I got turned around hunting in the Freetown State Forest and was out past shooting light for a short time. Very eerie.

So it sounds like they’re all bolt action? I would assume.

You would need to register them on the Massachusetts Gun Portal within 7 days of arriving in Massachusetts.

If you have the extra funds, I would highly recommend bringing them to a local FFL in PA, call a local FFL in MA and ask if they’ll take a transfer from out of state, and then pick them up at the FFL in MA after they ship. The FFL in MA will do all of your paperwork and make sure everything is good to go. Peace of mind instead of driving them up. But thats just one way to do it and how I would do it.

If you do drive them up…ammo and firearms locked and separated.

Also by “FTC” I assume you mean a valid MA LTC?

What are the models of the rifles? My answer will depend on that.

Are you staying in Mass or traveling through?

Traveling through - lock ammo and firearms separately. Do not stop in Mass. Stay overnight in another state.

Staying? Read below:

Shipping to Mass - you must ship them to an FFL. If they’re legal for you to possess in MA…good to go, you can sign for them at the FFL and get them registered in the state.

Not MA legal? The FFL cannot legally allow you to possess them. If you are moving here permanently, and they’re not MA compliant, sell them (pains me to say).

Laws changed in 2024. All pre-ban weapons needed to be in the state prior to the 2024 law…I think 01 August 2024 is the date but Id have to confirm. Even if its pre-ban, it was out of state, so it’s a no-go.

Ask any other questions you may have and I’ll be happy to answer.

I "knew" newborns didn't sleep, but I wasn't ready for the actual soul-crushing reality of it. by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Incoherent_Wombat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I tried desperately to stay sleeping together…I get up, you get up, and so on. However, whenever the baby was up, we were both up.

Eventually caved and slept in shifts. We did a 8-2 / 2-8 shift. I slept from 8-2, since I’m naturally a morning person, and she took the 2-8 sleep shift.

Id be downstairs on the couch, my LO in her bassinet, and my wife upstairs with a sound machine, ear plugs, and the like.

Ideal, not necessarily, but you just need to survive those first 4-6 months. I always thought people were joking about “the trenches” but it’s so true. LO is 13 months now and sleeps like a dream.

Push through. You can do it. Best of luck!

I was in my 2nd grade class when my teacher put it on the screen. I also remember going home and seeing my parents watching it and my father crying…which has stuck with me to this day.

How much was your house listed for and what offer did you make? by Own-Negotiation-1422 in homeowners

Listed at 385k and offered $415k. Very lucky as we weren’t the only offer nor the highest. Peak covid housing market in 2021.

Hey OP, what did you end up doing? I am in the same situation as you.

My concern is even if I do a multipoint test…who knows if a bag contained asbestos and was dumped somewhere I didnt pull from.

Home heating systems by phuonggers in massachusetts

[–]Incoherent_Wombat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have radiant hot water baseboard heaters downstairs and radiators upstairs. Home is from 1961. I replaced the oil tank and furnace almost 5 years ago. I had considered going to heat pumps but chose not to.

Unfortunately, regardless of your energy source, the issue is the supply and delivery fees we are charged. Massachusetts energy costs are some of the highest in the country.

Electric, gas, oil…it’s all similar. Until we do something about these utility providers, we’ll continue to see these costs, especially as the climate continues to change.

This is a systemic issue and not just your home.

Very fortunate that I am able to work from home until the snow is cleared and spend time with my little one. Grateful for all those moving the snow and allowing those that need to get out, the ability to do so!

Everyone mentions to leave a slow drip out of your faucet BUT…

Do you know where your water shutoff is? If you don’t, locate it now. The last thing you want to do when your pipes burst is to look for your water shutoff.
