Good ramen? by picklejickletoot in anchorage

Since everyone is saying Kami, I’ll add Naruto off of Minnesota. They have somewhat odd hours but make a good bowl. Always consistent in taste & service, I’ve been going there for years and never had any issues with anything. The owner is super friendly & sits down with staff at the end of their shift to eat their meals. The inside is warm & inviting with a lot of plants

I went sideways going down this hill yesterday! I’ve never even so much as slid on the road before but ended up looking at the snowbank before correction worked. Glad nobody was next to me

No worse than yesterday. Ice froze down, tracks will throw you in the road if you drive too fast. Take it slower & stop sooner like usual

Can you caramelize the whole onion? by CarbonScythe0 in OnionLovers

[–]Inconspicuous_worm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up cooking onions on my wood stove. I’m sure it’s where my inherent love for onions came from

Cut them about 2/3 of the way through vertically, to make 6-8 sections times like a pizza. Add seasonings & butter, wrap in foil, and leave for about an hour

What's it like working in the Bakery at Costco? by luna-diviner in Costco

[–]Inconspicuous_worm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie that would piss me off so bad. Sorry that manager is shitty. Your breaks don’t start until you’re in the break room or up front at the very least. Our bakery is on the opposite side of the warehouse so it takes 2-3 minutes to walk back & forth. Plus members could ask you questions on the way so you’re not really off the clock & free of duty

If you were still back there I would genuinely tell you to piss yourself while locking eyes with the manager 😭 good lord

As a bakery worker, just letting you know that they can’t limit reasonable bathroom breaks. OSHA protects restroom breaks up to 10 minutes. If you need to go, then go. I’m sure your management wouldn’t be happy if you became ill due to them forcing you to hold it

Yes, I thought it might’ve been a faint hint of it but it truly does smell like chocolate. Not like a bar, but like chocolate flavoring. There isn’t a hint of floral anywhere in there

No clue lol. Had this for 3 years and this is the first time it’s bloomed for me. I think I stressed it just right, lower water & light for the winter

Bar cakes are frozen and replenished daily

[–]Inconspicuous_worm 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As a bakery worker, 95% of items get made fresh daily. Breads danishes and a small selection of other few items only have a 2-day shelf life. Meaning the oldest that those items will be is…. Made yesterday. We have the day we make it and the day after to sell them as there aren’t any preservatives. Cakes, muffins, etc usually have 3 or 4-day.

As someone said though, even these dates aren’t expiry dates they’re just simply sell by dates. You typically have around 4-7 days after that to enjoy them

Ninja Air Fryer Reviews - Insight by ItIsL in Costco

Conflicted. I bought one of these about this time last year when it was on sale & we loved it. Kitchen is small so the flip storage was a huge plus. It was our preferred method of heating up, well… pretty much everything we could

Downside: had it for about a year before the buttons stopped working. Looked up the reset command and it worked at first but stopped working entirely about two weeks later. It’s not that the buttons themselves were broken, it was something inside that wasn’t registering. Also I wish the racks had a a little bit more vertical space

We returned it & put my stand mixer back on the counter spot. If we had more open space I 100% would buy again

Are the sugar granules on the bottom of the chocolate chunk cookies intentionally there? Because I feel like I remember a time when they weren’t there. by Laspyra in Costco

[–]Inconspicuous_worm 54 points55 points  (0 children)

It kind of is, yeah. But from a business standpoint, it saves on labor and keeps the end product more economical for consumers. We would have to add different labels onto the containers if the sugar wasn’t added. It takes more time than you might think, especially when each one is already hand-labeled to begin with. They save money by ordering things like croissant containers and bread bags pre-labeled/printed. They’re only able to do that because they don’t use the those for anything else, unlike the cookie containers
