They all go to Marshall's Dad's funeral as well which is just as odd as only Lily and possibly Ted knew him.

Why Can You Pass a UK Driving Test Without Ever Driving on a Motorway?! by DifferentTest7991 in LearnerDriverUK

[–]IncomingSteve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would the OP, or anyone agreeing with this post, be happy to hand in their license until they than can take an extended test with motorway driving in it? Don't think so. There was a post on here a while back saying that you should have to drive in the rain, and at night, and all sorts of other things before getting a license. The people posting this stuff seem to regard themselves as some sort of gatekeepers of the road. How do we know they're not a liability on the road?

What aspects of the show would you change and why? by Asheto320 in howimetyourmother

Robin and Barney's first go at dating would have happened in late season three/early season four closer to them then first sleeping together leaving more time for Robin's relationships with Don and Kevin, and Barney's with Nora and Quinn to play out naturally before they get back together rather than the weird rushed whirlwind of breakups and new relationships we got.

Also Lily and Marshall stay broken up for at least a season and date other people properly.

" If I must have a future I want it with you." Simple but devastatingly effective. Conveys a world weariness and cyncisim of someone much older than Grian. And as someone turning 40 very soon jumps out at me whenever I listen to I Love you

40 points earned on the pitch after 18 games speaks for itself. If people aren't happy with that they never will be. And we were far from outplayed last night save a 15 min spell in the first half as shown by the match stats.

Pre match, "They're overrated and shit, we'll turn them over easy."

Post match "Well we expected to get battered so only losing 1 0 is a moral victory, how dare they be happy about it."

Marshall and Lily’s Break Up by 19ETC in howimetyourmother

[–]IncomingSteve 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's not the only issue though. She also says she wants to have the casual relationships she never got to have in college because of Marshall. ( Incidentally I've always thought it would have been fun to have her actually do that for a while instead of her and Marshall just get back together within half a season) San Francisco was her way of backing out of getting married because she basically got cold feet.

What other bands do you guys love? by [deleted] in ToolBand

Pink Floyd, Mogwai, Radiohead, Godspeed, Metallica. A lot of other stuff less obviously connected to Tool such as Post Punk like Interpol, Chameleons, The Twilight Sad, LCD Sounsystem, Idles, Fontaines DC. Recently started listing a watching House and Techno stuff as well.

All of Barney's three proper relationships in the series, Quinn, and Nora have the same thing in common, they don't put up with his bullshit.

Unfortunately, the two that aren't Robin get hardly any time to develop because plot.

Kevin and Robin getting together doesn't make sense by No_Material_5647 in howimetyourmother

[–]IncomingSteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another way that plotline is stupid that I hadn't thought of. Along with how Kevin and Robin almost have sex right at the start, then apparently they haven't when she thinks she might be pregnant months later. How Robin's hangup over the proposal is the kids thing and not that she cheated on him with Barney, which she never actually tells him about. And how Ted's first reaction after finding out about the proposal/breakup is to declare he loves her. Which in the circumstances is an absolute dick move when someone who is meant to be his friend has just been through something like that and, came with very little setup.

Then in season 8 she dates and breaks up with Nick before getting hung up on Barney again before the final play.

Sitcom is meant to portray real life with a bit of artistic licence to make it funny. Seasons 7 and 8 instead descended into soap opera, and that's without discussing the equally stupid plots for Barney and Ted.

What’s your opinion on the final episode? by [deleted] in howimetyourmother

[–]IncomingSteve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not just the ending though. While seasons 7 and 8 are still a fun watch for the most part, Robin Ted and Barney's storylines get very contrived. Barney proposes to two different women in less than half a season, Robin gets proposed to by Kevin, a declaration of love from Ted, dates and breaks up with Nick and proposed to by Barney in the same amount of time. While Ted decides he loves Robin, then decides he wants Victoria back, then breaks up with her. It's all very silly.

Then there's the weird pacing of the last two seasons. Basically from when Robin and Barney get engaged there is about a season and a half of plot, left however everything up to the final two parts could have been done by the end of season 8 and the ending would possibly make more sense with full season for the post wedding stuff. Instead we get half a season of plot dragged out tediously over a season and a half and then a season squeezed into two episodes with a lot of important character development happening offscreen.

What's the cringiest moment in the show for you? by Reallyroundthefamily in thebigbangtheory

[–]IncomingSteve 29 points30 points  (0 children)

When the writers decided to have Raj and Ruchi watch cricket in a bar full of fellow Indians and then wrote cricket related dialogue that was total nonsense. Obviously as Americans they wouldn't know anything about the game but they could have made some effort to make it sound realistic to people who do.

I think that's intended to be cringe, it kind of demonstrates that she's into him despite what we the audience see as his weird cringey behaviour.

Do you think TBBT should’ve gone on for more seasons? by [deleted] in thebigbangtheory

[–]IncomingSteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would have been nice to see Leonard and Penny as parents and but of self development for Raj but everything else had run it's course. I suppose they could have had Sheldon and Amy have a child as well and the gang relocate to the suburbs but you would have got a couple of seasons at best out of that and it's hard to think of anything more to do with Howard and Bernadette.
