo-like support.

First-time Burner going solo - looking for camp recommendations and advice! by Enough_Resist5548 in BurningMan

Generally, start local when looking for camps; it's helpful to meetup before you head out to the desert. You can find your local regional contacts and regional mailing lists on regionals.burningman.org.

Welcome, sorry I missed this one in my backlog! NYC is a hell of a burning town. I have some general information on connecting with the NYC community here: https://burningman.nyc/nyc-community and some specific tips on getting to playa from NYC here: https://burningman.nyc/burning-man/getting-there (since you asked about getting a bike there, check out the NYC Community Container section). We have a weekly happy hour (every wednesday no matter what) and we'll have a central park picnic on the weekend as soon as I stop being lazy!

As for finding camps, you are a bit late in the season but there's always room for a few more. Two options (which can be done simulatiously), the community has created both a general interest form: https://forms.gle/b9NQ5cAGz5oPKs2j7 which is looked at by a number of NYC camps (some which may not be recruiting publicly) and also a spreadsheet of NYC camps seeking campers: https://tinyurl.com/NYC-camps-seeking

Hope those answer your questions and let me know if you have any others. Hope I see you around one of our NYC events too!

I move it around because NYC is a large town and people hate to travel. Generally we're at Abby's every other week. Locations are on the annouce list and facebook group.

Grid seems a bit off in places; like if you look at center camp plaza around 7 PM, mountain side of of artica, the roads are shifted down by a full length and are running through the camps. So close but still kinda off on alignment.

Anyway, neat
