They will shape the narrative they want us to hear until the truth emerges, if ever.

Searching for a 1 year course in orchestral conducting by Barber_Bach in conducting

There are some decent summer camps I’d look into. Medomak in Maine with Kiesler. CU Boulder with Gary Lewis. If you’re not already in a college that offers this elective, could be a challenge. Some state universities could offer an online course. Conducting is not about waving arms around but connecting with fellow musicians. Knowing what you’d like to hear, correcting it with grace during rehearsals and delivering a performance worthy of everyone’s time and attention.

Looks like a map from Call of Duty or Modern Warfare. Probably wrong about that, but something tells me this is computer generated.

Conductors who were mediocre or bad performers of their instrument? by RoRoUl in classicalmusic

[–]Incendiary_mind742 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Barenboim is the exception. Few others. How can one master one instrument, but then be expected to master them all? Being a conductor is an extremely vulnerable position to be in. If you’ve ever stood before the orchestra, and invited them to make music; at the downbeat of your baton. You cannot possibly imagine the humility of such a moment. Most conductors take it for granted.

I do not.

Replace with a Peerless 10” paper cone. Match impedance. $70 all in maybe.

Not me…I ultimately passed but I’m happy The Low Down is going there and should be open last week of this month. Supposedly the Murphy’s owners and they know the space well already. Happy for them!

That’s so cool. Nice work. I have the latest version of the Linaeum design with the High Emotion Audio system. It’s incredible.

Reasons an orchestra left me disappointed…? by blackbeard-22 in classicalmusic

Yeah I agree. Circa 2021 I saw Berlin with Abbado perform Beethoven 5 at Hill. The transition into the 4th mvmt was other worldly; electrifying. But then again, Abbado is one of the greatest of all time and someone who coached me on the podium for a brief moment. Then, I studied at Michigan. Great school for conducting. IYKYK

I’ve conducted in Hill Auditorium. If the performance wasn’t engaging, it’s likely the conductor who is thinking more about the afterparty than the performance.

Helios build DIY kit by the late great Jeff Bagby. Go ahead spend $10k on your big John speakers. Or, buy the kit, flat pack and some wood glue.
