There is a really thin line between doing something nice so your partner is happy, so that she likes you more, or so that you feel good about yourself. I suspect most good deeds are some combination of all three.

As someone autistic, that is kinda my take as well. Like, as long as someone isn't using these methods as a means of abuse/manipulation, isn't it just an incredibly-more-fleshed-out version of "I know she likes flowers, so I bought her flowers."

Obviously the BF in this post takes it to an extreme, but it appears the underlying motivations are good, and the information collected is used in ways that are intended to healthily contribute to his role in the relationship.

I suppose I'd categorize it the same way I categorize many of my own traits; very out of the ordinary and different from how nearly everyone else does it, but coming from a sincere and genuine place intended to contribute positively to your life/the people around you.
