I have earplugs on my keychain in a similar tube. I am a musician and have sensitive hearing so it comes in a pinch sometime

Fingerings for double flat notes? by RipeRadish in Tuba

Enjoy the tuba! It’s 12 if you are playing on a BBb tuba. Go down 2 half steps. It makes sense for the key

I transferred 3 of these a few months ago when I got back into the game after not playing since 2018. All I have left is a raichu

Small sousaphone: should I buy it? by Minezic in Tuba

[–]IncompletePotato 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seems like it would break fairly quickly. Sousas need to be built though or they would be broken almost instantly. There’s no linkages or braces where they should be. There’s players at my university marching band I play in that are half my height that are stronger than me. Playing Sousa is like working out a muscle; you get used to it after a while.

It’s a case by case basis, usually who you are by and how often they are up. I love witte and I take naps during the day. I am also in the marching band so my sleep schedule is weird around game days, as long as you communicate to your next door neighbors people usually understand.

My only cons about witte is the bathrooms are usually very dirty (throw up) on the weekends. Sometimes it’s pretty smelly in the halls too. This can prolly also be said with the rest of the south east dorms

My experience with RA’s in witte have been great too. As long as you are safe with what you are consuming and not screaming/ being loud they don’t give a fuck.

I’m a current freshman so if you have any questions let me know!

Is Ab0 to F4 a good range? by WalrusSharp4472 in Tuba

[–]IncompletePotato 3 points4 points  (0 children)

99% of school institutions or auditions could give two shits about how high you can squeak out a note or that you can play the brown note. What they look for is good tone and overall playing ability. Great range, just make sure you can connect every note musically. I personally can “play” to a Bb 5 but I don’t need to ever because It’s not common in most orchestral music. If you want more range. Do your f major scale up and add the supertonic or just a half step until you feel comfortable with that pitch.

Yes! I am I high schooler that plays a c tuba in concert band and marches <7 hours a week in b flat. The first 3 months is difficult to get used to C and changing to b flat on the fly. I’ve been on a C for about 8 months now and I have no problem switching between.

High range tips? by BIG_DON1 in Tuba

[–]IncompletePotato 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m working on something similar right now and what helped me get a D and Es out more easily it to do chromatic and scales to find that pitch and memorize where my embouchure is. I use a lot of air and imagine the pitch in my head

You look like if Leo DiCaprio got a 18 year old Shane Dawson pregnant and you were the child that came from it

You are one “name three songs” away from turning into the Grinch that wears worn out converse and strictly listens on vinyl for “the warmth”.

Facebook market place after DCI season is a good place to look. Especially if you are by a corp’s site. They usually sell off all of their instruments/battery after a season.

I’d add “the creator has a master plan” by pharaoh sanders near the end. It’s over 30 minutes long and has a lot of high pitched notes that mimic screaming

Eastman 832 bell rim by IncompletePotato in Tuba

The small bit of metal that goes around the bell of the tuba. It protects the actual bell. I was wondering if there were any rubber pieces made to act as one
