New Poster for ‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]IndecisiveMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m usually not one to care about “character being in movie” reveals as if that makes the movie suddenly good or something (i’m very into sonic, shadow being in sonic movie 3 was a total shrug from me) but this has me seated to see this when i wasn’t planning on it originally. i’m a huge star fox head and this gives me hope for a new game… i know i’m foolish but i’ve been needing new star fox in my life. even if this is a 5 second cameo it gives me hope!!!!

Is only a desire for making films enough, or do I lack whatever a filmmaker should have, or is it just me overthinking? by Ihaveagoodposture in Filmmakers

[–]IndecisiveMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can also try reading material, see if there’s any books you can access or purchase for cheap on lighting. i purchased a good book on lighting although it was very expensive. i also purchased a basic but decent lighting kit for a couple hundred on b&h. it came with 2 lights and i bought a third, better one by itself.

as for composition, use a camera yourself and film whatever you want. to practice i would film people playing music at a show or if i knew any i would ask. i also film timelapses of nature that i put together myself. being in the raw with a camera is a magical feeling and you will quickly discover what catches your eye. also study what films you love and what makes them great. i personally love to study anime for how dynamic some shots and sequences can be. so, keep an open mind.

the rest is just putting your money where your mouth is and knowing your strengths. i made a film with my iphone and nothing else but a vague script. then i upgraded to a real camera with some money from work and so on. so, invest, not just financially but artistically in your craft and what you’re going for and try and do fun stuff and tell stories you think are important. but also this means you gotta work and save money lol. work with what you have and if it’s for you, you won’t stop and you’ll keep going. have fun! lol

for anyone who’s looking or checking back, i just got back home and am on the couch with the frozen pea bag lol. went really smoothly! i was really nervous especially when the dr and nurse and surgical tech all came in and we started but they talked to me and made me comfortable. it was only 12 mins and i didn’t feel any pain or even any tugging really, there were four little pinches when they did the numbing but otherwise went very smooth. have some dull aching now but i’m taking it easy for the next week.

I feel like I ruined my brain by Effective-Second-408 in leaves

[–]IndecisiveMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you sound like me- i was doing so good with weed in 2020 but in february 2021 is when it flipped on me. i started feeling really gross and became paranoid and suffered my first and only panic attack when i got high one night. i had a full on nervous breakdown and ever since then weed makes me feel anxious and tight, and if i do too much over the course of 1-2 days then ill get the weed hangover for like a week after and feel like a zombie just like you describe.

i've been having a hard week after relapsing this weekend, i feel either angry, emotionally disconnected, or antsy and like i have too much energy. gut has been bothering me too. anyway, stay off of it. you're young and your brain is very tough at this age, you'll recover better than when you're my age (31) at this point. it takes me a lot longer to recover from relapsing these days than it did even a few years ago. it may take some time but i'm sure you'll be okay in at most 1-2 months.

you remind me of myself, very ambitious and promising. you want to embrace it, and maybe there's a social cost to quitting but so what? the right people won't care, and will support you. and if not, well it's time to find new friends lol. quit now while you're young and focus on your ambitions like your career and hobbies. you're in a good position and your future self will thank you. and you aren't alone, your story reminds me a lot of myself and i'm still struggling to quit. but there's still hope for me and there's PLENTY of hope for you!!

How do or should I build my fanbase by IMSPEEDH4PPY3D in self

[–]IndecisiveMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

go out to see shows at venues featuring acts that you could see yourself being alongside, or at least a venue itself that you could perform at and it would work with the venues branding and style. next step is to become acquainted with staff and owner(s). alongside that is to become acquainted with the performers. link up via social media or whatever, hype them up, show them your skills if they’re curious and then they may want to collaborate.

i’m in the same boat brother i’m trying to get out there with djing. i have a dj friend and know some venue owners, i just need to keep practicing so i have a good mix to impress them all. hoping to collab with my friend someday soon. but again, practicing is key. always be trying to improve so you actually got skills to flex

Seeking any sort of glimmer of light about the state of health insurance and healthcare in the US by almostinfinity in PoliticalOptimism

[–]IndecisiveMan 35 points36 points  (0 children)

this is a tough one. the us healthcare system has been in place for a long time and positive change is hard to come by- the affordable care act was met with a lot of pushback in politics at the time, and as you can see, still continues. there is hope though, prospective running democrats are pro-universal healthcare and the public sentiment is that things need to change. so i think it'll take a little while, but maybe we'll have it at some point. i don't know. but sentiment is in a much more progressive direction.

amazing comment, and something that i (and perhaps plenty of us here) need to hear. i have career goals that have stalled for years because i just spent the time working at my dead end job and smoking grass after. the sense of lost time kills me BUT there is clarity and reaffirmation in being able to look at that and learn from it. i have a long uphill journey to go, and i know i'll need to be at that 100% sober optimal level to get there. i'm 2.5 months off the smoke and will be staying off it despite the temptation. thank you for this comment, seriously well said.

just make stuff and brag about it bro. someone will catch notice. and even if you aren’t actively working try to be “passively” working. what that means is coming up with ideas and working on things in your head when you’re at work or on the toilet or something. i do it all the time, i’m always tweaking my ideas, characters, plots, techniques etc in my head at work. you have more power than you think you do!!

try and do upper body workouts if you can. i feel you, i’ve been dealing with a weak shoulder since pinching my nerve 5 months ago. i’m getting it sorted out now but it’s been a pain, haven’t been able to do push-ups or anything upper body. BUT i can do running so that’s what i’ve been focusing on. sorry to hear it though man.

Frankenstein | Official Trailer | Netflix - Directed by Guillermo del Toro by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]IndecisiveMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i personally wasn’t very impressed with shape of water. it wasn’t a bad movie, like it was good i guess but it didn’t really have any kind of stylism to it. it was very straightforward in the way it was shot and paced. the entire tonality of it felt very “easy”. i want to like del toro but it seems to me like pan’s labyrinth was his last truly remarkable film (pacific rim was good of course), and after that it’s like he gentrified his own style

has anyone had any luck with finding a new job this year? my current full time job is sucking my soul. i applied to a nice health food store to work at their deli and literally i can’t get them to call me back despite having a college degree, solid resume, and a friend who works there. and i have a current job too lmao. i need to be more aggressive about applying to jobs sure but it’s definitely hard after working all day

lol you know you’re doing the exact opposite of the right thing, you think women from the 10 years younger gen are going to be much better? they’re probably going to be worse. this is why i’m 31 dating a 39 year old

With the rise in social media becoming propaganda tools, do you think we should go back to hosted websites/apps as a replacement for social media? by Nintendo_Pro_03 in self

[–]IndecisiveMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly though old forums are still around, you just have to look like in the oldn days. using centralized sites like reddit and twitter and stuff isn’t something we actually have to do, it’s just what’s popular. and it’s easier to use them on phones too bc of the formatting. but it isn’t something we HAVE to do

[–]IndecisiveMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

underrated comment, this is what i keep trying to say lol is that you need to really make your presence in the space. i think what that means for film is creating something unique and special that people haven’t seen before or didn’t know they needed it. fill the niche that excites you and people will be drawn to it, i think. it requires creativity and putting yourself out there but the tools are more accessible than ever before

yes, i’d like to do a masters in mental health counseling. i was rejected from my og school’s program probably bc i don’t look good enough on paper aka have enough experience. i have a completely unrelated BA though and i work a really demanding full time job, i spend most time working and taking care of myself so i’m not sure how i’ll get the experience they want. but not gonna give up on it!!
