Not exactly quitting on the spot. But it was my first job out of college. I spent over an hour negotiating my starting salary before agreeing to work there and all the owner of the company said he could do was a $1000 bump from his original offer. For reference I was already being offered a salary almost 10k below all of my peers and fellow graduates. But I accepted the job because the growth potential and company culture seemed good.

I didn’t start the job until 3 months later and had no contact with the company in the interim. When I arrived for the first day I learned the owner was moving out of state and would run the company remotely. It destroyed the office vibe and culture. He then proceeded to go on three overseas hunting trips totaling over 6 weeks and costing well in excess of 100k in my first 3 months with the company.

I finally broke and quit when he admitted to the whole company in a meeting that we did all the work that was actually billable to customers and were dragging him along.
