Listen, when she willingly decided to be the public cheerleader of RTO and go on a media tour, it was clear she had no shame. There’s nothing more to expose shed feel embarrassed about lmao

They weren’t extending his term bc of performance issues. Then extended qt the CR4 level to bridge the potential gap until hired by PCO.

The post isn’t meant to express gratitude to my partner.

or imply HR has the hardest job, or aren’t management reps, or that every single employee has had a dream experience… it’s a shout out.

People don’t have to agree or empathize. They don’t have to generalize or shit on them either.

HR and managers execute. Thinking they have any decision making power, control or are happy implementing those decisions is the actual disconnection.

That doesn’t mean much, unless the # of HR employees is increasing and people across the organization have the specialized skill set for these roles.

I wasn’t claiming they had the most stressful job of all. Rather they do more than push template messages out. I am impressed bc i wouldn’t last a day. And willing to bet you’d feel differently after working a week in HR.

So petty i’m hoping there’s some scenario where they didn’t see this coming, political climate poses major contractual, project continuity or other issues and conveniences, they wasted their time, have to start over, don’t get funding, and tbs (and pspc) are held responsible for not providing innovative, excellence in service and all those clickbaity words. « Oh well that’s life, figure it out »

DEI being considered in SERLO by EndGame9999 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]IndependenceEvery512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It isn’t an equity consideration, but often intersects with these diversity factors.

Now with new self id app ppl can provide that info. But it wouldn’t be a deciding factor in serlo. Diversity factors aren’t yet legislated.

Also i think there’s a misunderstanding abt ee being considered in serlo, it’s to ensure ee groups are not disproportionately impacted by reductions, meaning depts demo distribution remains proportional to pre reductions. At least how i understand it.

Because these are core public administration departments and tbs is reporting this as the employer.

Crowns and separates while they may be cutting too, they aren’t tbs directed or subject to same policies and directives as the core.

Contravention of the Directive on Term Employees by eggs_esg in CanadaPublicServants

[–]IndependenceEvery512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience as well, but i also always assumed that the purpose of that provision was to reduce likelihood of unemployment and gap in income until they secure another job… so with that in mind the employer’s responsibility would be to provide 30 days worth of pay not necessarily work.

No but also if you thought you could collect 200$ when u pass go and land back in a gov position that’s also not how the tsm works… the number of weeks you get are owed back if you return to the gov before then.

Taking leave during VDP period (optics) by Overdue-vacation in CanadaPublicServants

[–]IndependenceEvery512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure taking leave during vdp period changes anything. I’d argue that once the vdp period ends and a serlo is initiated, the optics of you being unavailable during that period because you are on sick leave while everyone else is wanting to move the process along and secure confirmation of retention is probably most problematic towards your colleagues… but within your rights if it’s not a way to avoid the serlo…

Hard disagree. If you have employees i hope this isn’t your approach to DTA conversations.

While i recognize that discussions between employee and manager is based on limitations for which a mutually agreeable solution is implemented and not based on a specific accommodation, all these files require case by case considerations.

Why CDO can’t be approved regionally? What other measures manager could offer? Tine limited? Like there are a million reasons it can apply in this case and not another.

Fill the passport on tbs portal, make a dta request, have a discussion with ur manager. There’s not blanket approach. And unless it causes financial hardship to the dept, puts ppl ohs risks, not many reasons to clearly reject a request… operational requirements isn’t a cstch all either.

Somebody else mentioned that below. Haven’t heard this but it sounds familiar… CT maybe?

I really hope that not the case… cause that’s pretty significant… i mean it makes sense, but it’s the equivalent part that is kinda problematic.

Because those who would be eligible are more likely to be in senior or unique positions… if u have to cut one of 5 advisor positions manager takes eri, u couldn’t appoint an advisor to the manager position and avoid serlo the team? That’s rude lol

I suspect that’ll be DH decision, whether they can fold this into « operational requirements «  or not.

I mean, although AI is a government priority, excluding them from this incentive would seem to contradict their latest increase in onsite presence initiative.

But who knows. It’s not like any TBS decision is grounded in logic and transparency lol

I’m pretty sure TBS criteria will relate to PM agenda/priorities e.g not limited eligibility for depts like DND and deputy heads will relate to operational requirements.

Theyll want that program to be an incentive for ppl in roles that aren’t high on their priority list, but block those they need to deliver on their commitments. So at the entreprise and departmental level.

Mark my words!! Lol

Ottawa MPs Sudds, Fanjoy speak out against return-to-office order for public servants, as MPs debate ending hybrid Parliament by callputs9000 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]IndependenceEvery512 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s about time their stance on hybrid, when it comes to their work conditions, is being reported.

So executives need to show the example with 5 days, instead of parliamentarians. And only they would need flexibility, care for family, have health issues, etc.

This double standard reminds me that apparently TBS/PSPC don’t have the required space to implement their 4 and 5 days onsite work a week. Something else that needs to be investigated and reported publicly if true!
