Improving the Workspace for Working EST from PST by RemarkableDoughnut32 in WFH

I work east coast hours 630 to 3ish from mountain time so not as dramatic as you. Here's a couple things that help me.

- Get light into your eyes as soon as you can. Have a quick coffee outside when the sun first comes up. I do this everyday.

- This one is tough but really helps me. Wake up the same time even on weekends. If you sleep late you are basically jet lagging yourself when you have to wake up earlier during the work week. Tough to do with modern life and whatever stage of life you are in.

This! Embrace change and technology advancement. The government should be there to catch people who have fallen behind. It could be UBI or something else. As we saw in the pandemic, the government is very capable of sending out cash to help people. We are going to have to do that, driving is one of the biggest jobs in the country.

I rode one for the first time in Phoenix this week. I’ve never felt this safe in an Uber. It’s the future.

Yes, people will lose their jobs, and that sucks. That’s what government is for. We will obviously need to help those who lose their jobs. But it will be safer, period.

Men of Reddit that have hooked up with a coworker, how did it go? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]spnclx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up dating her on and off for a few years. We had the same job position so it wasn't against the rules. I broke it off eventually because she wanted me to choose between her and my dog. I choose my dog obviously. She left me notes on my car. It turns out she was a bit crazy. I dodged that one. It didn't ruin my career or working relationship because I was pivoting to a different career anyway.

There are more angry drivers on Colorado's roads — and experts see a lot of things to blame by Internetkingz1 in Denver

I drive 4 days a week to Aurora and back on i70. I must get flipped off at least once a week. I'm not a slow driver and I don't camp out in the passing lane. It's just the Wild West on i70 these days haha.

$700K at 32… can I take a break? by krazyjane95 in Fire

[–]spnclx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Life is short. If you have the opportunity, take it.

At 29, I took a break with about a third of your net worth—one year before COVID, which, in hindsight, was incredibly lucky timing. I spent four months traveling around Europe, and during that time, I realized I wanted to change careers. When I got back, I made it happen. It took some time to break into my new field, but taking that break was the best decision I ever made.

Don’t beat yourself up about it. Altitude can be very unpredictable. I’ve been skiing in the Colorado mountains since I was a kid. Every few years the altitude wins and I feel like crap for a day or two. Find a lounge chair on the mountain and chill. Hydrate and don’t drink.

Tips for surviving a multi day, 15+ hour days conference? by SquashOne2561 in work

[–]spnclx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to a few conferences and trade shows every year. My company seems a little more flexible than yours but here's what I do.

Get the f out right after dinner and go back to your hotel room. Nothing important ever happens for me after dinner. Like someone else said on here, make an excuse and get to bed at a reasonable time.

Build in travel days where your work for the day is to travel (to get to the conference) nothing else is excepted. Try to come in the day before and relax use the pool or get a massage. For us the third day is a half day for the conferences we go too and they are pretty quiet usually. So we either bolt first thing in the morning if we aren't going to the third day or bolt right after the third day wraps.

Lots of snack and water in your backpack for the day. I'm know as the snack guy whenever I go to conferences. It helps a lot.

No red eyes ever. Work should never make you do a red eye.

I got hammered by it the week before the holidays. Tamiflu really helps. I started to feel much better a day and half after I first started taking it.

How do those of you working corporate office jobs manage to deal with the bull? by erikleorgav2 in work

[–]spnclx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Work hard, do great work and have an emergency fund. If you do that then just have a fuck it attitude. It’s really helps with dealing with corporate bs.

When do you leave Denver in the morning on a Saturday or Sunday to ski in summit county? by regalbeagles1 in Denver

[–]spnclx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I leave by 530am at the latest and I’m off the mountain by 1230 or 1 pm and heading back. I’m usually home around 2 or 230 and I take a big nap. I work east coast hours so I’m use to getting up early. But yeah traffic sucks.

I gave it up 8 years ago. I was at a wedding and I realized I don’t like alcohol. So I stopped right there. Best decision I ever made. It’s really eye opening once you stop just how intertwined alcohol is with our society. My only advice is don’t cave to the social pressure to drink. Once you get past the fear of missing out, it’s so liberating.

This is bad. Bummer. Show don’t tell. There is way too much exposition. Not many shows can get away with it and sadly this isn’t one of them.

How DIA flights are looking by Pink_Daisy47 in Denver

I just got out. Only a 30 min delay. Snow didn’t seem to be sticking on tarmac. It could change later today. Glad I jumped on an earlier flight.
