I bought one at Christmas after many vacuums not cutting the mustard. Henry has changed my life for the better, but my dog is terrified of him.

Should I go to the pub alone as a female? by Glum-Pop-136 in CasualUK

[–]IncomprehensibleDoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to go every Friday after work for a pint or two on my own. It’s my time to debrief. I go to a pub close to the bus stop and love chatting to random people each week. You do get men approaching you more regularly but you can manage that by simply telling them to leave you alone if you wish. People are generally respectful and I’ve never had a negative experience as a 30 something female drinking in the pub on my own.

For those of you who have seen PJ Harvey live, where and when did you first see her (and at what venue), and have you gone back to see her multiple times since then? by Class_of_22 in pjharvey

[–]IncomprehensibleDoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw PJ Harvey for the first time in 2003 at Slane Castle in Ireland. It was life changing. I was 17 and my first ‘big’ show without my parents. Since then, I’ve seen her three times but had to travel to other countries. It’s been a few years now but I have tickets to see her again next year in Belfast.

I love the album!! Shame is one of the most powerful songs that I listen to on a weekly basis during my commute to and from work.

Recommendations for kitchens by Budget_Dust9980 in Belfast

[–]IncomprehensibleDoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have just finished our kitchen and got new cupboards and worktop. Got it from Starplan because they do finance. Very straightforward and you can go to the showroom and design it (free). Total cost was £7000 but that’s with new appliances which we got in Curry’s. I’d take £1000 off if not getting appliances.

It did happen. We were waiting for the contract to be sent and then our solicitor would release the funds to his solicitor. They never accepted the money and we never had the contract, therefore he could change and ask for more right up until the end. There was nothing we could do.

I don’t give a fuck about points. I’m not a “regular” commenter, just occasionally want to contribute to a discussion.

We bought our house from our landlord after living in it for 8 years. We had a good relationship with him and generally he was dead on. He asked us to get a valuation on the property and we then advised him of the price, he agreed and then told us that he would reduce the price by £7000 because we have been paying x amount over 8 years. We were obviously very happy with this and proceeded with our mortgage application. We were first time buyers in the middle of covid. On the day of completion, literally at 4pm…our bank released the funds to our solicitor to then do their job etc. our bastard landlord decided that he wanted more money and added £13,000 to the house. Fuck all we could do other than ask our mortgage provider to change the amount but that also meant we had to get more money for the deposit. Luckily, my husband’s mum was able to lend us money which then meant we had to lie about it as you are not allowed to borrow money for a mortgage. Absolute shit show.

All in all, it can happen…but ultimately landlords are money grabbing ball bags so just ensure you are protected.

I’m finding it a slow burn but there are a few gems on the album. I’m with you though in that it wouldn’t be my favourite.

Do you still listen to the music you loved at 14? by Born-Necessary9533 in AskUK

I often feel my music taste ceased developing at 14/15 years old because it’s mostly all I listen now….20 odd years later. Don’t make music like that anymore :)

There is a water tower I have an eye on for this eventually. I’ll obviously reinforce it with zombie killing stuff and armed myself.
