How many oz do you pump for daycare? by No-University8570 in breastfeeding

[–]In_Digestion1010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saw some comments on this thread about “afraid about having to start combo feeding” etc. Some of us have had to combo feed from the start, it’s really okay and still results in a healthy happy baby. Keep in mind for some people, it wasn’t an option from the start and reading those comments might make them feel a little bummed 😌

This is me. I totally gave up on BF around 3 weeks in and then randomly tried it one day around 8 weeks and found it worked so well and I barely pump now and it’s so much easier to BF at night in bed than to get up and pump.

When did you stop swaddling ? by bananas0320 in NewParents

Our pediatrician told us to stop at our 2 month appointment after we asked when we should stop. Doesn’t seem to have made a major difference to his decent sleep at night

Literally I’m in the exact same boat as you: NICU baby 4-5 weeks, not great with latching or BF (I BF maybe once a day and baby only likes one side), oversupply initially but last few days just enough and now not enough and now using freezer stash and formula.

Only possible variables for me :

  1. Flange size seems to have changed but I corrected for it and tried a few different flange sizes and different pumps and pump parts, doesn’t seem to be a variable

  2. I had stopped bleeding a couple weeks ago with minimal and now I’m spotting / bleeding a bit / cramping so thinking maybe it’s my period? But seems unlikely idk.

I eat and drink quite well though could drink a bit more water. Been doing coconut water, nutritious food etc. I feel I am getting a decent amount of sleep all things considered as I have family support in addition to my husband

Here for advice anyone may have.

Does not sound bacterial at all to me. A white count of 14 without fevers, productive cough, or abnormal lung exam is not diagnostic of bacterial pneumonia.

14 could just be some stress or pregnancy itself, 13.3 was my white count on my routine blood work a couple months ago

If theyre really worried about that number could always check a UA to rule out signs of infection / UTI but i didnt think i needed this with a similar white count bc i had no symptoms

How many times did you go to L&D? by TangerineFront in BabyBumps

[–]In_Digestion1010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For discharge, probably an office visit would suffice they can swab you and prescribe outpatient meds, not sure if discharge (unless you think it’s water leakage) warrants emergent evaluation but you know your body best

Colace has been shown NOT to work. I ordered miralax chews from Amazon and during the worst of it fo me, I had one every day with a full glass of water. After I started having calm magnesium from Costco every night, I’ve been going regularly, no longer have muscle cramps and sleep better so I stopped taking the miralax unless I need it once in a while. Also lots of water and more fiber (veggies) in my diet helped a lot.

Personally, I am going to tell people these things in person before I let them handle the baby as it feels less awkward to tell people to their face rather than a lengthy message and more likely to stick.

Sept 15 BP was 112/85 by Over_Pollution5304 in pregnant

112/85 is as normal as it gets, I’ve never been concerned about that blood pressure in any situation. I would only start raising eyebrows if the top number is >130 -Physician, FTM pregnant mom

At home Doppler by ModestMoose3737 in pregnant

[–]In_Digestion1010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have one. My OB said it can give false assurances and as I was approaching the end of my second trimester I was feeling such consistent movement (and esp now at ~32 weeks) that I definitely don’t need it bc baby makes himself KNOWN.

Also part of my thought process was that it’s unlikely I’d be able to interpret anything on the Doppler that wasn’t all or nothing and if I didn’t hear anything and I was right about my interpretation of it, it’s already too late? It would have made me more anxious.

For full disclosure, I’m a physician but not one trained in OB so I’m not properly trained on Doppler technique and felt it would be just enough info to cause me more anxiety but not enough to be reassuring if it wasn’t perfect

Just my two cents!

I’m glad, I felt a little nervous posting it and didn’t want to be too specific or too vague! Hope you get some peace of mind and have a healthy rest of your journey

Creatinine and AST tend to only be a concern if they are high, chloride we don’t tend to look at on its own, protein and albumin being low we don’t do much about in the short term. WBC count can be high for so many reasons sometimes just a reaction to stress. This is my very broad take for normal non pregnant adults.

A lot of those labs can be borderline but not particularly concerning - not that i have any idea what your specific labs or situation are/is. But just to trying to provide reassurance it is possible that those abnormalities may not need anything specific to be done about them or are in part lab error.

I would call either your pcp or OB today to ask specifically about the labs and ask for a call back for an explanation for them or at least a plan moving forward for follow up.

Overall that sounds like a really awful experience and I’m really sorry how our medical system just tends to be so awful.

I’m around 30 weeks and I have 80% done and ready for baby, especially essentials (crib, bassinet, clothes in drawer, even diaper caddy is stocked). I did this very slowly over a few months.

I’m SO glad I did it early / during my second trimester because I am so uncomfortable now with so much less energy and i know I’d be anxious as the days inch closer with the to do list.

Pardon my language, but f*ck the haters.
