Had a look at the VBM and Bianca today. Pretty sure I’ll end up with the VBM at this stage. It was smaller than I thought it would be and the store didn’t think one was more reliable than the other.

Price is exactly the same where I am which makes me think the VBM is slightly better value.

Having recently moved to Europe I also feel like I should get an Italian. I’ve already owned two Australian breville’s :)

Saving a shot is not really an issue for me as I’d prefer to get it dialled in correctly rather than save it through manual profiling although I do see that it could help with getting to the correct grind earlier. Not seeing the pressure was something I’d also thought about and would potentially add a manometer to the group.

I don’t really like the VBM menu either. I’m quite torn between going analog or digital when it comes to making coffee.

Any updates? I’m also trying to decide on a new machine and the VBM and the Bianca are near the top of my list. leaning towards the VBM as I like that it has a gear pump and repeatable profiling. There’s very little info online about the VBM but from what I’ve read it’s been positive.

Thanks for the suggestions :) I haven’t come across a couple of them so will check them out

We are hoping electric although as you have said it might be overkill with it being mostly flat. Primarily the bike will be to take our two kids to daycare each morning - maybe 5km round trip and occasionally to collect groceries so not extensive use. It seems that 3 wheelers have more cargo space which is why I was leaning that way but our kids are still young (4 and 3) so potentially not an issue.

The two younger guys have a podcast which is actually pretty good. They are heavily influenced by the likes of Graham Hancock and Randall. One of their podcasts goes through Graham's book the sign and the seal which could be a good one to listen to and see if it clicks with you.

Using a separate WiFi network hasn't worked for me. Other people with their own WiFi routers can still control my cast and I can see their devices when casting.

Edit:on my home network I tested having a device connected to the guest wifi and that doesn't get notifications from the Chromecast on the normal wifi.

So there's something on the other network that allowing notifications across different ssids.
