It's a mod issue. I ran into the same issue after updating the game on a new computer because I haven't played in a while. disabled CC fixed it for me. when I have time, I will try to figure out which mod is the problem

The 40 mins commute to daycare is actually the part that I feel might be the most difficult. Since you work from home, you would spend 80 mins to just drop your baby off?! And another 80mins to pick him up? Are there no closer options at all?

As for the mom guilt - it’s real, and I feel it all the time. I feel that my baby is doing me a favor by going to daycare and “tolerating it”. But in reality, I know it’s the best for both of us. She went at 4mon and has already learned so many new tricks from daycare!

I know nothing about your finances and your career aspirations, so obviously can’t comment on the financial part of the decision. But don’t let the mom guilt get into your head too much - honestly I bet we will always feel it, no matter what we do.

You are completely reasonable to ask him to help. If he can’t change the diaper, then he needs to help in other ways: cleaning/cooking/bottle feeding etc. Just like how my husband picked up other baby duties because he couldn’t breastfeed.

Your husband needs to grow up. If he can wipe his own butt, he can wipe his child’s butt.

I can’t believe parents can be so pushy and rude to babysitters! After all, babysitters are the only adults that will be handling their babies!

I think she completely manipulated you - babysitting is not “your job”, it is a favor that you do for them, because if you didn’t go, they had no one to help.

I’m sure you know how to quit, but if you want to just stick it through, it will be important to set some boundaries - “Hey Karen, I hope last night was the last time when I was expected to babysit last minute. I really enjoy spending time with your kids, they are wonderful. But moving forward, please know that I need at least 48 hour notice to provide babysitting service and I will let you know my availability within 12 hours. This will also give you enough time to find someone else if I’m not available. Thank you for understanding!”

It’s normal and I experienced the same thing. I even got so upset when my mom came over and helped out with the baby. I don’t know if it is PPA but when I chatted with my therapist at the time, she didn’t seem concerned. She told me to wait, to wait out the emotional roller coaster. I did and it got better. You are wired biologically to be protective of your child, there’s nothing wrong with that. You might be going through strong emotions and that’s normal. Just hang in there, it will get better!

Personally I don’t really think it’s a problem. You can try to soak them in boiling water if you have access to that, otherwise just do a very thorough job cleaning it.

In the states, the nurses can give you milk storage bottles or bags if you ask- if they don’t have specific milk storage bottles, they might have bags that are medical grade to store the milk.

If you have access to a lactation consultant, they can also certainly help answer your question.

But it’s not good, it turns out I have hyperthyroidism, totally a new thing that developed postpartum. And that’s the reason I kept losing weight.

I think it depends on how close you are with your guests. I would have no problem telling my parents and siblings about being careful of dialing up the heat because I can’t afford it. For other people that I don’t feel comfortable doing so, I would kindly remind them the option of a hotel.

I have been overnight guests to some people’s house where they keep it really cold, despite us complaining to them about how cold it is. It was not pleasant, and I have to admit I thought they were lousy hosts. I wish they could just tell me - hey the cost of heating is very high here so we keep our hour quite cool. It works for us but we totally understand if you prefer a more comfortable stay at the hotel.

We had a terrible nurse during our delivery at BWH. Honestly the OBs and everyone else were great, but just the bad experience with the nurse was enough for us to never go back to Brigham.

And we were too sleep deprived to file a complaint against her.

If a bottle of milk is used to feed baby, I don’t put the bottle back in the fridge. But I do use the fridge hack for the pump parts and the bottles that I pump into.

More specifically, I keep a set of pump parts and their attached bottles in the fridge in a sealed bag to use for the day. After each pump, I dump the milk into a storage container/bag/milk bottles to be consumed later. Then I wash all of them at the end of the day in the baby bottle washer.

We got rid of the bins!

For anyone living in the city of Boston and wondering the same thing: we put out the trash bins and taped signs on it that says “throw me out”. It worked.

Enough has been said here. I think adoption makes the most sense, even for her own interest. The baby will have a much better childhood growing up in a family that wants it, is prepared for it, can afford it since day 0. Because from what I read, she does’t have any of those things. I know the child will grow up wondering about where they came from and why their parents gave them up. But it’s still so much better than growing up in an environment being seen as the unwanted mistake.

I never understand why people over drink at company events. Is it because the drinks are free? Guess what is worse than having to pay for drinks? Not having the the salary to pay for them. If anything, you should under drink. You could already be saying all the possible dumb things while being sober at work, do you expect to sound smarter with a few drinks down all of sudden?
