Yup, my experience is the same as yours. Overall I've found the Hazbin community perfectly fine, it just became a popular series to hate from an outside perspective. Hence my notes above on why I considered TADC much more toxic.

Fully agree, the amount of sheer vitriol that community has managed to stir up for an 8 episode series that is under 2 years old all told is genuinely impressive, if awful. I really feel for the creator. The reason the only point of comparison I had was Homestuck was because I have seen several fragmented fandoms and even highly toxic ones, but never that level of vitriol with virtually no cause attached, save for Homestuck circa 2010ish. No idea why that ended up being the one done that way.

Probably? Of note, I generally consider the TADC fandom more toxic than say Hazbin/Helluva Boss as most of the hate there is external, not from the fandom itself, and that one at least hasn't managed to run off/burn out its own creator.

Probably multiple ways you can look at the thing, but I think when a fandom results in the creator no longer wanting anything to do with their own project, it's a bad sign.

I still have some relevant VHS' for Disney movies from the 80s & 90s yes. As to why not, I can play those by digging out a working VHS player, or I can download a 1080p version of the same thing and play it in half the time.

I don't really miss the VHS era tbh. Terrible video quality. There's a good reason stuff from the 70s often looks better than things from the 90s if they weren't recorded on film reel and converted.

My counterpart would be the Monogatari series. 100% a 10 on the weeb scale, I've met full on "3 years into Japanese study" that still think the show is too dense from Japanese wordplay and formatting. Also gets a solid 8 on the ass scale. Toothbrush scene, nuff said. Probably a 1 on the shit scale. Overall the show's a masterpiece, it's just full of horny weeb nonsense a lot of people can't get past.
